Strongest skid Timbersled vs. kmod

Sorry for bringing up an old questions again, but feel the need for some more feedback from fellow sledders;).

I am considering upgrading the apex skid to an aftermarket skid. M-10 is too expensive due too shipping cost overseas:(.

So I have been looking on both the timbersled and kmod gen 2 skids. I have read all posts I can find on the two skids on SW and TY. There is plenty of info on the Timbersled skid, but not much on the kmod gen 2 skid. I am not sure the Timbersled skid will fit my needs/riding style.

I need a skid that can take some serious abuse from a rear mount turbo sled down the trails before boondocking/climbing. I do plenty of trail riding before boondocking/climbing. Our trails are NOT good.

Any out there out there with experience with both skids?

Or is the Racers edges "M-10" the only good alternative?

Thanks in advance:beer;

go with bakers m10 kit. i sure wish that kit was out when i bought my skid. it seems alot of ppl with rear mount turbos have not had any luck with the timbersled.

I have had both of these skids on a Turbo Nytro and there is no comparison. The Kmod is a LOT beefier and stronger. It has better action as well and has better wheely control. I have not run an M10 on the turbo Nytro, but for the other two..I have your answer^

From what I've noticed in the last year or two all the companies have stepped up and started putting out good product. It really comes down to prefrence. Allan at Timber Sled has re-vamped there skid and it seems to be working under bigger boost. The Mountian Addiction works well but is built light and does not like the trail abuse. I'm constantly replacing parts from wear and tear down the trail becuse your right, there is alot of rough trail one has to go through before getting to the hillclimbing and boondock'in. Easyride might be somthing to look at. But, if your stuck on one of the two you are talking about, I think the Timber Sled would be the one. Hope that helps alittle. JOP

I'd go with the KMOD Gen2. I tested the Gen 2 during the spring under my nytro at 17#. It soaked up the bumps quite a bit better than my mtn tamer and appears to be alot stronger too. Don't get me wrong, the mtn tamer has worked good under my t-nytro for 1400 miles, but I think the KMOD Gen 2 is a better skid with a better ride and can be adjusted to keep the front down, without sacrificing ride quality.

I vote for the Timbersled... Super strong.. keeps the front end down when you need it to...

Also this year they have an upgraded slider mechanism and a new Optional Float-X with compression hi/low adjustment, and rebound...

nice skid!!

Baker 10 - Rode all winter last year with three of them, great skids, I'll be running one in my next sled. Great handling on the trail, rode one myself for 4 days this winter.

No rails to ship, can use stock front arm and shock.

All the skids mentioned are very good, here is why I like mine, (Gen ll) Equal length arms, equal length shocks, 7075 cross shafts, very durable Delrin bushings, pivot style coupling, will couple front arm full travel, Fox Evol rear shock with two air chambers to adjust, and a dampening clicker adjustment. Three position coupling block adjustment done in minutes for the chutes, Tested and R&D on all four brands in 08-09.
Capable of holding down the front end of a turbo Nytro at 18lbs with a 2.5 camo on the mildest coupling position.
And on top of all that every person that tried it said it rode better that anything else they had been on.
Now available with Ice Age rails 162'' to 174''
Thanks Kevin

The Kmod is for real. I did a lot of testing on Gen I and had a few weeks of testing on Gen II. They are both great! The Gen II is better for the reasons that Kevin listed above. If you are running a boosted sled in varying conditions, I have not seen a more versatile skid.

I have not run an M-10, but have run everything else on the nytro and I would choose Gen II.

Thanks for the information:beer;. Are the rails in the picture the iceage rails that you sell for the apex suspension?

Thanks for the phone number:beer; It would be great to have an e-mail address - it is alot easier when english is not my first language. But it looks like have to call them to get some more information on their setup.
