I officially hate tire pressure sensors. These things are total pain in the @ss. So I just rotated my tires and the system is now indicating that I need to check the rear tires. I rotated front to back and the systems still thinks the tires are in the same location. Anyone know how to program the system so it can relearn the actual location of the tire pressure sensors? I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado. Thanks!

it is as easy as going to your dealer, handing him a c note and him taking 30 seconds out of his day to reset it for you.:D

I finally broke down and pulled out the owners manual. Believe it or not they actually told you how to do it. I thought for sure it would say "see dealer". Car companies have the most random ways for the systems to relearn things.

1. Turn the key to run without the engine running.
2. Use the keyless entry remote and hold the lock and unlock buttons for 5 seconds. The horn will honk indicating that the system is learn mode.
3. Start at the drivers side front tire and increasing or decrease the tire pressure for 5-10 seconds. The horn will honk once the system learns the location. Proceed to the passenger front and repeat process, passenger rear and finally the drivers side rear. The horn will hook twice once complete.

I'm still shocked that it actually worked correctly the first time I did it. The sensors are now reading the proper locations and the light on the dash it out.

Adjust your valves. If it is hard to start hot and running rough, your valves are most likely too tight. If it has stock exhaust put something else on it and rejet it. Just about every four stroke these days needs that. About the only thing I like about the newer four strokes is electric start.

A couple weeks ago there was four of us out riding, 3 four strokes and me. 2 guys hit their E start and go, my boss says to me "sucks to be the only one without electric start" and hits his start button. I give the old 490 one kick and it fires up and I lean over to him and say "sucks to have a bike that doesn't fire up right away huh" as he was still cranking on his and I took off.

it has a FMF Powercore 4 slip-on.

yeah i need to get the valves adjusted..i'm not setting one tool on that motor though..i'll fix up a 2 stroke, but i'm not taking any chances on that thumper motor. oh..and yippie, it has very low compression so yay i get to re-do the top end!

can anyone do this cheaper/sooner than a dealer? none of the dealers can get me in for like 2 weeks..i want to ride this thing as soon as i can..i've had it for 4 days and now i need to fxckin rebuild it..so i'm not really a happy camper.

Well reads as if everyone is having a good time this week/weekend.

The wife and are went to portland and hung out, now waitin on din din, then off to Bend Oregon for the night to head to Crater lake in the morn.

Picked up a 92 YJ Jeep to tug behind, So far so good.

Adjust your valves then do a compresson check again. If your valves are tight(most likely) it will have low compression because it is holding the valves open just a bit.

I don't know anything about Kawi's but the Honda's stock top ends don't last very long.

hmm, well i can kick it over with my hand..so dunno if the valves would be making it have THAT low of compression? and it's an '04..so it should be ready for a top end anyway? could i get away with just adjusting the valves or should i do the top end anyway before it blows up?

Thanks TOP I can't wait till she looks like that, right now she is a Virgin, just a lil lift and a hair dier then i will need a new motor shortly there of. then it will be worthy. she nothin special now!!!!!............................

Devil Kawis runn for ever.. with no problems will except for the inferier water line plastic pile of crap Y they used in 06 I noticed on Tops 07? it is factory Aluminum.

Just rolled in from a R/T run to Nampa/Boise...
Dropped the first born off for his first year of college. Tough time for me, not only was he my son but also one of my best friends. I will miss him. Ahhh the world keeps spinnin' and the snow will be fallin'....
On another sad note, Obeysgravity had a niece killed in a car accident and she had to fly out of Boise after seeing Josh off....she "looses" two kids this weekend....:(

The valves will keep getting tighter until it doesn't have enough compression to run if you don't adjust them. Its alot cheaper to get the valves adjusted than do the top end. I would just adjust the valves then do a compression check on it. If its within spec you are golden. Might want to make sure while you are at it that the compression release isn't hanging up.

MMM, listen to devil. it sounds like a classic valve adjust to me. as the valve wears the seat margin down they get closer to the cam. as the valve gets warmer it gets closer to the cam. you combine the two and you get the situation yu are in. if you ride it with valves out of spec you risk burning a valve or seat. right now it prolly starts cold because you are .005 ish on the ext. valves when cold......warm it all up and that goes down to......not enough.

check the valves. then do a comp test......not before.

defys and obeys........sorry to hear about your niece.

I can't believe this last day of summer vacation fot the kids. At least it looks like it will be a nice day. Tomorrow I get to clean up my sled and get it ready for the premiere.
