So my truck caught on fire.

BTW,
As stated above. Get your own insurance company to pay for repairs if you want to move forward.
Another thing is you need to be in a rental if you have coverage or not. This will goto the "total loss" cost and you will get it back. However, if you want to not be paying it just talk to a buddy and "rent" his truck. It is legal, and is a motivater. If it were me I would just have a friend write up an agreement at a dealership for rental but I have friends there. I am sure you very well have means for this also.

They also said if it wasn't a near $20K claim, they would be willing to take that risk and do the investigation on their own. I am no fool and I am apprehensive about the way AmFam is handling this.

Since when is the amount of damage release them from their contract to insure you? Wreck or no wreck , this is a first party claim, plain and simple. If this isn't acting in bad faith, then I don't know what is. They are protecting their interests and breaching their contract to make you whole in a timely manner.

Your call to the DOI was a step in the right direction.

My thoughts exactly.

90% of the insurance companies out there are thieves, plain and simple.

fixed it for ya:D:beer;

Hope things get figured out quickly Josh.....

Josh,
They picked the wrong guy to screw over. The ripple effect because of your solid reputation and customer base is going to hurt them more than they would imagine. Good to know about DOI if anything like that happens to anyone else. Keep us up to date. I want to know how DOI deals with you!

My father-in-law got screwed over good by the ambulance company when my MIL died, and I spent hours and months on the phone with them trying to be fair and give them the benefit of the doubt, but documenting names, dates and times. He had paid in full, thinking he was paying half (wrote the check for 1/2 the amount in the numerical box, but the full amount in the handwritten line and the bank cashed the wrong amount) also not knowing MediCare was supposed to pay the bill. The ambulance company sent him a collections notice FIRST THING and he freaked out and paid not knowing they did that to everyone. So since they were paid in full, why should they bother to bill MediCare? Then he's out $400 more than he thought with the mistake.

Finally after a few months I had enough and got the Better Business Bureau involved and BOY did that $800 check get into his hands FAST! Might be worth checking into with Rockford. Get 'em into as much trouble as you can!

dont worry i have never nor will ever use rockford fosgate. the only thing they had going for them was in the early nintys then poof they were equal to pioneer to me. anything stero you can get at wal mart shouldnt be got

Wouldn't hurt to send a handwritten letter to:

Rockford Fosgate
600 S. Rockford Dr
Tempe, AZ 85281

Send 3 seperate letters with attention to: Bill Jackson (Pres), Jim Strickland (VP of Engineering), & Kay DeLuca (Director of customer support). Explain the crappy service you've gotten from them on this situation, in depth, and how you plan on drafting a similar letter to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer reports and anyone else you can think of.

I got fed up with some crap from HP and did that and ended up getting a new laptop and a nice long letter of apology from one of the top dogs at customer support.

Good luck.

I second the letter to the higher ups. I had a problem with two major auto parts manufacturer's products. The people taking calls couldn't care less, but the CEOs sure care when they get email from random customers with well written complaints. Things get taken care of VERY quickly this way.

ttt, I want to see where this goes. Could help out later down the line for the rest of us. Wish you the best Josh. I'd have a tough time keeping my composure.

So everyone actually showed up today and took the time to do their jobs. Although it took a long time, and I knew it would. I was there for 2 hours before I had to get back to the office and from what it looked like Rockford Fosgate was at least unofficially admitting fault. From what it sounds like, they knew what went wrong before they even showed up. Again no surprises.

No apologies from anyone except my field adjustor and the installation shop. THE ONLY PEOPLE NOT AT FAULT!

I am supposed to get a call this afternoon and get the "official" word. Hopefully the shop can begin repairs next week.

As far as writing a letter to RF I did write a letter AND spoke on the phone with Kay Deluca on November 25th. TERRIBLE customer support lady! On the phone she was very evasive/had no answers and if she did she wasn't sharing them. She never even replied to my letter! Greg Coombs and some other guy from RF showed up today and they weren't exactly apologetic either. Neither was the adjustor/expert from Travelers Insurance.

From what it looks like, RF knew exactly what the problem was from the beginning. They were in no hurry to get their own adjuster on the scene in a timely manner in order to prove RF was at fault. RF hoped my insurance company would just repair the truck, thus destroying any evidence to be used in court. My insurance company used this opportunity to prove a point to RF/Travelers that they wouldn't be walked on.

The moral of this story is that sometimes, you can do absolutely nothing wrong, and still get screwed. I bought the amplifier from the stereo shop that professionally installed it. I pay my insurance premiums early or on time. Same with my truck payment. Still I get drug through the mud for 2 months until Travelers Insurance can be bothered to do their job.

I will NEVER buy anything form Rockford Fosgate again and I strongly urge you to do the same. I also will NEVER work with Travelers Insurance.

We had a portable heater melt down in a helicopter 2 years ago. Besides replacing the plastic and upholstery we had to take wire bundles apart to clean them to get the smell out. Every hard surface had to be cleaned 2-3 times. Sometimes on humid days people still say they can faintly smell it.

If it were my truck I would push HARD to get the truck replaced.
