Sometime last sunday night the amp which was "professionally" installed caught on fire and burned itself out. Did some major damage to my truck though. So far about $17,000 worth to be exact!
My insurance company is going after the Amplifier manufacturer saying it does not look like a wiring or installation issue.
The pics don't do the amount of damage justice...
Outside still looks fine:
Inside:
Because of the toxic smoke damage, EVERY soft part inside has to be replaced. My truck is sitting at the repair shop not being touched until November 25th when an official fire investigation will be held. Two reps from the Amplifier manufacturer, 2 reps from the stereo shop and numerous insurance people will be on hand. Should be a good time!
I am reluctant to admit the name of the amplifier manufacturer. They are a good company (so far are cooperating) and I don't want people to think badly about them. They make good stuff and I have been buying their amps for almost 15 years. (EDIT! SEE MY POST ON PAGE 2!) This looks like some kind of freak incident I guess.
So needless to say, when I opened my truck door that monday, I was a little shocked.
