Snowy Mountain Lodge...new owner???

Nice...

Snowy Mtn Lodge

I think one of the main reasons the lodge doesn't do too well is they can't get good employees. Most restaurants hire kids to be their wait staff and pay them minimum wage plus tips. At that low pay and the high cost of gas, what kid can afford to drive the 30 miles (each way + in snowy weather) from Laramie every day? That's just the service. The food has to be good, too. IMO, it hasn't been good since the cook (Mike) left to go to Albany. We used to have our State Ride banquet at the lodge every year. We usually had a choice of prime rib or salmon, AND you could have an "adult beverage". Like others have written, this place used to be a major destination for all the sledders. It wasn't uncommon to see hundreds of sleds parked outside at the end of the day. I know we all look at it from the sledders' point of view, but this place has to make it year round for it to stay in business. I wonder if the summer campers and fishermen see the lodge as any better?

The lodge used to be awesome!! Prices were not expensive, food was great and gas was only a buck more than in laramie. I remember one time I counted 400 plus sleds in the parking lot at lunch. It kills me to see what has happened since Mike left.

I agree 100% , when Mike owned the place it was awesome, but it was not making any $$$$ that is one of the reasons he got out of it, as well as his family did not like life in the mtns in the winter. He made a lot of his money in the summer with weddings. It will never be the same as when Mike ran it, it is extremely hard to find employees to work in a secluded mtn enviroment, unless you can pay big bucks, (high gas prices, expensive food etc, expensive rental cabins). If you want cheap prices don't go to a mtn town. You want good service go to Aspen but you bet your sweet butt you are gonna pay for it. I think Dave did a hell of a job trying to give good service knowing the tools he had to work with. And thanks Ollie without that end of the road being plowed parking is going to be ****ed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry just my 2 cents. I have been a customer of SML for 15 years and will continue to do so.:beer;:beer;:beer;

Looks like no more webcam updates. The last image is from Thursday, Dec 10th.

I was up at Greenrock loading my sleds on Sunday and Dave (The owner in question) was in his skidsteer plowing the greenrock parking lot to the cattle guard. Maybe they are back? Don't know? Just saw him!
