Snowy Mountain Lodge...new owner???

Too bad. It sounds like the rumor I heard is not true. I sure wish it was so we didn't have to put up with this crap anymore. I suppose we all have a choice of not staying there and not buying gas there.

From what I understand, Chris at Mountain Meadow is more than happy to plow the road, and does take care of it some now. He's a pretty stand up guy and has gone out of his way to help me out. Send Mountain Meadow your business!

I understand the fuel prices, but seriously, why the pissy attitude?? The Lodge is a last resort option for us now. My understanding is they're going back east and calling it quits.

Could be a good opportunity for the right person.

Chris / Mountain Meadows are great

if you don't like the lodge, don't go there or buy it and run it the way you want to...

Having worked for the state I can tell you that the payroll system can work very slowly but I haven't ever heard or seen of someone not receiving payment that was owed. This doesn't exactly answer your question because I don't know if he did; however I would presume that he did.

there are several states handing out IOUs in lieu of checks now, wyoming is not one of them

however, this would most likely be a deal with the feds, i fear an IOU in stead of my irs return for 2009

remember, 100% of government is a burden on society, how much are you willing to shoulder?

wish I had whatever it took to buy the place..., I would make it a place that sledders would be stoked to stop at!!!!:cool:

If a sledder bought that place it would be eureka again. I member when it was the hub of activity and full of sleds in lot till they would run out of :beer;

Its gone down hill so long even with the right mgmt and ownership it would take a while to rebound since the word is out on it being so negative for so many years.

I stayed there last year. Service was ok except lodge closed way too early by six I think. Stayed in the honeymooner cabin with the wife. More like a toolshed with a bed in it. One electric heater was broken and the toilet was a bucket with a fan on it basically - no running water. Had to quit riding early to get back to take a shower. Cabin was $80 a night. Kinda steep for what we got. Gas there was around $4 a gallon. At least a buck more than in Laramie. Going back but staying at Mountain Meadows. I hear it is nice but no gas and no food. Kinda seems like someone should take one of them over and offer the whole deal - good rooms at reasonable rates (Mountain Meadows is only $53 plus tax), good food at reasonable rates, a flippin bar so a person could have a cold beer after a long day of riding, and gas at reasonable rates and maybe just maybe something besides pump gas for those that require it. I could be crazy but someplace with all that just might do ok. My $.02.

There is no way I could look someone in the eye if I was charging them $80 a night for a tool shed and a bucket to dump in..., COME ON! Everyone knows why the lodge closes at 6..., no business. That place has unlimited potential!! Guess you gotta have the drive and motavation!:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Well...............Himark, you'll be flush with cash from your running board widening idea. Make a helluva an investment for you.:beer;

You should look into winter creek condos if you are looking for something a little nicer for the wife. They don't serve meals but the cabins are warm & private. If you want meals it is just a mile to Centenial. Albany lodge is open early & late if you want to stay on the South end & they have a motel. I"ve never stayed at Albany, so I can't comment on the accomidations there. Ive never stayed at Snowy Mountain either but I saw a few of their cabins and asked the price - that was enough for me. Mountain meadows is alright but if you don't want to cook you have to drive somewhere anyway. I only stayed there once with another guy and had a good experience. I'm not going to take the wife there though. I don't think she would think it was much of a vacation if she had to cook.

I've had a few good meals at snowy mountain and a few so-so ones. The saying "service with a smile" does not apply there though. I bought gas there once, I swear it took an hour to get 5 sleds filled

The place certainly has potential, but here is the problem $1,800,000.00 asking price! That is a lot of coin to cover especially if you have looked at the condition of the lodge and cabins in the summer when you can really see what they need to be useable. I for the life of me can't see why these owners think these places are worth that kind of money when they aren't turning a profit with what they have. Sad situation. Just my $.02.

Who actually owns the ground it sits on? I thought all the land in that area was leased by Uncle Sam.

It is leased from the forest service and I heard from one of my sources, that the forest service may be taking it back. That's all I'm going to say until its final.

Not sure, but I know if you don't pay your lease they dont like it :D Woops guess I said something else oh well................................

Lets see pay the lease and 1.8 mill value or not and get NADA. I think I would be keeping lease kept up. Question is how long of a lease was it originally? It very well may be coming up.
