The media reference is simply to state that if you base your vote on what you see on TV, you shouldn't be allowed to vote. Unfortunately, too many people watch the garbage that comes out of the boob tube and think it must be true. They always tell you how a candidate voted 50 times to raise your taxes, but they neglect to mention all of the pork belly spending that was on the bill that the voted against also. Bottom line is, turn off the TV.

What has improved since the dems took control of congress? Good luck. I don't know about you, but I can get a helk of a lot of work done in 24 month's.

Frankly I think they should disband the dem. and rep. parties and start over. They should also not allow people to become career politicians and suckle at uncle sam's teet for a lifetime.

Anybody that wants me to pay even MORE TAXES to support a health care system in which the masses get it whether they work for it or not, is for universal healthcare. I already directly pay for 3 people, and I am sure I pay for at least 3 others indirectly, shouldn't that be enough.You can describe it any way you want, it all washes out the same. Did you happen to notice how they don't call it universal health care anymore, but the process and end result seems to be the same......odd isn't it.

The president does not typically control land use issues, but as we have seen in the past (W.J.C) it can be done.

As per any election, you don't necessarily need to have a reason to vote for a candidate, just a good reason to vote against one.

Overall, Chicago is on pace to top 500 murders for the year, the highest since a particularly violent 600+ murders in 2003. The number of "aggravated batteries with a firearm" also increased over the same time period from 2007 with 1,153 being reported so far this year, 245 more than last year. Chicago Police Department Monique Bond claims that gang violence is to blame for the spike in violent crime.

Looks like it's even worse than reported.

If your a lefty that is what you are there is no changing that! I get a kick out of the campaigns and debates because McCain would ask Obama to answer a question and stick to the question. After 5 mins of the smooth talk from the O and the next thing you no your buying a horse and you have totally forgot what the question was!

I just hope that we can find out where and how he raised a 150million dollars in a month? Makes a guy wonder?

Great, glad someone asked. My most important issue is the economy and related items. The 1991/1992 recession, which this is the worst since then, was predicated on the same principles. Historically low interest rates and a banking scandal. Clinton came in and in 1993 raised taxes on the rich what followed was the longest period of expansion in our nation's history. Obama's tax plan is basically the same and he can get it passed.

There are so many other issues, just going over the most relevant in my little world.

For the comment on Obama, there are 59 state senators and however many members of the house in Illinios. He cannot directly affect the crime rate in Chicago. That is more the Mayor and City Council. That would be like saying the declining home values in Arizona right now is solely the responsibility of McCain. (I know you said keep McCain out, but needed it for a point).

Yes, I just bought a 2009 27 foot Toy Hauler, made in Indiana. But, this is beyond spending money, that really just delayed and made this problem worse. Clinton's recession (2001/2002) should have been worse, but Bush cut taxes, lowered interest rates, and urged spending.

Definetely agree. Though both have said they are going to cut to pay for their proposed programs (both have close to $1 trillion in additional spending if all their plans go through).

McCain wants to freeze all spending across the board. Obama wants to look at the programs and cut spending where he thinks necessary. Truthfully, neither will happen. But I prefer the specific cut method better than the freeze all spending method (which includes no COLA raises for any government employee).

As for where the money is coming from? China, at least partially. And partially from the sell off of the stock market into T-bills. (the Federal Reserve needed the market sell off to pay for the $700 billion bail out package, notice the correlation?).

Exactly, actually I will be at the casino (well all three of them) for business, so can't gamble there...

The cool thing about MT, I go sledding during the day, then come home and ride my fourwheeler around town. It is often 60 degrees in town and snowing or just snowed in the mountains. And quads are street legal here.

What does the president have to do with the violence in an entire country, everything. The USA is a lot bigger than Illinios, how's he going to handle that?

Both of these candidates can flap their gums about tax plans and social programs, but that certainly doesn't mean they will ever see the light of day.

Energy independance, don't hold your breath. Everyone complains about the GOP and their ties to oil, but I don't recall slick willie shutting off the pipeline to the middle east either.

Just a quick point to support a McCain Program. I work for a large corporation. Lower corporate taxes would allow us to expand in to the future, spend more capitol to open more branches, thereby creating jobs and increasing tax revenue for the government. The adds about McCain giving tax breaks to rich corporations are a load of feces, which brings us right back to my point about not watching TV.
