Apparently, this hasn't been resolved completely, so the thread has returned until the final solution is determined.
Darrin
I don't think that my credibility is in question here...so instead of cutting and pasting every single email that we sent back and forth...I'm going to just give a rundown of what transpired. (If you want the cut and paste for something specific, then ask, but here is what happened.)
I received 14 emails from Ryan on Aug 9th and 10th.
And to each I replied. We dialoged.
On Aug 9th and 10th, I posted MANY times in this thread that Ryan had contacted me and I did post when PayPal had sent notice of payment. I didn't perpetuate any negativity during those two days did I? I clearly stated that Ryan was trying to work with me. Go back and start on post #150 to verify that. I make this point because I have been accused of not working with him and being unprofessional about how I handled this.
Anyway, He did show me a couple of ebay cranks and we did talk dollar amounts and which crank is the proper one that would reflect the crank that I was supposed to have from him.
He wanted to buy one that was cheaper ($300)...and we did discuss why it wasn't right, though he never did understand why.
In each of those emails on Aug 9th and 10th he did request that the thread be taken down because he had offered to settle up on the crank.
Well, given the circumstances I didn't (and still don't) feel that I owed that to him. Instead of trying to clear up the engine issue, he was still worried about his reputation. His sense of entitlement was taking over. EACH email he requested that I remove this thread. WHY? He hadn't paid me any money yet but he wanted his reputation restored.
I posted many times on Aug9th and 10th that he had contacted me and that on the 10th I received an email from PayPal.
I told him that SLP doesn't allow a crank in their door for less than $700, I'd still need to pay shipping, buy pistons, and do machine work on the detonated heads and scratched cyl walls to make this engine like it was advertised.
Eventually, on Aug 10th, he did send me $450 that was the cost of the ebay crank.
I do need to share this quote though...this came in the email from PayPal with the payment.
THIS statement by Ryan was attached to the "Payment under review for 24 hours" flag that PayPal put on the payment.
Scott, this is the refund for you to purchase a new remanufactured crank. If you accept the payment, you agree to remove all posts and threads you created or that have been created as a result of your posts and the issue will be closed.
LMFAO. I guess setting conditions here is something that he feels he needs to do. NO, but accepting the money, I can put it toward a crank and YOU are making it right with the crank. Apparently he feels I owe it to his reputation.
BTW, Ryan did renew his offer to split the cost of some used exhaust valves.
Unfortunately, I still have to do all the rest of that work to make the engine run the way it was advertised. And that still sticks in my craw so I just feels good to get it off my chest.
Why cant SW ban this peice of crap for blatantly ripping a guy off??????
So bigdarrin will kick you off for posting a pic of girls in bikinis but won't ban a guy for blatantly ripping off a reputable member and asset to SnoWest even when all the evidence has been laid out in front of him. It's too bad SnoWest isn't the tight-knit group that it used to be. Seems like this keeps happening more and more and makes it tougher and tougher for members like myself to sell anything anymore.
Sorry to hear about this Scott. I wish you the best in getting it figured out.
bigdarrin- keep in mind you're letting this happen and therefore giving this dbag and plenty others an opportunity to screw over another SnoWest member. Way to support "YOUR" forum
