SNOWEST IS GETTING GREATY

Dude, seriously if you want someone to read your post completely, it would be best to have some sort of structure. Paragraphs are a nice touch as well as complete sentences. Not trying to be a nag, but it is late, I am tired, and dang if that didn't make my eyes cross.

As to your argument, how would that be any different then what they can see now? Aren't you assuming that they are not on here right now? Seems you think that the manufactures will have access to information that they don't already have access to?

sorry ruffy, I didnt write that very well at all...
as to them on here now..yes they are..for sure..polaris requires pictures of a complete sled now for any warranty claim made..but..this isnt there everyday hangout..which it would be for them to basically run all tech stuff on here..big difference....right now..they skim thru here and just get a quick glance..but invite them in to run the show with tech stuff..and they will be intimate with every thread on here...

Aren't you making a huge amount of assumptions here. Run all the tech stuff? Says who?

Who is they? Them? Do you not think engineers that build the things come on here and read lots of posts? Do you not think that people in the business are snowmobile enthusiasts as well?

I think your worries are a little out there. Maybe they should just remove the warranty like they do for dirt bikes. 30 day manufacturers defect and that is it.

not really..in a roundabout way I do have ties to the manufacturer..enough to know what they do look for...and i have been involved with other manufacturers as well..and your right..my fears may be over the top..but how upset would you be if the manufacturers did come here..and shortly after you and many others had their warranties voided?

If you made mods that violated the warranty agreement that came with the sled, shouldn't it be voided? Or you're perfectly happy breaking the rules unless you get caught?

you are very correct..my sled is and has been out of warranty....but I know that polaris will and has voided warranties even for running a different brand of oil(same specs..non oil related failure)...I also saw a post one here where polaris voided a guys warranty on his new sled because he removed the foam from under the hood(they claimed slp pipe) when in reality several pic post he had made both prior to and after showed a stock pipe and hood electrical wires in stock location(on slp pipe you have to move the wires or they will melt with the single on it)..so yes it is a real possibility...

I didn't say I thought it was right for a non-related failure to void the warranty, but technically, it does. The manufacturer is well within their rights to void the entire warranty for any violation. It doesn't have to be related.

You don't want to void the warranty, follow the rules to the letter. Mod at your own risk. IMO, not the best route for the manufacturers to take, but I'm not in charge.

I've never had a sled that was under warranty, so I don't know exactly the wording of them you get, but I'm assuming the info is there.

Also, I don't have an excuse for the hood foam example, some people are just harder to work with than others.

I just had to comment when I saw what I thought was you saying you didn't want your warranty voided for things you had done that should void the warranty.

absolutely agree with you..if you mod something and it causes a failure..its your headache....but as an example..the dragons are known for having voltage regulators melt down taking out the stator and ecm..having a pipe on there sure didnt cause the melt down..and should be covered I think..since its a known issue..., but you put a pipe on there with a controller and it goes lean and burns pistons..that is your headache ....my sled only had a 1 yr warranty(08 sled bought in 08)since it wasnt a snowcheck, and I didnt buy an extended warranty..I was simply pointing out a potential problem with having the manufacturers on here..and for that matter..a lot of the riding you see guys do..could be considered competion/pro stuff..which also could void a warranty...

.

That isn't true, a manufacturer can't void the warranty for a non related failure. They may try but can't do so legally but they may force you to go legal. There are two parts to warranty; written and implied warranty are covered in the US by law-the Moss-Magnusson Act. Things like mfct defects are covered under implied warranty and extend beyond the warranty period.

Anyone see how nice the weather is and how green the grass is getting i sure like how we can all get along and i wish we can have a weather related link...did i say how nice it was getting out side....

now he's feigning offense, another reason to not answer the simple clear questions that get asked.

I've never tried to have a discussion with someone & had it feel like such a waste of my time.
I am not sure if this is the case here, but it is something to consider. In many companies based on his (Christopher's)roles that he is required to perform he may be advised by his management not to respond to certain types of questions. I have had the very same type of secenario happen at work where I am self directed for the most part. Was told by my manager not to respond to a customer...so I didnt. Hope all works out to your satisfaction.
Just a thought.

?

not wanting the snow to melt i just wanted to add (we needed a weather related link ) and just chat this is such a friendly thread...

Good point, it just feels like we get talked in circles though...

People ask questions, and we get these little bits of inbetween bs that doesn't relate to what we're talking about.

Wow this is like a debate between repubs and libs, Libs looking for entitlements and repubs paying so the libs can have their entitlements. Just the way im seeing it. Keep payin my Taxes so libs can have all their free programs...Your welcome to those that think things should just be free, and people should work for free so that you can have what you want. If you would like you can figure that the cost of being on here you also get to view the snowest mags and past copies in case you missed them also....Quit pissing and moening and just pay the subcription. life is good.

The questions we're asking (including the people who have already paid...) have nothing to do with the money. We're talking about the future of the forum & how to make it better. There may be bits of negativity & disagreement, but we're all of the same opinion, that the forums should move forward from here & improve so that it will continue to bring in new members and maybe even bring back the people that were actually useful on this forum.
