There is absolutely NO CHANCE whatsoever of us ever seeing anything like those numbers. So how is this going to cost let's say $300,000/year? Somebody is going to be riding new sled's every year.
Its just not going to happen!!

Personally, I'd like to add that over the last couple of years, many people have said things like "so and so doesn't even get on here any more." The main reason for that was the frustrating trend of people logging on here just to pick fights rather than offer solid, sound information about snowmobiling and machine set ups.
We have always known that that sort of thing needed to be dealt with, but simply did not have the manpower to make it happen. The addition of the moderators has been awesome in this regard. They have proven to be more responsible than the self-policing that we were using.
Now, with the changes that are coming, it is less likely that we will have the "my sled can beat up your sled" arguments because the tendency for trolls to just pop in, stir the pot, then leave will be much reduced.
Yes, there will be those that feel that $9.99 is too much to pay for the camaraderie and friendships that have grown from this forum, but I still think that there is an inherent value to this forum and that value is set to increase dramatically going forward.
I look forward to watching this forum thrive and grow like it never has before. And I will do so without having to stress so much about crap that needs to be deleted or moved that I haven't seen. We have people to help take care of that part.

That I CAN FIX!One last note , boy spell check would be a nice addition
If your having magazine delivery problems, please send me a PM with the details and I will pass it along to the person that can resolve that for you.I only have a one year subscription of the mag, so after that year, 9.99 sounds like a good deal because I will actually get to read the mag. someday they will show up right????
Does such a thing even exist??????I'll gladly buy a three year tour if the site adds a 19th "cool thing"......How about an automated grammar feature that can distinguish between "your" and "you're"??????
I am sure that there are delivery costs associated with Canada that are not factored into the USA prices, but I do not know what they are.are the canadian rates two and a half times more than the us rates? would my magazine subscription renewal fee be 14.95 per year u.s. up here in canada?
I could be wrong here but... The way it was told to me....and read in some posts on here by admin of the site...
These forums have been sharing servers and connection with all of the other Harris magazines and LDS publication activities...
Harris owns these servers we are currently using and paid for them as well a the connection that they are hooked up to.
The slow down may have been caused by increased activity of ALL of the users of the servers and not just SnoWest.. this at the same time when the snow-season is cranking up and A LOT more members are loging in now that the season is here.
The new servers, I'm told will stand alone and not be shared by ANY other part of the Harris corporation or for any other activity.
The reasons I'm staying and looking forward to a great site are in this post... have a look.
Thats a fact.A million challenging issues will come that will need to be addressed.
Why invest in all the hardware, maintenance costs, administrative costs, when the forum and db can be ported over to a host that might charge a couple hundred bucks a year for unlimited CPU, bandwidth, and storage with full redundancy/failover capabilities through multiple datacenters? Seems like a huge WOM. It's not like we're processing credit card transactions on this site where you may want more physical control over your infrastructure...
Because such a facility doesn't exist at a reasonable price.
And if everyone would just follow the long standing rules, we would have almost no need for moderators to begin with.
