Snowest becoming a PAY SITE?????

People need to quit being tight @ss's. First off a small fee would weed out some of the people here, that just talk sh!t with nothing really to say. Secondly, I know I've sold every sled and trailer, that I've every put up for sale on this sight, so to me that's worth something. Can't see how a small donation or fee for the year, is going to break the bank with folks. I'm sure running a site of this megnitude isn't cheap. With a subcription to the SW magazine, for the subcription fee you get a magazine. Why should SW be out of pocket $$$ to provide a free site, if their losing money? Seems like common business sense to take donations or charge a small fee for the up keep to run this site. If it cost me ten bucks for the year and I sell my sled on here for 12K like I have the last few years, big f#ck!ng deal.............

this maybe true of weeding out some of the people......BUT.......how many people will be willing to pay to help you out on a thread....say you have a problem with your sled and need advise before bring it in to a shop.......I dont think i will pay to give you advise.......now that it is free you have hundreds and maybe more of people who have gone through your problem and are willing to take out 5 min of thier time to help you.....now to pay and give time out of the goodness of thier heart......you will have 1/10 of the people on this site at most....

slowest was a great site about 5 years ago (join date was when the system changed again)....then the changes came and it fell off....now same old threads come back up and the restrictions are a joke....

as may have said there is may of sites out there to compete with that are free......most will leave if they havent already......alot of people go between a few sites already anyways......

If your going to charge make it free if you get the mag.....maybe a small fee of 1/2 of the mag without forum ......sponsors will leave after traffic slows down and site will close down......dont forget that the people your trying to weed out are young kids in the sport that buy lots of extras for sleds......plus they outgrow things fast and buy more....sponsors should love the young crowd......

a $195 fee and set up will run the traffic and volume that snowest handles. everyone thinks that other site is fast.. wait until a few thousand users are on at once like here. whoever runs that site will get getting notices from the host site about exceeding storage/ bandwidth etc. then what ? upgrade to this it only costs 4 figures now then on and on. will they ask for $$ , will they suck up the cost because they wanna be cool or they are rich? you think the ads will pay for it all? lol. snowest is trying to look long range and stay viable.

If they structured this site like pirated4x4.com where any one can visit and post, but only red star members ~$20 /year get avatars/search function/ sections not available to non payers.. vender need to pay 100/year to sell their wares... true venders not guys selling thier sled. this site would stay alive and do well.
i know i run a few small web sites that have had to expand do to increased traffic.

Once again, a brand new (or alter) member comes to the defense of the site.
Don't forget...
The long time member feel ownership of this site even though we only pay by means of a subscription to the magazine.
It is the member's input that made this forum what it is NOT Christophers changes to it.

LMAO, Twist it however you want. Anybody who knows anything about online forums or ecommerce in general will attest that a paid forum is not a viable business model. Especially in this situation. So again, twist it to make your arguement but I have a grand for SAWS, that if Snowest goes paid less than 5% of the total online viewership will actually pay. In fact I would bet less than 1% would.

I do however agree completely with what you said, the money isn't the problem for most....I WOULD GLADLY PAY A FEE TO HAVE OUR OLD SITE BACK

I don't see that happening though....WHY....Because no one will even admit

You're right. I suppose you can't truly label a voter until he has cast his ballot. That being said, you and I both know what percentage of the total viewership would pay. And it's not good.

With all due respect, neither of you knows who would pay if the site went to some form of a pay site. Neither of you would know what the deal is or isn't until an announcement is made. Without the whole picture, you can't know what you would or would not do. Speculating is just getting a lot of people all ticked off.

Just cool it until an announcement is made. If you don't like the site at that time, just leave. As you keep saying, there are so many other sites that are apparently so much better.

Odd that so many who are so unhappy are still here when there are so many "better" places to be. I don't keep going to a site that I don't enjoy.

Many have and many others like myself are playing in both sites until the pay issue comes up.

Also, I don't know who the paid advertisers are, I don't really care either. I just want to keep the right threads in the right forums. That's the reason I volunteered to be a mod.

If you're an advertiser, send an email to the people you send the money to. That will probably do more good than ranting on here about something you don't have the whole picture for.

I am a member on both sites. Fact is my close friends went over there and asked me to come check it out too. Has nothing to do with Loyalty. I am still doing what I always have done here. I explained this to the Admin and they understand.

My only point is that they don't know what they're "not pleased" with. If you don't like the proposal, by all means, be upset about it and talk about it. It just doesn't do any good to argue until you know what to argue against.

Well like it or not you are a Mod and you must always act accordingly as long as your name is in red and it says Moderator next to it...Sorry, Those are just the facts.

I am a shop Steward for a Union and as long as people know that, I am expected to act in the best interest of both the company's security and the Union's stance.
I cannot shoot my mouth off against the Union even if I had a serious problem with...Say their politics.
I always have to act accordingly.
Whether you want to be listened to as a Mod or just another member here who's concerns are being ignored you do not have that option or privilege ...Sorry.
It's the job, you took it.
Take on an "Alter" like the other Mods who want to express their private opinion.

Some people don't have what it takes...Some can do very well when they try...
