Silvertip's Playground (Highway 80/20/89/49)

LOL....yeah, and I ain't that damn short!!! ;) Plus, Silvertip can give me a bad time as much as he wants, so long as he lets me keep riding with him every weekend!!!

Ride 26 Dec 07

Our ride today was a good one right up to almost the end. We were in a hole with no roads under us and lost a clutch on a sled. To steep and soft to pull him out so we are headed back in the morning. The snow was a lot firmer today than last time out. Covered a lot of ground today early.

Here are some of our Pic.

Another Not So Good Day

I rode with the Nevada City Gang today. Went in and Greg had his sled fixed with in 20 mins. And off we went on a nice COLD ride. Got our selves into another hole and Chuck took the hole left side off him sled. It took up 5 hrs. to get it back to the truck. But before this happened we were having a great ride.

Pic. from Today

Greg's Lonely Sled This is the hole we had to leave Greg's sled in last night. To steep for me to pull him out.

Sunday Ride 30 Dec 07

I rode with Eric and a group of guy from Sierra Sledders out of Cisco. We were the first ones out on the freshly groomed trail and it was nice. It was still raining @ Cisco when we left and when we got to the high country it was very fine snow and VERY FLAT LIGHT. I think I was stuck 5 or 6 times in the bad light. After the clouds lifted a little I didn't get stuck again. Well nice soft powder. Lots of stucks and other things to make for a good ride.

Only got 2 Pic.

Ride 1 Jan 08 A GOODER

I rode with the Nevada City gang and sledhead 95945 today. Did almost 60 miles and had lots of stucks and some real nice climbs. The snow is getting better with ever storm.

Some one asked a while back about French and it still has open water.

Pic for today

James,
I'm hoping to get up your way soon. We ran in stub's (Little Richard) up by Lilly Pond on Sunday. He was saying as soon as you get good snow let him know. He want to go back where you took him before ;)

Anthony no you dont know me and you might be taller then me5foot 6. I didnt realize you were short when I made that comment about that picture I thought they were joking with you because it made you look short and you werent. Sorry

No problem dude, they like giving me a hard time.....and yes, my little 5'9" ain't all that;)

it ain't the size of the boat that floats, its the motion in the ocean...

this next storm is a monster... i suggest you boys follow it out from cali and come ride some deep fluffy pow pow here in utah...

I like this one better phatty......"It ain't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog, that matters most" :) I think we'll be sticking around here for awhile with all of the snow predicted. However, we'll make it your way sometime soon.

after you get the storm ride for a few days, then follow it out east... you want to ride dry fluffy bottomless powder dont you :face-icon-small-win

plus you need to come ride the turbo...

On a serious note:

This big storm is making everbody pretty excited... A good base and the good stuff on top of it....

A LOT OF SNOW IS COMING!!

AVALANCHE RISKS WILL BE CONSIDERABLE!

Make sure you wear your beacon and If you don't own one, BUY IT!

How bad would you feel if you couldn't find your friend/family that got buried... and died because you couldn't find him/her??

Rule for the beacon: Don't have it in your pack...

PUT IT ON, TURN IT ON..... TAKE IT OFF, TURN IT OFF.

Do a check of everyone in your group of their beacon before leaving the parking lot.

If someone in the group does not own a beacon, pressure them into buying one... your life could be on the line if he/she does not have a beacon.

Read up on the use of your beacon, buy brand new batteries for it... get good ones, your life may depend on it .

Have a look at this primer on beacon use:
http://www.backcountryaccess.com/english/education/documents/aviawarenessguide.pdf

If you have a really old beacon, more than 5 or 6 yrs.... consider getting a new one.

Keep your shovel & probe in your pack, not on your sled.

Read up on beacon useage... there is a lot of info out there.

Just because you own a beacon, dont assume you can use it.... do some practice drills with friends.

Also, on the trail... be aware of what is above you... even a small slide can bury you real deep on a trail at the bottom of a hill.

Get the "tracker 101" use DVD, a great idea.

Free beacon clinics on the 1st and 15th of each month at Squaw...

Also see.

AVALANCHES KILL PEOPLE.... MORE SNOWMOBILERS THAN ANY OTHER SINGLE GROUP!!

STAY SAFE OUT THERE FOLKS!
