i am heading up to sicamous in the morning with about 10 guys.. i was wondering how much of a base and powder there is, and if avalanches are a high risk or not.

Very little movin, but we are now getting fresh on crusted slopes and temps are going up so there will be some movement. Today is the seventh day straight, finding pow every day!

BTW I pulled my clutch apart tonight and parts fell out. Is that bad?

Just a note to let you know that Eagle pass was groomed for the first time on Tuesday.. Go to www.sledsicamous.com to the snow conditions section to check out the operators report. Blue Lake, Owlshead and Queest are all now being groomed as well. May your trails be smooth and your powder endless!

eagles gets pretty socked in and if you dont know the area i'd recomend headin to one of the other hills.

Duffman, that was too bad you missed all that pow and sun. Some friends were up yesterday and all our tracks are covered with fresh pow! I will save some for your next trip! Rene.
probed just past the top of skinny ridge and about 6.5 feet, by avy hill was just shy of 6' and by the stash cabin was about 5.5 feet. snow's gettin a pretty good base to it now, still landmines out there tho. this was today (dec. 17th)

I care bud, I have a beautiful wife and 3 cool kids to come home to every day after sledding. Took avy courses,wear a Snowpulse pack, new Pieps Beacon and another avy device I am workin on,my screensaver is a very good friend we lost in Valemont last season.Never smoked anything in my life and never taken a beer to the hill.Always watch for signs and assume every hill is gonna go, even on low avalanche days and I live life to the fullest. I also sold my GSXR streetbike and stay off the TransCanada on long weekends, cause those two things are real dangerous!

So I guess when the avy warnings are good, it means that no slopes will slide and that makes it way safer eh?
We road Owls and Blue this weekend. Pretty cloudy but the snow was great lots of fresh and it was snowing pretty hard. Stayed at the Sundog and had a great weekend of riding to bad the forcast is for sun after we leave!!

The Eagle Valley Lodge is the ideal sledders accomodation. Close to lots of good riding. When we pulled into the Owls Head lot last Friday there were only 2 trucks.
My chain failed and blew out the bottom of my chaincase. We were able to get my sled back on the snow the next morning. Thanks to Jason for welding er up and Rene had a new chain in stock. It is nice to stay at a place with a well equiped shop.....if I was staying anywhere else I would have missed an epic sunny day at Eagles Pass.
Thanks for the hospitality. We are already trying to plan another trip asap.
