what a day! loaded up the dog and the camping gear and headed for the forbidden zone. gonna do a little surviverman the sandman way. road just opened up yesterday, right at moore hill lane the helicopters are filling thier dump baskets out of the north umpqua. when i was going by and a chinook was just finishing, had to use my wipers he went right over the top of me, sweet. stopped by lemelo on my way up, lake is full, say they are still having water problems but there were a few boats out. looks a lot different without snow

got over to the trailhead and started unloading, hosed myself and dog with off and was still being attacked. got all the gear on and headed up the trail, right at the switchbacks looked back at my dog and he was in a cloud of tiny vampires!!! resprayed him and myself but this just seemed to attract more. got about another 1/4 mile and looked down and had at least 10 sucking on my right arm, obviously they were sent from the darkside to make my goal of reaching the forbidden zone impossible

wiped them off me and the dog and continued the quest, only got another 100 yards and i was in a cloud. running low on blood and highly outnumbered we decided to make a hasty retreat back to the truck. was a long journey back with the blood sucking plague chasing us all the way. hit the truck and loaded the gear and the dog and burned rubber. got to the bathrooms by the lake and noticed my ac sunglasses must have fallen off when i loaded the dog, was no way i was going back. so if anyone sees them let me know! decided to head back to the top of kelsay and camp at the little lake there, pulled in and was unloading the dog and saw the truck was sitting odd, walked around to the passengers side and saw my front tire was half flat

just what i needed, didn't want to deal with putting on the spare so headed back down to lemelo, made it there with about the same amount of air so figured i'd better fill it up and head back down the mountain. just was not to be my day. does les ever have all these troubles???

to top it off got home and got out of the truck and out flies a couple of the pests, i'm sure thier off multiplying right now to be ready when i come out of the house in the morning. bastages...
