What kind of sled towed you and your friend out last season.Thats the sled you should be looking at.I know where you can get some at cost upto -$700.00 rebate
Dan has started Dan's Motorsports in Salem. He is a independent shop, non franchised

Only spoken with Dan a couple of times on the phone, my friend James mentioned his new business, seems like a real nice guy. Gave him some copies of the newest edition of the mag..... I guess we are going to have to make a trip down towards Medford/Salem to go sledding sounds like some nice areas to ride.

what a perfect day saturday was, blue skies and temps in the 80's:) unloaded the quad at the bottom of kelsay and headed up the hill. headed straight for the forbidden zone, was not to be denied today. got to the bottom lake and the campground was packed, started talking to a couple down by the lake and left my quad in thier campsite and hiked to the upper lake with the hubby. most of the blood sucking plague must have had the day off because i only got bit about 15 times on the way up:) quite a little hike up to the lake, a little over an hour of fast walking, the view when you get there is worth every step. was surprised to see at least 50-75 people were camped all around the lake. people were even swimming, walked around to the backside and took a swim myslelf, the healing waters felt sooooo good!!! took some pics and headed back down the trail. decided to loop around and check out a few other favorite spots past the goat road. the gravel pit climb sure looks more tempting every year. would be a tough climb. hit my favorite lunch spot had some grub, got the idea to do a little summer/winter montage and grabbed a couple of shots. got up to the top of the goat road, now i know why they named it, quite the drive it would be on a wet and rainy day. drains, rocks, ruts, thought i saw i dead body on the side near a big hole:) didn't dare stop to check it out for fear i myself may never leave. heck of a view from the top, the marsh at the bottom in the summer is almost neon green. could see diamond peak still had a little pow, did someone say lowsnow shootout;) thielsen and bailey both looked bare. headed back to the top of kelsay and wanted to go to calamut up through linda lake but was late and decided it would be best to save that trip for another day...

nice pics! I can't wait for this year. Ron, if you ever get a chance you have to come down and ride my spot with me. If teh snow is low enough we can ride rigth out of my driveway. if it isnt we will have to trailer up about 5 miles from my house! You wouldn't believe what is waiting out there! The most people I have ever seen other than the group I ride with is 4 others and we cover a lot of miles out there!

You better call me. Hopefully will be a clear day so we can see where were going.

sounds great, already have riding partners for a weekend, now we just need snow! heck theres only like 65 days till the lowsnow shootout:) called trenchdigger just the other day to see if he's got his mini tank ready to go yet, takes him months to get ready to go anywhere! sure he's busy right now adding some more anti-light weight parts. still wondering what i'll be riding this season, guess i'll have to make a choice by then. heck maybe i'll even be able to retire the "i'm a loser and have no friends can i ride with you?" thread, but i wouldn't count on that yet;) hey you guys let me know when your ready, since i try and ride every weekend am always in need of someone to let me tag along!!! don't forget have a couple of "OK" places up around my area you guys might find worth filling your tanks for... hey dave, things still a go for labor day??? got the trail from linda to calamut still to check out before the snow.

Andrew I will call you for sure when it gets to be that time! If it is a clear day you will be so amazed what is up there. We were so close last time and you couldn't even see what was waiting for you.
Ron, I will be coming up to Diamond Lake for sure this year! I only got to go up there once last year and it was soooo stormy we barely rode. You have to come down here one day for sure too! I'd also like to hit Shasta once this year. Never been there, and I am also gonna try to hit the snowpark out near Susanville, Ca once.

catfreak, sounds great! will probably come over on saturday or sunday depending on which day is supposed to be better. noticed the little devil in your post, is the sandcar possesed??? will pm ya when the time draws near. trenchdigger and a bunch of his buds are heading over this weekend. he just built a 400 polaris scrambler hillshooter, guess he loves his tanks in the summer and winter...

rode this weekend out of south deer creek, just outside of dixonville. was trying to get over to cavitt creek. tried the whole day to find a way through but they've blocked off all the roads that connect to that side. even tried the way through the ranch just past lane mt. and the bastages had taken a bulldozer and made a stack of slash 15 feet high where the roads connect:( then tried to go to the backside of lane and connect there, tank pit!!! found a connection that put me through to the lee's creek road on the north myrtle side. found the penstock they used when the were hydralic mining up there. a couple of real good spots to check out the mountainsides they had blasted. also headed up to china ditch, is a short hike down the trail, man they dug that whole thing for miles through the middle of nowhere by hand, glad it wasn't my job:) tons of deer up there, the fawns are getting to be half the size of thier moms now. stopped at the ranch and had my lunch with a group of cows, tried to share but seems they weren't too interested in my roast beef sandwich. maybe they could smell a relative??? hit the truck just before dark and headed home a little dejected, must of spent 8 hours trying to get through with no luck, if i only had a shovel i would have made it through the tank trap:) heres a pic from the ranch looking north between glide and dixonville. almost forgot there was a fire up north, when i first looked thought it was odd that it was raining in just one spot, after a minute realized it was smoke and not rain.

labor day riding, always a thrill! wanted to head up and ride on sunday but checked the weather cam and it was raining, so waited till monday. good choice, clouds and rain gave way to sunny blue skies:) found dave and his group up by the road that goes up to charlie field, showed them the way up to calamut via the old way. for a road/trail that isn't even on the map or able to be seen from the road it is in very good shape. picnic tables and even a rough pottie up there, sweet;) tried the trail from linda, the beggining isn't bad, but get about half way there and it narrows and there was a stump right in the middle of the trail on a loooooong sidehill so scraped that idea. came across a couple of hikers, they didn't seem too happy to see me bouncing down thier trail. did finally get to see the ever elusive charlene lake, have seen it on my map for years and thought it was a ghost lake, well i'm here to tell you its for real! after calamut dave and his crew had to head down the hill so i headed up to charlie field, there is an awesome view of bailey and thielson from there. got to the spot and broke out lunch and enjoyed the view, was looking at the ridge up by cinnamon butte and remembered we have been talking about going up there but the road is closed to motorized vehicles in the winter. found that out a few years ago when me and a buddie unloaded there and had the greenines waiting when we got back;) so decided to call my master of insider info rambob and get the scoop on the way up. got the lowdown of where to go so hit the truck and headed to the bottom of the road. unloaded and headed up, rambob says he's pretty sure that this is the highest road in douglas county. gets almost to 7k, what a view. road ends just past a hiking trail that heads into the wilderness, greenies there also didn't seem to be too happy about my motorized mode of transportation. did they forget they drove thier car up to the trailhead??? if your on a quad you can go the last mile they have plugged to the big clearcut you can see from windigo. when i got there something was making a lot of noise down in the bottom of the cut. was wondering if i was gonna make it out alive!!! view from up there is unreal, could see all the way up to the sisters i think, big mts. with snow still all over the top. rambob told me pretty peggy should be manning the lookout tower up on cinamon butte so headed up there to check out the view. WOW, is well worth the trip, the view not peggy, unbelieveable!!! you can see lemelo, diamond, and anything near from up there. peggy invited me up to check out the view from the top of the watch tower. can you say SCARY, i'm affraid of heights and was hoping she didn't hear me crying like a little girl on the way up, even a better view from up there. awesome place, very quite and peaceful. would love to spend a summer up there just watching the clouds roll by! this made an already great trip one to remember. was getting late by now and was time to get back to the truck and head back down the mt. does every person who can only drive 45mph go to diamond lake. if you see 15 cars lined up behind you it would be nice of you to pull over and let the rest of us who have a life and know how to drive get past. these people should be ticketed for annoying me:) some pics of the ride...

rode just about every inch of south deer creek this weekend from east to west. found an abandoned geo at the west end and a mazda at the other. pretty impressed they got them to where they did!!! unless you do a lot of riding through the ranch at the east side theres no way to get to glide:( lots of ways to get to north mrytle though, bee bopping through the ruts was a blast, love to get on 2 and 3 wheels. talked to an old timer down by where they used to hydro-mine. there are a ton of private claims up that way, had no idea. he didn't look too rich so my guess is its not a real money maker. was reading the sign about china ditch, chinese spent 3 years digging a 5 foot deep by 5 foot wide ditch from little river to north myrtle, they got 30 of the 33 miles dug before the outfit they worked for went belly up. wonder where the connection on little river is at??? think snow, october is just around the corner, low-snow shootout time:)

Did ya check out the forecast for Monday in the Burg? Freaking 102!!! What is that?????? I'm still not quite ready to wind down from golf season or to put the top up on the jeep but that is crazy!!

yeah, thought the 90 degree days were over!!! hopefully the heat will evaporate some water and get some moisture headed our way. need snow for the low-snow shoot out...

no riding this last weekend, had the grandsons first birthday!!! PARTY:) weather is looking great for this weekend, don't know how many more we'll have before the rain starts. still want to get up to quartz mt. and out towards french junction. this should be a good weekend for that trip. ordered all the mods for the precious today, since i'm not buying new maybe the money i spent will make it seem new;) will get me by for another season, now if the economy would just get better so i can afford the gas!!! heres a pic of the little man going to town on his first birthday cake...
