Rush 800 at Dynotech

My 09 M8 has only 145 hp and it makes me pretty damn happy, my sled is also 20 lbs. heavier than the Pro RMK. My sled will out perform the older mod sleds (ZX and Edge) that have 10-15 more horse power and keep up with the XP that has 5-7 more HP and 15 lbs. less weight. 431 lbs. and 143 hp is 3 lbs. per hp, that is very respectable and less lbs. per HP than my 09 M8 at 3.1 lbs. per HP and real close to the 2011 Cat and Doo about 2.8 lbs. per HP. So all the RMK needs is abou 10 more HP and it will be at 2.8 lbs. per HP just like the other 2 mountain sleds. If I could afford to keep my Cat and buy an RMK I would!

@50 degrees F, 2011 preproduction 800 stock makes
143.2hp and 92.9lb-ft @8100RPM
After PCV tuning for max HP
150.2hp and 95.1lb-ft @8300RPM
But the 2011 800 had 10 more hp @7000 RPM than the 2010s so power through the midrange is improved...
All according to the report posted on DynoTech

This is info that came from the local dealer in bend or. The maker of the ecu told Polaris that they could get 14 hp more out of the motor by just changing the mapping in the ecu. Mind you this is word of mouth but if true this motor will rock and the Polaris has by far the best clutch out there. Maybe it will have the team tied clutch too, Hope so. that is my 2 cents :beer;

really? yes.
Polaris is trying to sell more sleds by not publishing #'s knowing it would hurt sales.Polaris knows the #,I read 154 hp somewhere, isn't this a whole new motor?last year #'s 147ish this year nobody knows.what do they say fool me once blah blah. The big four will mislead to sell product and the lack of responce from polaris makes me think twice. All i want is 154hp and i'll write the check.163 i'll buy two

Wow, conspiracy theory and all. As someone else pointed out, you aren't going to get any HP numbers from any of the OEMs 'official' sources because of the lawnmower class action lawsuit.

And you will throw away the opinions of at least 2-3 DOZEN people who have ridden the sleds and say how close they all are because you either don't like or don't get a dyno HP number.

Whatever, don't buy the Pro, you aren't getting the numbers, EVER, so don't buy it, buy the Doo, the dyno numbers are the highest on it. We are talking 20+ hp difference between the ETEC and the Polaris... really, do you think that's true in the real world after all the posts about how close they run to each other. That's nearly 15% difference... I'll throw the bullshiz flag.

But your call, if the number freaks you out then don't buy it... it's that simple, don't let them trick you in to buying a piece of underpowered junk.

The lack of response is because of lawyers, haven't you seen the pending lawsuit ads on tv about lawnmower hp. It will result in no power advertised for anything.
Gotta love those lawyers, anything for a buck

Hey....I am married to one and she is one FINE woman.....:face-icon-small-hap

I rode the PRO-RMK today as well as a 2010 M8. I would say that the M8 has more power than the Pro, but the Pro is no slouch either.

Some guys lined up for a couple of pulls, unfortunately the M8 was no longer around, but they lined up the Pro, an XP that I don't know anything about and an Edge Mod sled with an 800 xcr triple putting out somewhere around 175-180 with a 174 x 16 track. Conditions were heavy slushy spring snow. Here are the results.

Thanks for the vid. I guess I didn't see a 20hp difference there. Now throw in a bunch of trees and a foot of snow, and I think the is where the ProRMK is really gonna shine.

C'mon Jim...

Are you sure???

A dialed 860 from Carls cranks out the HP.... Been on one... And had some very good saddle time on the new sleds...I doub't it would even be close... Jack does not have to meet EPA considerations which is the BIG (huge) hoop that Polaris needs to jump through.

Outperformed? What does that mean? Out sidehilled, out drag raced??

Jacks "dialed" 860's have everything on them... Holz front with Carls custom valved Float R's, Alpha X rear (a more refined version of what is in the PRO) and lots of other tricks.

Granted, on the 2011, the Steering is more precise and the sled sidehills better because it doesn't drag fenders on the hill... It is probably lighter than the Dragon but to say that it outperforms a dialed 860 in context of a thread that is talking about HP numbers... HMMM???

Did you talk to Jack about this?

I agree with Mountain on this one, Comon...STOCK 2011 Pro out performing a Carsl 860 Dragon, pick the year 08, 09 or 10.:hurt: Either Jacks, 860 is a POS which I doubt or the 2011 was not stock pre production (Possible Jack tinkering) or three which is most likely SALES PITCH!!!!!! Lets face it, it's the middle of snow check season and ALL manufacturers are going to BOAST their sleds. I do believe Jim's DTR numbers though, have not seen many of his numbers be far off. Even if this sled is down on HP if you like it snow check it period, that is what I did when I bolted from Poo and went to an 09 cat. I knew the sled didn't have the numbers of either the Doo or Poo but I was tired of dealing the my Poo motor problems. NOW the motor on this new Poo that is where I'd get a little squeemish about it. Look at the recent track record, 800bb broken crank, 900's enough said, and the latest 800s with major top end burn down problems. The Pro is a sweet sled and I DO hope polaris got this one right but I'm going to sit on the porch this year and watch how it sifts out.

800 HP numbers

I told my dealer that after my last 800 (which was the "dud" DTR predicted when stock), I won't even consider buying until I see happy owners and glowing reports on the forums. Even then, I'm not sure I'll buy unless it's a carry-over sold at a big discount so I can justify the time and $$ I'll probably have to spend to make it perform the way it should have in the first place. These things are $12K, I shouldn't even have to TOUCH it outside of some suspension adjustments. As far as the comments about "Just ride one...", I've ridden the new 800's all along and the pre-production sleds I've been on ran really well. We all know how that turned out for more than just a few buyers. I'm all out of "hope" - time to see some results....

If Polaris introduced the new PRO RMK at 431lbs and said it was only going to be a 700 I would still snowcheck one.
IMO their past sleds regardless what years were strong runners and were quite easily modded to your liking.
I ride with several D7s from different years and in the steep and deep I have seen them out climb and out manouver many 800cc sleds Revs, XPs and Cats.
So why does a 135HP 700 outperform many 150hp sleds?
It is what it is.
The only question for me is the new 800 more reliable than the past?
There are a lot of reliable strong running D8s out there, however unfortunately some of you have had too many issues.

A snowcheck should really include a PCV with Jim's map!!!

To be honest the 2011 motor is based on the same architecture as the older sleds so I doubt there is going to be or will be any great hp gains. Polaris probably figured it was easier to shed 30lbs instead of finding 10-15hp.

I am just surprised to see so many guys dropping their turbo sleds to get one of these.

Don't a lot of sled engines need rebuilding after 1700 miles? If not I am sure it would be down on power from new.

I snowchecked a Pro-R 800 and I belong to DTR. When I read Jim's report I dam near crapped my pants. Today I went to my dealer and canceled my Pro-R and got my $500 back and went to a Doo dealer and bought a MXZ-X 800 E-Tec.

seems like i'm not the only one concerned

Good, I hope there are many more out there like you so that way not everyone and their mother will have the same sled as me.

People and dyno numbers.:face-icon-small-con
I haven't been beat by a dyno yet.:face-icon-small-ton

i cant remeber when polaris had a 700 or a 800 that was a world beater, the f7 days that motor would beat anything. the 800 ves was a slow pig that the 600 ves would destroy off the line. I remeber the old 800 doos too that were wicked fast as well..........i dont remember polaris ever having a awesome mod power like motor EVER as a big bore. THey always needed a pipe and some clutch work and some different gearing then they could hang or beat other competitors...

That's funny **** there! The dyno numbers from a sled that isn't even out yet convinced you to walk away.
