I agree, this IS a big deal.
BUT.

We are in the middle of july and even if I send out 85,000 PMs, most of them will NOT be read for another 2 months till our members start coming back online. Right now most sledders are NOT thinking about anything to do with sleds. The timing of this is HORRIBLE for getting people to participate in.
Like it or not, its just a fact. This is dead center in the middle of the OFF SEASON.

I would suggest we not do anything till we see what the ISSA comes back with in another week or two.

Then you take some time and craft a good letter and create a brand new thread with a KILLER OPENING post. You only get ONE SHOT at this. Make it count..

Here are a couple ideas,

-New film teasers can be watched with submitted comment

-Drawing for all who submit comment to win new videos, gear, etc...

-last but not least anyone who comments can BLOCK christopher on the PM option.

Given that comment period closes August 4th and not everybody checks their PMs right now....EVERYBODY checks their emails year round.

Yeah, Thought that was pretty obvious myself... After all if there is no place to ride Snowest will no longer be needed.

ding ding..
lets stop the train from sliding back word to using the power of the social media we have and turn this into a bullet train and fly forward.
I have emailed Sandra from Idaho State Snowmobile Association and Stan Spencer from the Backcountry Sled Patriots, Sandra will be sending us information on the comment period and what the details are.
So as Christopher has said get the troops ready we have one shot at this.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ALL SLEDDERS, ATV ,UTV, MOUNTIAN BIKERS, VENDORS, DEALERS, ETC ,ETC,

this will affect more than just sledders this can be a tool for ALL users of the lands we OWN!!!!

a little update
Sandra From the land use person for the ISSA(Idaho state snowmobile association)
and Stan Spencer the President of Backcountry Sled Patriots are both working on the letter that Christopher said we get one shot at.
they should have us something in the next week to ten days..
Keep the letters going and spread the word.

On a side note many think this is about reopening lands to motorized use and feel were wasting our time.
THEY ARE WRONG!!!
this IS about sleds being looked at differently due to snow use, AND about taking forest control back to the state level and not some yoyo in desk in washingtoon DC

is it a waste no!! we have had success already.

Keep in mind that the USFS and BLM DO NOT want this. It is being pushed by WWA and is not something the govt really wants to deal with. They do not have the resources to enforce this type of closure and they know it.

If you pay attention you will see the historical trend is that the USFS does what is easiest for them. Wilderness closures, for now, seem like less work to them so they are supported. Motorized closures get the whining greenies off their back so they make some to appease.

Fact, We will never have enough support to out letter the greenies, never. They make it their lifes work, are you all willing to quit your jobs to take this on? Anything less is a waste of your time in my experience.

Fact, the ONLY way we successfully stop or reverse closures is to become a bigger thorn in the govts side than the greenies. This means civil disobedience, law breaking, unfortunately. We need to show we use the land. If you fall into their trap and stay off all the illegally closed lands, we will lose them.

We consistently lose these battles because we let them take the offensive and make the rules, not because we don't write enough letters. I wish us all good luck, I will send my comment but realize it isn't going to be the comments that drive the decision, that is a lie.
