how high is revy? if its up over 5000 ft leave the tip weight off...if its over 7000 leave all weight off the mtx's... the 2 gram tip and 1 gram belly is what i run under 3000 ft..normally swap them(2 gram belly and 1 gram tip) for up to 5000 ..

riding there will be from 3500 to 8000. most between 6000 and 8000. well im happy you told me that lol i wouldve ran the 2g tips up there. rode it today with 3g tips and 1 gram in the belly at 1500 and damn it pulled good. guys i cant express how happy i am with this new 2010 dragon!!!!

what kind of rpm did you see at 1500 ft? It should have been real snappy any where in the bottom to midrange and pulled pretty hard all the way thru to max rpm..on the 08/09 updates I found best performance with the slp single in the 8350-8450 range....this 010 update may thorw a loop in there but hopefully it just pulls even harder....

I couldnt tell, I was afraid to look down, i seen 8300 at one point. I was in pretty low-snow conditions so it was hard to get a good idea of how it was hooking up out of the hole as the track would just spin out but the mid and top were sick and the backshift was great!

on your guage display it has a max rpm and mph screen..its easy to use and allows you to keep your eyes on what your going to hit...:D

Well, my buddy bought me a Carls setup for working on his sleds. I was hot to try Ron's weights with the Carls helix but he had it ordered for me already. Will try the 68 gram EPI's with the helix, 2 delrins, on a new 09 with 2010 updates at 3,000-6,000 on a 155 with SLP Pipe. Will it be a trencher, lol?

Also need to add a big thanks to RON and AKSNOWRIDER for their clutching info.

thanks Dave, I think with the bigger initial angle you will find it trenches less..I think you may end up wanting either the blue/pink or green/pink primary spring..that will get the snappy back into the low and mid area....

Yeah I still havent gotten around to learn how to use all the features, too excited to ride all the time lol

lol..yeah I think I road mine for 500 miles before I realized it had it..it sure is good for testing..you can clear it while you ride so its easy to do it right before you hit a climb and then look after you get back down....

800poodragon how did you determine what helix to run in the team tied. I really want to run the clutch but do not want to spend a fortune buying helixes to figure it out. I know they say it should pull about 14 degrees more angle but dont want to go primarily off of that. I wonder if carls cycle has a setup for them yet, surly they had a tied secondary and testing it last year. I talked to slp at the puyallup snow show and he said they had been testing last winter with it and that they had a setup but would not say what it was.

Sorry I did not reply to you earlier...did not get back to this thread for awhile. I bought the clutch from SLP and they told me what cut they did some of their testing with. It did not sound like anybody got to much time on the Team Tied last year...everybody is still trying to work things out...that is why this year custom cut helixes are the "regular" price so everybody can experiment I guess. I went with SLP's recommendation on the helix and spring. It seems to work ok so far. I have been out twice on it and have tried two different weights, I take a few other items with me each time as if something is really off I can change it, otherwise I have been giving it a days riding to try each different setup. I can see I am going to have to put the old secondary back on to see what the difference from the update actually is then see how the clutch actually is working and which direction I need to go. Hard to see what is working and what is not when you change to many things at once. If you want to know anymore let me know.

Well I think I am going to try your set up AK. 09 dragon 155, stock except for the new update with slp can. Gunna go with the 68 gram mtx weights, but going to try to keep the stock helix 56-42-.36. I might go with a little less spring pressure in the primary, I thought i read you were engaging around 4500? maybe the blue/pink 140/340 will be more to my liking. Oh yeah, I ride mostly 2500-5500 feet

I recalled my max rpm last night and it was 8350 with the 3g tips and 1g in the belly. Not too shabby since its still passing the premix through it. I was also suprised to see 10-62's in it from the factory, sounded a little light to me

when you have it on max rpm you can cycle thru the same page and it shows max mph as well..when you clear 1 it clears both..now you can see if its pulling both rpm and mph..and see what helps and hurts...., my sled came from the dealer with 10-68's for sea level to 3000 ft...

with the smaller initial angle you will like the blue/pink better I think..the green/pink is too much for the lesser angle...you might need to add a little more rivit weight in the belly to make it upshift harder..

Where is the best place to buy a 64/42 .46 helix. Carls doesn't have it in stock. Would like it asap!!! Any leads would be great, wouldn't mind used if you got one!!!
Thanks guys

Darin

Mine was set up for 6000'-8000'. Odd that it ran so good at 1000' (8350rpm and 83mph)

Edit: I forgot to mention that Ive been running an SLP pipe set since new

AK, Champyfz450, Winter4ever, Lots of good info thanks, I am installing my slp
single this week going to go with stock secondary, 68 mtx weights , blue/pink slp spring
still wondering about the rivets, thinking about 1 gram tip 2 gram belly I ride from 2000ft to 6000ft I have 09 D8 163 with all new updates, I have put about 90 miles on, so most of the oil should be gone. do you think I am on the right track for my elevations?

yes it should be a good starting point....with the stock helix it may need more weight ..might want to go to 2 in the tip and 3 in the belly...did you get slp's tool? that really helps for doing on the hill adjustments....

Thanks AK, I ordered the tool last night, might have it here on Friday, I think I'll
try your suggestion and put more weight to start, will let every one know how it turns out.

AK I took my sled out for a run did not have good snow conditions so most of testing was on the trail, I am very pleased, pulled real hard, would hit 8200 rpm to 8300 from 2000ft to 4000 ft, at about 5000 ft to 6500ft only 8100 rpm at best, I found one hill to do a short pull only did about 8000 rpm.all ways seem to pull real hard even at the lower rpm's. air temps in mid teens. track speed 38 mph at best on the hill.
I have 2 grams tip & 3 gram belly, can you tell me what dose the weight in the belly do compared to the tip, and what would you suggest I change to give me a little more rpm at 5000 ft.

basically more/less weight in the tip is a course adjustment and the belly is a fine adjustment..I would pull a gram from each...so 1 tip 2 belly and it should pick right up to 8200-8300 at alt..but you may have to be careful at lower elevations(may run over 8500)just play with the rivits and see what works..might end up with 3 in the belly and none in the tips...works best if you use slps rivit tool out on the hill and use the max speed/rpm memory to verify the results...
