Push turbo G kits starting numbers

Its time to tune in my sled. Its a 2010 M8 with the 2011 fuel map. Sled is going to be running 2 gallons of race gas and 8 gallons of pump. I belive it is set at 5-6Lbs Boost and fuel pressue is at 39PSI. elevation is 5-7k feet, tuning will be done at 6k.

What numbers would be a good starting point on the EFI box?

Thanks for any and all help.

Took it out today. Runs good, but is rich.

I climbed a hill, and it sounded like it was sputtering if I was at WOT for too long. Then the OCTN would flash on the gauge. what causes that?

And do I want to run the -2 degree timing key? What is the latest on those?

How much boost. Sounds like your running out of injector to me. Turn the boost down tilll the code goes away( lengthen the wastegate linkage). That is the problem with that kit you need a high output fuel pump to keep enough fuel in it. The new G kit has another injector in the charge tube to compensate for the turbo being to small and making a ton of heat and causing deto.

I have an 2007 with the G kit and I am having the same problem, have the third injector in the charge tube. I routed the coolant thru the throttle bodies and the turbo which might be causing the sled to get hot when its wide open for a period of time. Its seems the main problem is engine heat. I cannot lean the sled enough to even get hot EGT temps. If I got any kind of instructions I would have known that you delete the heat to the throttle bodies and just go to the turbo. If thats not it I am out of ideas to keep it from detonating!!!

My EGT's have hit 1170, and its as lean as it goes. Fuel pressure is still at 40PSI. What fuel pressure and boost are your running?

octane code

IT will show the OCTN code if it over revs and it will sound real funny like a sputter. What RPM are you hitting at full throttle? Bad fuel or? tell us more details.....

mtn rider I read your post again.... I dont think you should run out of injector as we are running 8 psi at 800ft elev with no issues(Only the 2 stock injectors). It sounds like you have the same issue as a buddy of mine on his G kit first time out he was over reving hitting the rev limiter and threw the octane code then he added some more weight to bring rpm down. I think his was sputtering around 8400. :face-icon-small-con

Over reving sounds like a good play, I will ad weight tomorrow, I am running 35lbs fuel 8lbs boost and numbers ken gave me for 7-10000ft where I am running, the over rev makes sense, my buds boondocker ran 78gram and I am running 75. yea the highest temp I saw was 1170 as well. thanks for the idea.
If I add fuel it bogs because it is to rich and then i start to take fuel out it starts the sputter at WOT , It gives the code and seems to throw fuel but as I let off the code goes away. But as before over reving would make sense..

I would check and see what rpm it runs first but up to you. I think my buddy is running 80s now but then we run down to 800 ft elev. good luck!

I will try adding weight before I ride again as it does seem like its over reving. I will post my results.

Im running a push kit on my 10 M8... You might be running too much fuel pressure... Im at 38lbs...running 8-9 lbs..stock pump..2 injectors... I did go to a 09 head to loose the det sensors/OCTN sensor... I'm running closer to 4 gallons of race gas...even at 6 lbs... seeing 1275 temps all day long

And throw some serious weight at it... Im running 78 grams.. more weight the better... I hit 82-83... watch for a pipe temp sensor...i lost 3 of them last year..finally did a tricky bypass on my pipe temp sensor and got rid of it..

I got some info from James at boondocker who told me, that it could be a knock sensor failing, Sensor in pipe failing, Or and this is how he fixed one, Close the gap on the plugs to .018 !!

It's not your knock sensor failing, it's your knock sensor doing it's job. It's sputtering because you are detonating and the ECU is trying to save your motor.
Pull out your spark plugs and make sure you still have the electrodes on all four.

I see what your saying, but it shouldnt be detonating. Its running 6PSI with 20% race gas at 6500 feet. I will check the spark plugs.

It will definitely detonated at your altitude with the stock head and that amount of race gas. You'll need at least 50/50 to keep it from detonating, especially if you dont have the new third injector update. Turbo is way too small and creates way too much heat.
