Pro RMK vs. Ski Doo XP

i have a pro 155 i spent 3 days this last week riding with a 154 etec a 08 163 pwr tec, 09 154 pwr tec and a 10 154 pwr tec all sleds completely stock all riders were roughly 200 lbs exc one rider on the 09 pwr tec he was about 150 people on here saying their 08-10 xp's will beat the pro are a bunch of dreaming idiots they are not even in the same league there was times the pwr tecs couldnt go in my tracks but the etec is a different story it runs quite well if we were just pointing and shooting the etec would highmark me by maybe 5-10 feet but my clutching is kinda horrible a short climb my rpms were about 7900-8000 and a long pull i will only rev 7600-7700 i also noticed when i put my sled up today my throttle cable wasnt adjusted right so i wasnt quite hitting full throttle that might be why my rpms were so bad on a longer climb in the trees the pro was clealy the better sled it makes just about any body look like a better rider in the trees in alot of situations i could just feather in and out of the throttle and take my time to pick a good line the etec and other ski-doos couldnt do that they had to be pretty much wide open and ride like a madman to follow my tracks imo the pro is the best sled but ill give ski-doo credit the etec is greatly improved im not brand loyal i ride what ever sled best suites me at the time this year its the pro

then chalk me up as a dreaming idiot......because my experience has been the oposite...

Longgold You started a new thread mentioning that you blow a belt and now with your new one you can't hold RPM.

I think your sled need some setup inorder to be competitive.

I am going to brag here..... So far my 163 has not been beat in a steep and deep climb against any N/A sled.

As far as tree riding it is amazing how slow you can go and not get stuck. (I just wish I was a better rider)

I will give you my honest opinion.

I ride Doo and have a 2011 154 X with E-tec.

I like the superior fit and finish of the Doo and do not like the side panel design of the Pro with those push and turn closures. The guys I rode with were fighting them all day. Throttle was much lighter and the motor smoother on the doo too.

When I rode at 5000-6000 ft with a 155 Pro RMK, I was beating up on it easily in heavier snow. When I went to Colorado and tried clicking up to clicker 6 in dry cakey powder, the RMK's kicked my butt.

2 major things to consider that may explain the varied responses here.

Firstly the E-Tec had huge track speed lower down but you cannot run above clicker 3 or you will have terrible track speed results. To run at altitude requires pin weight removal.

Secondly the polaris has a wonderful track for bottomless soft powder. The paddles just flex over and pack the snow down which lifts the sled up and out of the snow. My E-Tec was trenching as was the M-series cats.

My kids IQ was working very well in these conditions too.

In the spring time the E-Tec and Cats will rule easily over the Pro's.

thats it in a nut shell..the 5.1 track is finicky about the type of powder it responds best too...where the powerclaw and doo tracks work better in a wider range of conditions..really the only way to guage sled only performance would be to install the same track on all 3 brands and run them in a variety of conditions...this is the reason you saw so many dragon owners doing either the PC or the extreme..

Wow. Members who have read this thread : 1769 (Set)

Funny how these kinda threads always get so much action!

Surely someone out there must have the answer!

Where is sl3ds@vior when ya need him......?

Calling you out!

I'm with tree boss. We live in the same town. I switched to the pro this year, had a turbo dragon before that and m sleds several years before that.
I would like to call out ANY Doo rider out there to come and ride in the trees with us. If you can follow me through the thick trees on a steep sidehill on your doo, I will buy you a steak dinner after the ride!!!!!!
I would still love to know how they compare strait up a hill tho. It sounds like there are many varied results!

it sucks when i get up early, ride to my favorite highmarking hill and find it all cut up by underpowered pro sidehillers.:)

pushing your sled along like a skateboard when sidehilling doesnt take much horse power.whoever has the strongest legs wins:)

you got something against pro riders and NOW skateboarders too! did you're daddy beat you with a polaris when you were younger? where are these feelings coming from? you need a hug and a pro and you'll be fine. (and get the hug from grandma cause i sure as hell ain't doing it)

Ask all my buddys that have xp's and cracked bulk heads how well built their sleds are

They should stop hitting stumps, rocks, whatever. What about the super strong a-arms on the Poo's. Just saying, really just about the rider. I guess we are assuming that all riders are equal, put Brandt on a 5 year old mountain sled and I bet no Pro or XP would be able to keep up. They are both nice sleds, as soon as Poo finds that missing 20hp and Doo finds the missing clutch, they will both be rock stars
