Pro RMK vs. Ski Doo XP

Im might be going to blackfoot in a couple weeks, I'll bring my Etec. Just need a tour guide :)

Perfect, just try and give me a couple days notice and I should be able to meet up. I don't know the Rexburg area at all but if you want to come down here to SE Idaho I can show you some awesome country and we can have some good comparisons, just remember 100% stock on this e-tech no can no clutching and I would love to go and ride!!

I hope you like boondocking to cause point and shoot isn't my thing but I want to see how this e-tech stacks up against this Pro.:face-icon-small-coo

Hey I'llDooit you seem to like to give out bad rep to me so much how about you drive down here and I will give you some free lessons of tree riding 101. 30 minutes into this ride and that XP your so proud of will have you panting like a dog trying to even stay close to what this underpowered by 20 horse Pro has for technical riding.

Bring lots of paper and pencils cause your gonna want to take some notes on how much better this Pro is then that XP in technical tree riding :)

remember I rode an XP for 2 years and there is no way your gonna touch this Pro boondocking in the pines

If you ever make to revelstoke let me know. Ill set you up with a local that will test your theory. ILL bet a big bottle of fun you will be out of breath long before he will be. Dont discount what someone who knows how to ride a xp can do. sj

Not one bit do I discount what someone who can ride an XP can do on one, just trying to get some good riding in. I'm not afraid of a little challenge it's what makes all of us better.

but if I ever make it up there I will get in touch with you:face-icon-small-coo

if i make it to revelstroke i'll be one happy snowmobiler, whether i'm on my xp, my pro rmk, or have an M8, that would be awesome to me to ride there.

actually you did look on the end of page 2 of this thread. I talked about how XP's need a clutch kit to perform and you did give me neg rep and that's fine, it's just the truth and you acknowledged it cause you said yours came with rooster built clutching when you bought it!!!

You like your XP, I like my Pro no need to get panties in a wad over it.

Hillclimbr, that would be awesome! Its all stock so no probs comparing. I dont know for sure if I am going but will know in a week or so.

I will say this....my assualt trenches.... And it likes to flip over backwards. But it is an Assualt, not an RMK.

On a side note, the XP's i rode with had problems geting up some of the draws i was in when i was at cooke. IT could be the rider... but it shouldn't HAVE to take a pro sleder to take an XP through the trees. By no means am i saying you can't boondock an XP, but it takes alot more work than a Pro OR a kitty.

Sounds good, the comparison will be very quick as I'm sure your like me and it really doesn't matter who's sled gets the highmark we all just want to go and ride.

We just get on Snowest to past the time:face-icon-small-coo

Very true^^^

There are tons of good videos out there of guys boondocking the XP's but for me it was all fight and tiring within an hour.

Look at how well Jay Mentaberry rocks his XP in last years Summit HD film, he tears it up on that XP but it will be interesting to see how well he does this year on a Pro. And I know he doesn't miss the XP just cause of how well the Pro does for him. I rode his Pro back in November and sold a TT Cat that I had only owned for a month because of how well I could handle the Pro and how much power it had. They are all damn good sleds and I'm glad that all 4 companies keep putting these chassis out for all of us to enjoy:face-icon-small-hap

Lot's of chest beating going on in this thread.....

I don't own a Pro or an Etec. I've rode both of them though. Both are good. I really like the feel of the Pro. After riding a NOISY turbo sled, I really like how quiet the Etec is.

Last weekend while loading up after a ride a young kid pulled up and asked if we'd be willing to help 4 guys in his group get out of a nasty hole. We followed the kid to where his group was. They dropped into a nasty drainage with no exit except for up. They had been trying to go up the tracks they made when going down into the hole. All 4 guys were riding XP's with 163 tracks. One was a new Etec.

Due to the drainage being littered with tree's, going straight up wasn't possible. We had to switchback and sidehill. I have a turbo so I was able to make a track out. I re-rode my track down to the bottom again and watched as the group started getting stuck. It was frustrating. Keep in mind, these guys were tired already and I was aware of that. The guy with the Etec was a heavy dude, probably 260lbs +. He was struggling and after getting stuck many times he asked if I'd give it a try. I'm 200lbs now. After my first attempt I realized why these guys were tired. The XP does take more effort to ride. I thought these guys were Sallies as I watched them, but I understood more after I made an attempt. It took me 3 attempts to get that Etec out. The power was good. It was a tough climb and I had to switchback like crazy. When I got to the top, I felt sick b/c I had bent the steering post to the left of the sled and I bent the left running board down so far that the poor guy had to keep his foot in the footwell to ride it out.

Now I'm not going to participate in the debate over which sled has more power. But when I bend and twist a sled after some aggressive riding, there is no way I'd spend money on that sled. I've got over 100 miles on a Pro, and I know that I would have rode out of that drainage much easier on the Pro.

I put over 4000 miles on Polaris Edge sleds and when i sold them they were as straight as the day I brought them home. This is the 2nd XP I've bent in half and neither one was mine. I don't think I'll ride another XP again.

your xp was a tree hugger. Pretty sure it was rider error

i think it might be rider preference:face-icon-small-hap

When i was in cooke, i met the etec guy because he was trying to fix his bent steering post as well. His was bent to the right. Another clue that the XP chassis doesn't handle well is that everyone who rides an XP has a freeking 8" bar riser.

my gramma boondocks the xp and loves it.if you need schooled on how to ride a xp,ill send you her phone #.
