Petersville 2009/2010

Nice swamp shots Dasha. Gotta love those bumps, jumps, and stucks!!! Sure did get lucky with the tree there. We had one hidden stump hit in our group too.

Rode Sat.

Up High: Bare, Alders, or Concrete

Down Low: Ok Pow in the trees and lower creek beds. Lots of open holes.

Low Down: 60 miles, nothing really pic worthy except Kinley (nice shots Dash)

Needs a big storm to come through.

Rode Friday; Pretty dope I thought. Blue bird and good snow (longs ways to get there). Sled died 5 times sucking fumes on the way back to the truck. Made it though!

Josh:D sorry bro; but best stuck of the day!

Sorry I missed your e-mail, replied back with my phone number, maybe next time. Maybe this go around I will have the kinks worked out of the hawk. I'm having some ruff luck this year, 3 rides and 3 breakdowns. My luck has got to change.

Blondz, you are SO funny! Nice pic!!
X-fire: I am envious you got to ride with #1 and I still really have NOT! ;)
CJ: I am sorry that I did not offer to you guys to ride with us... We had to make few stops before PVille and we already had a large group... What's your phone # anyway? I wanted to call you or I-B Broken but don't have his # either...

Had a great ride time riding with AKM7 and his crew, got stuck a few times and carved, carved, carved. Weather was spectacular and clear as a bell. Snow needs to setup and we could use some more. On the way out as I was driving a guy in a Dodge truck pulling a big enclosed forced me off the road, into a spot where someone had gone off before, luckliy he came back and helped get me out. Hopefully DOT will widden the road some as it is almost impossible to get 2 vehicles pulling trailers enough room to pass.

John, Zack and Bryan (?), thanks for letting me tag along with you guys on Friday, it was a lot of fun.

Saturday, Started in from MP120ish, and rode to West of Bunco Lake, and were not successful in getting up through the willows and alders. I did see another group try, as I hacked and cut my sled out of the bush.

As all said before, there was nice carvable stuff in the swamps.

There are deceptive, lightly covered creeks that look covered but are open, and plenty of overflow to be found, as water features are opening back up.

I ran into and fell, in the "long" arc of a deep feeder creek, down on the flatlands. The gap was just a few inches shy of the sleds overall length, so it was wedged under each bank of the creek pretty good. I and the sled were completely invisible, save for a puff of snow as I went in.

There were four of us riding together and within a few seconds, The 90 Boys showed up, doubled our numbers and pulled my sled up and out of the the tundra. They got a few wet feet, as the rest of the creek cover collapsed under us. But the sled was out in minutes, and able to be ridden away.

Thanks guys. All of you. We would've been there for a long time without your help.

Sunday, after some trailer mounted body work, and after straightening out the carbide runner, and aligning the studs, I had it rideable again. There was some good constant wind, with some healcious gusts, but at 18*F it was an ok day to stay in the trees and poach every last conceivable swamp and micro hillside in the creek systems. Ran through 3/4 tank of gas just playing in the trees and connecting all sorts of little short cuts.

Here are a few images, two riders a-carving, and a bent ski and reservoir bracket.

We successfully made the trip up through the alders, west of Bunco Lake. Did some serious bashing and questionably safe acts to do so, but there were some great pockets of snow up there. We may be the group you guys heard going up in there. A turboed Nytro, couple piped nytros and my noise making machine?

How are you liking the Camo Extreme?

We plowed a trail through the alders west of Bunco BEFORE this last snowfall...man was that UGLY :D We wanted to go over the top and connect back up with our trail, but that just wasn't happening. The last little bit was very nasty!

It's a Garmin Rino 530HCx. I can't take credit for the map though :(. My buddy I ride with pulls the data off the Rino and overlays it on Google Earth. Not exactly sure how he does that but it must not be too hard. He is on here as HatcherPassRMK, you can PM him to find out how.
