Petersville 2009/2010

As of Today....

Took a little ride before work today, took the East West Ex. from 121 to the Petersville Rd., then thru the canyon and up Peters Crk. towards the Tokositna. There is a valley back there that can hold snow when all else fails. Not this year... there is more snow at the 121 parking lot then back in the Peters Valley, the wind has taken it all. The trail system held up great and it got a inch to 5 inches of new yesterday and was snowing a bit today. The mountains are hurting. Swamps are wind blown with a little new, they could be worse, not hard as a rock like it could be. Be safe out there.

Not sure where I will go tomorrow.

Rode P-Ville today (Saturday). Very windblown and hard pack most everywhere...a few areas in the trees held some powder but you had to look for it. The trails were freshly groomed so getting from swamp to swamp was great, but the wind was blowing hard across almost all of them.

Went in at the 131 parking lot into about 40mph winds taking every last bit of good snow with it. Hard pack all the way back to the hills. We found some good pockets in the tree shielded areas and had fun tearing that up, but we definitely need some fresh snow without the wind.

Maybe that snow will "Drift" across the river to P-Ville! Gotta keep an eye on the drifting in the Current Conditions threads so we don't hurt any feelings.

Beware

was up there saturday and rode for a few hours untill i went to go help someone i didnt know get unstuck or see what happened.. and comming out of a small little valley i left my front end down and as soon as my skis dropped.. it stopped me. i snapped my spindle in half.. i ended up taking my helmet off and ridding back on a ski and a helmet. i sure was the center of attention when i pulled up at the road house for lunch.. so, becareful out there.. there are alot of hiddin obsticles under the snow

Now that's "using your head!" I wouldn't have thought of that!

hey

Hit petersville all weekend with wife and 3 yr old son, and had a great time. Gate Creek cabins are awsome, and kenny creek lodge is great also. Blue bird weather, lots of windblown, but found some great snow in pockets in trees. Put 80 miles with little guy, and he is hooked.

If anyone is riding the P-Ville area this weekend and will be up Friday, stop into Kenny Creek Lodge and say Hi. I'm celebrating my birfday.

I'll be the doofus in the red RideAK ball cap. I might be very happy. I apologize in advance if you catch me staring at your sled or trying to take your old lady for a spin

Epic Eliteness...

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone that stayed home and watched the Superbowl. It made the drive up and back much easier. And carving mile after mile of fresh without hearing or seeing another sled was nice too.:face-icon-small-hap

Good snow, good weather. But watch the beaver dams, they're booby trapped.:face-icon-small-fro
