parking "ETIQUETTE"

Yeah, I see the sign in one of my pictures, must have missed it in the snow and anticipation. Looks like I parked okay after all, maybe not quite the way some of the parking lot cops would like, but it was close. Yes, I did check on it at lunch time, and all was well, the lot was still less than 1/2 full anway. See, I didn't need a sign after all, but I appreciate that it's there anyway.:o

Maybe I went off a bit, but so much of it is common sense and showing some courtesy. Yes, if I was totally clueless, I would have gone and asked just to make sure.

There's no reason not to park another 10, 20, or 500 feet away, we all have sleds that will cover a lot of ground pretty quickly, it's not that big of a deal to me. Hell, I'll park down at the Albany corner if there was enough snow to ride on ;)

Here's a pic showing a nice park job in the driveway and another rig in the lot, looks like it's pretty close to how the sign says, correct ???

I'm done now, sorry to get bent. Have another one, on me :):beer;

now explain how the snow plows dont do a good job???

i still think that the out of state riders should be paying more to ride here... it makes no sense that the in state fee is the same as out of state! you dont see hunting fees the same price...

25.00 for permit

bearlodge or any other lodge wounld not make it in the winter if people from out of state did not come to ride. you wy guys fill the sleds in town. because gas it cheaper. you drive home after you ride. not pay to spend the night or spend money on food,beer gas ect. yes that means more people but if you do all that prep for gas food ect. and lived there. I would be like
wyoming ta. he rides all the time fresh pow. so thats means go out and find places to ride with no others around. the mountains are big when i leave the lodge i am lucky to see more than 4 people. how much do you guys pay for trail sticker in wy. if your a local.

I believe i paid 31.00 to ride in Colorado. And then 26.00 (25.00 + 1.00 for search and rescue) for Wyoming, and i'm 30 miles from my front door to ride the snowies. Then you add the 30.00 parking tag now, and it's getting expensive for anyone to enjoy the mountains any time of the year. I am all for charging more for out-of-staters, because me being an out-of stater coming into Neb. or Co. to fish or hunt, I would expect to pay more than the local, and this is no different. But I've had this argument with a couple of ppl from the FS, and never get anywhere with it, so I just finally gave up. Hopefully someone will see the light someday soon, it seems to me only common sense...dang, again back to that common sense thing.....:)

haha.. Think again MN boy.. Just because you and 5 of your buddies come out for a week or maybe 2 during the winter you think you support OUR mountain. Sorry flatlander us WYOMING riders would keep things open up on top just fine!! But thanks for your money either way.. We locals only have to deal with you guys at the lodges and when we try to eat.. As far as us buying gas down in town, Don't you flatlanders have gas cans ? haha ;)

Thats about it open! But the lodges are expanding!

That means profits! To bring gas for 6 guys for a week come on. I use two tanks a day! wot! If i lived in wy i would go to cooke. MT. Steeper and deeper then de horns. yesterday way packed up on 14a lots of locals came up for the day to blaze that fresh pow. where we you. thanx 4 the 6.95$burger you paid for do you want nappkins to wipe up your tears.
then if we ride a week for 25.00 I think locals ride more so they should pay more hows that. next year in mich. 50.00 dollars for everybody how about them apples. wy trail sticker 50.00 sounds good wyoming should raise there everthing else goes up why not trail stickers? Ride vail pass co every time you ride cost you trail sticker one time only then 2.00 everyday after?
they got my money to this year. damm rockies

I have to agree on both points somewhat, yeah it seems fair on the first look to charge non-res more such as hunting and fishing, but there's always a take limit or something attached to those permits. Like it was stated before, locals ride a lot more. I'm lucky to go 4 or 5 times a year so my cost per trip is around $6.00 or so, much higher than someone who lives in Laramie or Cheyenne for instance who can/does go many times throughout the season. I fill my diesel tank in Cheyenne on the way out, and in Laramie on the way back, always have to pay for lodging on the hill or somewhere close, buy local fuel, rent sleds, buy parts at inflated prices as to not waste the trip, parking passes, food, beverages, stuff we forgot, etc. When I was in Albany last, nearly everyone I spoke to in the lodge was from out of state, MN, NE, IA, CO. Check with Mountain Meadows or Albany Lodge, see who keeps their livelyhood afloat. Locals go home, locals don't support the mountain community like the out of staters do, note I didn't say not at all, just not as much.

You bet I'd be willing to pay $50 for a yearly trail permit, you betcha, bring it on! How about $75.00, okay still the least expensive item of my chosen hobby per year. I've p***ed away a lot more than $75.00 on lesser stuff.
Even better, lets make it per ride, that way the ones that use it more, pay more. How about a toll booth like Yellowstone, say $5.00/sled to enter. Heck at 6 times per year I'd still only spend $30.00. Make it a $10 toll and I'll still go. There, it's settled.
Us out of staters spend A LOT of money to go to your mountains and sled, another couple bucks isn't going to break us....how about you?

This is just like the sledders bi***in' about the skiers not paying trail fees, the ones that use it, need to pay. So there you go WY boy.:p

I really dont care, I like having you outta staters out here. Its always fun to meet new people and talk on the mountain. Like you said, you support our mountains more than we do ourselves.

A stupid topic to argue about, Wyoming folks dont own the mountains in Wyoming, tax payers do. No such thing as "our turf". Its EVERYONES turf, so please, bring your friends, use our fuel, spend your money in our state, you doing nothing but good to our communities :beer; I support outta staters:D

Thanks Nate, you're a stand up person. :) I'm glad everyone doesn't want us to stay out of "their" mountains. Cheers :beer;

I don't have a problem with out of staters, they just should pay more than I do for a riding permit. Do you pay Albany County taxes on a house to live here? Do you purchase Wyoming vehicle tabs to drive here? Do they support the local area 365 days a year, not just 3 or 4 weekends a year? Do we buy almost every drop of fuel we burn from a store locally 365 days a year? Those type of things should add up to some type of privileges (besides being able to use the mountain whenever we can get off work). I can't believe ANYBODY coming to the Laramie Area to snowmobile, 4 wheel, fish, boat, camp, hike, anything to do with a vacation can complain at all about anything. Give me another city the size of laramie that has 1 industry and that's it! Everything in this town is either related to taking care of out of staters when you are here for your 2 or 3 weeks of fun, summer or winter, or it's about the College, which most of us locals also support as much as possible. A cement plant for industry, that's it, and almost 30,000 people. The rest is GAS stations, hotels, restaurants, shopping stores, grocery stores, FLY stores, SPORTS shops, bars, etc..
Everything out of staters pay for on the mountain that we locals don't, such as 4.50 /gallon gas, 100.00/nite lodging, 6.50 burgers, 3.50 beers, etc.. is for YOUR convenience, not ours to support. It becomes our convenience also when we come down the mountain and are thirsty and hungry, and can enjoy a couple of laughs with everyone, and enjoy the nice mountain setting they have provided us.
Do I think 60.00 for out of state tabs and 30.00 for In-state tabs is fair? YES
Do I think 60.00 for an out of state fishing license is fair with a 30.00 in state license? YES
Just the way I feel. If you live in the state, there should be some kind of break in fees somewhere. Nothing against out of staters, I'm one every time I leave the state of Wyoming, and if I have to pay more to enjoy your state, then so be it, and I would expect it.:):beer;

Lets not overlook that the Federal government owns 50% of Wy's landmass, while only 6% is controlled by the state. Unlike other states, Wyoming does not possess an individual or corporate income tax. Mining and tourism are the main sources of revenue for the state. The tourism industry accounts for over $1 billion in revenue for the state. You should be glad us out of staters help keep your taxes low!
I pay my federal income tax just as you do, I own the land just as much as you do in some respects.
I'm not going to start a p***ing match, but you said it correct about one of the main industries is taking care of out of staters. We definately keep the economy alive, provide jobs, and keep your taxes low.

I've never complained about the fees, the costs involved, or Laramie. I love WY and the mountains and would go more if I could afford to give more of my $$ to WY. I wish you had enough industry there for me to move there. I have no problem with a $60.00 permit. Let's be realistic, the Forest Service needs the money for upkeep, trail maintenance, etc. We should all be paying $100 annually to support our hobby. I still like the idea of a toll booth per usage fee, that makes it fair for everyone, skiers alike.

No hard feelings either way I hope, there's pluses and minuses to the whole thing and it's probably more complicated than our 2 cycle fume polluted minds can figure out.
The beers on me this time :beer;:beer;

Out of staters - you can't live with them and you can't live without them

:rolleyes: fixed it for ya, good points on both sides of the argument, I like the pay as you go idea, would be just like the camping fees.

Snowies or bust on Thursday via the Bohemie Lear, watch your parking !!!!
