OPINIONS AND FACTS FROM OWNERS of MCX, Powderlites, and other Turbos on the NYTRO

I can only speak for me but i'd watch what dealer you buy thru as my experience has been a total disaster. I'm sure guys like darko will freely rag on me for not researching my purchase enough so here goes. I live 2 hours from any dealers and i'd had enough of my 583 summit getting stuck so i went to buy a new sled and decided i wanted a reliable easy maintenance sled. Voila yamaha seemed to be the leader here so i talked to local yami dealer and told them i was looking for a stock reliable machine. I tried to buy an apex but was quickly told i could buy an rx1 that was 2 years old but had a turbo ( great fun they told me )that was turn key and go and only needed one oil change per year and they hadnt got a turbo back under 20,000km with any problems as i protested that i didnt want a tricked out sled that would cause me problems. what about warranty i asked ? no warranty they said .... no thanks i said.... ok we will warranty the engine for one year because we know our product. After that it wasnt a tough sell as i knew some turbo owners whose faces you couldnt wipe the grins off of. Needless to say the sled never ran right and even paid 600.00 bucks to replace the fuel reg as that wasnt warrantied (turbo part not engine they said) The excuses flowed free and fast ( or lies as i called them) dirt in fuel, water in fuel , stored in a damp place, you need bigger blow off valves, turbos dont like running in march, sled has been left on side for extended periods of time, sled has been left pointed down steep hills for too long, sled has been left out in rain, sled need big air kit , owner abuse by ******* ......... nice. 18,000.00 and nothing but lies and denial ? would i buy a turbo again ? Not only did i get told the owner was tired of owners abusing their sleds and expecting them to repair them he called me a liar and told me the engine was hydraulicing from oil falling into the intercooler from machine being rolled when i have the tech sheet from their shop admitting the engine hydrauliced from too much fuel. Even when i pointed this out to the owner the only response he had was that he wouldnt apoligize for being wrong because in the end its owner abuse that his turbo doesnt work. Not only that but now his "best mechanic in north america " is denying building it. BTW its an mcx ..........do i think mcx is chit....no but i sure do think that dealer is. So folks pay attention to the dealer just as much as you do the brand because good dealers mean more than good turbos. P.S. I will be at yamafest march 28/29 with all receipts plus taped phone calls in case anyone wants to dispute this. Yes im taking him to court and no yamaha canada doesnt care so in the meantime i'm promoting skidoo and everyone i sell brings a smile to my face.THANKS VERNON MOTORSPORTS FOR BEING SUCH A BUNCH OF LYING AZZHOLES.

PSS. DONT TRUST VERNON MMOTORSPORTS THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER.

PSSS. I will be sitting in front of their booth on a really fun sled ( 2006 x package ski doo weraing a purple jacket )

yes i bought the sled in feb 07 and it ran ok for the first few trips but after that it was crap and everytime i called them or showed them a video of what it was doing they had another excuse. finally took it in when it hydrauliced and thats when the lies started or as they refer to it miscomunications. Only good thing to come of this so far is that i've learned to research the dealer more than the product so i dont get stuck buying from another lowlife dealer again.

Vernon Motor Sports Dig

Its quite obvious that you have had some issues with your sled and the dealer, but in the defense of Vernon Motor Sports there is 3 sides to every story. There is your story, their story and the TRUTH! Every Yamaha that I have bought from them has been top notch, service and product! And yes you do have one piece of info right, that is they do have guys there that no how to install turbos. I own a turbo Nytro and turbo Apex, and both have not caused me any grief whatsoever since the day I left the shop with them other than general ware and tare. Look forward to seeing you at Yamafest when you are sitting in amongst 1000 Yamahas on your little DOO at the booth or whatever they have going on. LMAO

so.... what you are saying is, you bought a used turbo'd sled expecting it to be reliable and expecting the dealer to cover any problems that may arise from abuse from the previous owner aswell as yours, correct?

You bought a used sled man.... did you think somebody built this thing and parked it in the garage and never abused it?

In case you are wondering, the turbo as well as fuel system upgrades are not considered part of the engine.... don't believe it, go buy a new truck and see what happens when the turbo gets sucked through the engine at 150,000K. Remember, the turbo is an add on, not a factoy "engine" component. Should you bash the dealer for not telling you that failure due to after market products was not covered..... maybe. I have learned to deal with the fact that if I did not ask the right questions at the time of purchase, then I am the one to blame. or did you believe that the dealer and the rice pickers were out to help you?

Simply put..... You bought a used sled and therefor assume some kind of responsibility and risk. I don't deal with the guys at Vernon Motor Sports, but I think it is comendable that they don't come on here and bash you as a disgruntled purchaser. Resolve this issue with them, don't try and bury them by posting on here. That's just poor, maybe they should dig up half azzed info on you and post it here to try and discredit you!!

TTT for what was shaping up to be a great thread. I know alot of guys including myself are looking at putting one of these bad boys together sometime in the future. Alot of kits out there though so its kind of hard to get out there and try every one.

Have many of you guys got to ride more than one kit? Just looking for some objective comparitive info between the kits. I really like the sound of Dave's kit.......especially with the new box. Are any of the other kits running this box? Does this one mount in the same spot as the MCX? Can you get the kit with a tunnel dump exhaust rather than a silencer? I like Mitch's kit too, but sounds like customer service might be a problem?

Does Alpine put out the best "high performance" kit? Or do they just do a good job of getting the best riders on their stuff? It just seems like they kind of dominate the hill climbs??? (BDSO, BISO, Yammafest, etc...)

i got to ride a few kits at yama fest the mcx the synergy one other custom thing . i really wanted to take an alpine kit out and compare oranges to oranges ! the kits i rode were nice kits but ill stick to my impulse for a while yet :D .

Who had a Synergy Nytro ??

Syn Nyt

What was it missing to live up to the hype ?? Curious, haven't tried it yet. Theres one kit left, might have to buy one and make it haul like his Tapex's. What tweaking is needed.

IMO if you go through the hassle of efi controllers, regulators and headers you should get more prfomance than an mcx thats just gas and go with that sled it just didnt feel that it had the snappyness or over all power that a front mount should have and really was kind of an ugly set up , great features just needed more time to put it all together and think a few more ideas through , did no one else see this sled out at yama fest? it would be nice to see what other people thought of his set up :)

Synergy's are like a Myth, you hear "they kickass over any kit", but i've yet to see one doing any kicking.;)

Had a chance to ride the impulse turbo when it was in revy, works real well. Had response that was equal to what im used to and pulled real, real hard! Paul has spent alot of time on the fuel system and it worked wicked, not a pop in it anywhere and he was at 20 lbs booooost. Awsome to see someone come up with their own design then show up and run the hills with it. Show it has power and that it works well, not talk about it on the net.

And to the guy that said he wants a power increase over what mcx makes. First of all the thing you should have noticed is the response, and dont think the front makes more power then the rear. They will make the same at the same boost, same compression. I have rode apline, impulse and mcx and the only difference is the response, and the feel of how the power comes on. Dont belive what people say about power from the dyno, see how the sleds work on the snow. Also compair apples to apples, track to track not a shorty to a long track in a drag or vise versa.

The guy who wanted to try a alpine kit out, all you had to do was ask I would have gladly let you come try my sled. Come see me at the bigdawg and take it for a rip, I just ask you keep it off the BIG hills, anything else I dont care what you do.

I'll say, it's almost been getting as bad as the "Big-Bore" claims around hear lately. All of a sudden some of these turbo kits are running 115% efficiency. LOL.

Cant go wrong with Alpine ,sleds work awsome and the guys at the shop are great to deal with. They sure helped me out last minute when I just showed up there to get some work done on my sled.

I agree. I rode the 20+ pound Impulse and the 17 pound impulse. Even between these there was a significant difference in setup. The 20+ pounder has a built motor and is set up with a bigger turbo to utilize the ability of the motor. The lag was deeper and longer, but the top end was insane powerful and I loved it there. The 17 pounder was really really quick and fluid off the bottom end. The rear suspension needed to be drawn down for the power still. I felt like I was back 20 years in my life in moto freestyle, the wheelie was controllable but constant and real quick to happen. I am setting mine up at 15lbs., race gas, stock injectors to start, until I learn it and the PROLOGGER well. What an awesome piece of equipment backed by a great guy. I made a good choice I think. Remmy Can a RX1 make 400HP at 20 PSI boost?
Yes has been done already!

Ironman: Not my dyno and take her for a spin before you pass judgement on our kit.
I am sure you can make my turbo kit look real good in some shoots too!!
