OPINIONS AND FACTS FROM OWNERS of MCX, Powderlites, and other Turbos on the NYTRO

BD apex kit

OK I know this is not a nytro, but here's what I run into with my BD setup. The intercooler had two pinhole leaks from new, Cheap-@ss hose clamps, must change the brake fluid to superduper high temp and build a heat shield for the brakes, fuel controller is a pita(was not consistant and #'s vary to much to get much help), to go to high boost setup w/bigger injectors is $$$ over different options, intake looks goofy but works ok so long as you don't sidehill in super deep snow on that side for a long time if you do it will still run but be rich, install instructions pretty crappy(being nice here), not a complete kit(but the pricing reflects that so its a wash imo. just have to pick up the other stuff), no restrictor in the turbo oil supply feed so it smoked like a bugger for awhile. Not trying to b!tch, just things I learned on the way. Reed @ BD canada has been very helpful/good to deal with got me the oil restricto in like a day!!! Absolutely love the turbo sled, unreal power for pump gas and even more with race :) Would only swap sleds for a nytro turbo(and only to get alittle lighter).

Hey everyone!! I hope everyone's riding has been as great and fun as mine this year. I have a buddy runnin a mcx kit that flat out kicks butt!! I haven't seen him have any problems so far other than a slight bog on the bottom end, which when i rode it i didn't even notice until he said something. I love the trees and boodocking so i run a MPI supercharger @ 12 lbs boost, I installed the kit myself and has been bullet proof all year. I put gas in and turn the key, only problem know is i'm never ever going back to STOCK!!!! So the bottom line for me is install is a huge factor on how your sled runs, be willing to do proper initial tuning and keep an open mind. If you need help ask on here as people on here are awsome and seem to help alot. No sled with a turbo or s/c is perfect and someone will always have a machine that runs better than yours, that's sledding and what keeps us all striving to run a machine that's better than the last sled we rode. BOOST RULES!!!!!!!!!

P.S Hey Wes we rode Hasler Wednesday march 11-08 and it was awsome, coming out sunday if your around i'll give you a call!!!

FX Nytro turbo feedback One sided!

Well my reply might get a few guys going and be just my opinion.
Been building turbo kits for awhile now and when we ventured out on our own we wanted the best kit with best value for reliablity.
Everyone told me they wanted to ride and not wrench and beat there buddies.
Well we at Powder Lites worked very hard on making the Nytro our best kit ever and it shows with features like the following.
1-Garrett ball bearing turbo with a different housing for better throttle response and then we ported the waste gate to go with our devorced port double down pipe. = Testing on Apex kit showed us that we could make 32HP more with new down pipe and intercooler.
2-Intercooler is caplible of 400HP, 350HP turbo, and no need to upgrade intercooler, down pipe, header, Blowoff valve, etc. Customers don't like to have to buy after the fact parts to run there sled.
3-Efficiency is what makes hp and drivability, NOT HIGH BOOST,
realible hp is what you get with doing it right.
4-EFI control setups has been a big tough learning curve.
One ride on our new system mapped properly and you will all be throwing the junk over the ciff.
Are we proud of our workmanship and design?? YES
Can anyone knock our products? YES but we think you will all want to take a ride first and decide for yourself.
Get the junk outta my way so I can go play! 287.4HP at 14psi boost is Efficency

Have an MCX kit has run great all year, a few hick ups but everything was sorted out very quickly and I am very happy with the kit.

That being said this was my first year with boost and I would definatley want to test ride a powderlites kit before I buy another one. They look like great kits and I like supporting a Canadian Dealer. Hopefully some where along my travels I can test ride one, in the next year or two we will see. And I like those numbers...wow.

Have fun everyone and we will see you out there.

My buddy has a mcx nytro, he has had nothing but problems with it, burning oil all the time, the diaphram seals leaking on the turbo, the kit not coming with everything it should. He had to spend alot of money to make things better on it. I have the alpine kit on my sled and was pointing out how good the alpine nytros work and i have heard good things about them. I am happy with mine. But do find a smart mechanic to install it, because he will prob have to diagnose somthing after it gets put together.

Kits are only as reliable as the installer. My BD kit runs good. After I bought a pure logic box, weights, springs for both clutches, a shockwave, o2 sensor, 2860 turbo, high temp brake fluid, and I am sure I forgot a few things. If I could get a kit with these components and had someone to give a few instructions on how to set it up I would by it. I have seen several kits fail and several run great. I know of only one MCXpress and it pulls hard. It does have a big bobble off the bottom but cleaned up it runs great. I know the person with this sled and it will run good, just needs some tuning. My point is I could make another BD kit run good just as others swear theres runs good, gas & go only works after initial tuning. Darko knows his s*it, we all can agree but will he be there to tune your kit? Get with someone who will truly help, and that you trust, and have a blast. JMHO

This was my issue with the bd kit. my sled went through the exact same as wood, my point is I would have rather laid down another 1-2 g for all the parts and done it all at the same time. But now its done I like it and would do it again. I have learned a lot.

I talked to powderlite today and I am DEFINETELY going with his kit, it has everything in it and he sounds very confident about his product. Now all I need to do is drum up the money.

I like how some guys that have never even been around a turbo make one call and that is the best kit to go with????

Install is Key on a good running kit.

Good point. Maybe we can get all of the boost builders to put on a dealer type show somewhere fairly central for them. Nothing would sell product like seat time. I bet they'd easily cover any expenses and then some. I know I'd buy.

I think Dave has his Chit together I talked with him a bit in the warming hut a revy he knows his stuff. I ride with a few guys with his kits they work well and are very fast sleds

What else ya suspose to do, buy all of them and try them!!!!!!!!! I did alot of research, thats about the only way I know how to figure the best one for me is. ANY better ideas lets hear em.

yamafest revy march 29 come test a alpine kit. not sure if powder lites will be there but if he is then you can test back to back. i want to see how a powder lites kit performs next to an alpine kit. race anyone???????:D

Powder lites turbo klit

Let me start off by telling you I'm not a turbo expert of any kind!!! I bought a Powder Lites kit and had my dealer install it. I was lucky enough that they let me watch and tighten the odd hose clamp (thanks Shad). So far so good running the Powder Lites kit (500kms). Dave has been awsome to deal with and his tech support has been great. Throttle response is instant, the power is pretty crazy. Fit and finish is top notch. I would definately purchase one of his kits again. Now I'm just waiting for the stage two upgrade to arrive. Yup its true boost is addictive!!!! Sean

You going to bring one thats a stock kit off the shelf, or the ones running pistons, rods, valve springs, stock compression, C16 and whatever other mods done to it ?

Would be nice to actually compare apples to apples. (Blain, Mike etc dont take that as a dig etc, i would honestly like to see an all out honest test with all the kit's kinda box stock, as bought. Would be intresting IMO)

PM'd ya Dave, let me know when a guy can try your kit out.

I think there all good kits and if you dont mind doing the install then there all good I have seen the Impulse kit run and it is pretty sweet I have a O'Brien customs kit and he does the install and the test ride for you so its ready to go when you pick up your sled. I think a kit with service that is close is the best so when you do have problems you dont have to wait for parts. OB customs has been awsome about taking care of problems when you have them
