OPINIONS AND FACTS FROM OWNERS of MCX, Powderlites, and other Turbos on the NYTRO

ok heres another question how long has every one had and run there kit for ? MCX , Impulse and some how MPI have had the most snow time this winter I think . i was riding boxing day with boost and ran into a few mpi and mcx sleds that week , i havent seen any others on the snow till lattly

Great thread as I've been following along all winter to get info for this summer's project. Criteria: 1)pump fuel 2)fuel control system that works as well as stock efi and 3)clean install. Bought the Nytro to build a solid, reliable & wicked ride. Turn the key....

Question, how much low end do you lose with the head shim?

Excelllent!

This is what we needed to hear. Thanks to all so far for the input. I like the impulse kit for a few reasons including good response throughout the fuel curve, but I would dearly miss the piggyback brain/fuel controller of the MCX. They put in TONS of RnD to make that happen. And on my TAPEX, it was a "no touch" situation with the MCX and I really never needed to mess with it except maybe a little fuel restriction needed over 10000'. Other than that, just a little slower response than some of the other guys I rode with. They all had Alpine.

Our riding style consists of well over 50% boondocking and the rest straight out technical climbing. I could totally care less about draggin someone down the lake. :) So a nice lineal engagement of turbo and no ***gin "hiccups" during the on again/off again throttle pulls would be tops for importance right after reliability and no tuning issues. Having more fuel is a help too. I seem to run out of whatever fuel is in my tank and whatever extra I have with me too. :o

Creative composites makes a 9.5 ot 10 gal tank that works for the MCX and Powderlites kits for under 4 hundy.

Personally, i love that theres more kits out there to choose from now. Its going to push each of those companys to build better kits with more competition. Sure seems like everyone has stepped it up for these Nytros compaired to there Apex kits. Im sure next year they will be even better after a season of "real world" testing.

PS. BigBull, how many ***gin turbo's ya need dude ? Your sig line's an impressive line up. Can i just ride one of your "extra's" lol Turbo hog;):beer;

I want to be able to run pump gas, pull and go....................or should I say turn key and go????.........................who has the biggest fuel tank?...............who is changing tracks?.....................what track and length?...............seats?

Is there a website for the impulse kit, I cant seem to find it on the web. Also how much does the impulse kit cost.

My determining factors of a turbo is I do not want to run race gas, I really dont care where it mounts. I do want the one with the least turbo lag and I would like the best throttle response. I also would like the kit to come with everything, I hate surprises when you have already spent a butt load of money.

the alpine kit comes with eveything you need all gages brackets fittings (complete) front mount no lag also 40L tank and seat included

I Know it. I have been known to pull some stupid/sick lines through the trees that have cost my sled and I down time :D So at least one extra is essential. The M1000 and the M7 Turbo are for sale in the swap meet. I will have to change sig line now, thanks a lot! ;):beer;

Boondockers come with a 9.5gl tank. Blowoff valve, fuel regulator, another injector rail, boost controller, and fuel box. The only things needed are the clutch parts and an wideband if wanted.
That is if all the parts are there.....

2500 miles on our Bd Apex, no issues.
850 miles on our Bd Nytro, only install issues.....:confused:

I had issues wit da kit for my Apex. Boost controller did not work no gauges and no info on what it realy cost and the controller sucks.

the kit set up is fine after I got it worked out sled rocks.

Until someone makes a kit that is reliable as the MCX kit is, i'll being staying put. I like riding, not wrenching, tuning or repairing. :)

I am not sure its the kit I think its you your chit seams to allways work:D

I think you should build my next sled;)

That sucks. My boost controller works great, as does the fuel controller and I new from the start what my kit costs....
You dont think its a conspiracy do you......?:p

Kits are only as reliable as the installer. My BD kit runs good. After I bought a pure logic box, weights, springs for both clutches, a shockwave, o2 sensor, 2860 turbo, high temp brake fluid, and I am sure I forgot a few things. If I could get a kit with these components and had someone to give a few instructions on how to set it up I would by it. I have seen several kits fail and several run great. I know of only one MCXpress and it pulls hard. It does have a big bobble off the bottom but cleaned up it runs great. I know the person with this sled and it will run good, just needs some tuning. My point is I could make another BD kit run good just as others swear theres runs good, gas & go only works after initial tuning. Darko knows his s*it, we all can agree but will he be there to tune your kit? Get with someone who will truly help, and that you trust, and have a blast. JMHO

my opinion on the turbo kits right now is the best all around kits are running the rapid bike 3 fuel timing controller. not the piggy back ones just dosnt make sense to me to run fuel injection & not utilize it properly not saying what other kits are doing is wrong just think this is better.of coarse the mcx kit is almost the same just more hands off & a very impressive system also. but if you want to be able to do more ajusting the rapid bike is very impressive.

Haha! Everyone needs at LEAST two turbo's !:D:beer;:D

I think Daves nytro kit is a very good set upwith good value for the money. His service is second to none and the cam timing shim thing is definitely the way to go for reliable H.P. I have 1000kms on it now and will be doind another 1000this weekend with the new rapid bike powder lites fuel controller. Dave claims that the new controller will blow me away. Cant wait

MCX kit on mine for 1000kms now....couple small hicups but not 1 minute of riding missed.....Its been rock solid reliable and very little wrenching....I'd buy it again in a heart beat.:)
