Obama - Hitler....similar? HMMM

If we hit a full blown depression, which is a possibility.
The banks are toast.
Our country doesn't have the asset capitle to borrow enough money to pay off the FDIC accounts. Had they let the existing banking system fail (which they should have done), we could have paid off all the FDIC accounts and still saved a couple trillion dollars.

I would keep at least 3 - 6 months worth of cast on hand at this point.
If the banks go bust there will be open warfare in the streets. So many people live their lives paycheck to paycheck or strictly on credit cards. If the system goes down, those people are sunk.

All of that being said.
The small banks and local banks arn't the ones in trouble.
It's the big brokers who are in trouble. The ones who played in the stock market and were heavy into hedge funds.

Couple things you can do to insulate yourself is check out your bank.
Find out how much cash reserves they have vs account payout.
That is to say, if there was a run on the bank, could they pay out the accounts they have. If you find your bank can't pay out more than say ............ 20% or the accounts they have, find another bank.

Find out if they are in the Tarp system. If yes, find another bank.
Things like that. Insulate yourself as much as possible.

Ollie Thanks this what I found

As of 2009, the U.S. Treasury has not yet released an official list of TARP recipients (though it periodically announces recipients in batches). News organizations ProPublica and the New York Times have kept lists of the recipients based on Treasury and individual institution announcements. Beneficiaries of TARP include[38]:

City Fund - Cities also asked Paulson to set up a $50 billion fund to rebuild infrastructure. The fund would consist of $25 billion in grant money for cities that are unwilling or unable to take on debt, and another $25 billion for loans to cities at an interest rate of 50 basis points above that of 30-year Treasury bonds.Reuters[40]

If I call National City do they have to tell me if they are in the TARP program?
We are worried about our 10 month CD's that mature in October.

First, this is why I like this section of the web-site, it allows people with the same interest (sledheads) to voice their opinions, and if you get your feelings hurt, grow some brains and make a better argument.

SLUT, sweet post. Historically, I agree that your parallel comparisons can be made from the reference of historical facts, however, and thank God, I am hoping that a society that has a lot of guns in households would be one that an Obamination government could not take over quickly. If the republicans don't take the house or senate over in 1.5 years, then we can be more scared.

Fortunately, the economy is not done tanking so this left wing agenda will be putting a bigger enough dent in enough households that it will be many years before dopey Americans vote their likes in again.......I pray to God that is the case.

so since I bank at a small town bank my money should be good.

Does this mean my mortgage with a big company will be worthless and I can stop paying?:D

I gotta tell about the doctor that lives next to me, Out in my shop one night having some beers & he starts telling me his thoughts on the mess we are in & many have been touched on here. First he has 9 rental propertys & last summer mortgaged each to the max, He used the money & put $25,000 in his safe & used the rest of the money to buy Prescious metals & mining stocks.

For the life of me I could not figure why someone would go so deep in debt & his thought was that the banks are only foreclosing on loans that have equity value in them & being all his propertys are leveraged out the banks will not touch him.
He tells me I need to pull my cash & CD's & invest in metals incase the doller takes a hit. I dont know what to do?

:D Rasmussen strikes again & the Dems greed will do them in :D

53% Say Next President Likely To Be A Republican
Friday, April 24, 2009 Email to a FriendAdvertisement
For the first time since Barack Obama was elected president last November, more than half of U.S. voters (53%) say it is at least somewhat likely that the next occupant of the White House will be a Republican. Thirty-one percent (31%) say it is Very Likely.

Thirty-five percent (35%) say it is not very or not at all likely, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Twelve percent (12%) aren’t sure.

This is not an expectation related to the 2012 election. It is a question about the President following Obama which could happen in either 2012 or 2016.

Naturally, there is a partisan divide--77% of Republican voters say it’s likely the next president will be from their party. Just 39% of Democrats agree.

Still, that’s an increase among both parties from previous surveys. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 47% now say a GOP president is likely, while 33% think not.

Just after Obama’s election, 50% of voters said the next president is likely to be a Republican. But since the new president took office, that number has dropped into the mid-40s.

Forty-six percent (46%) of voters now say President Obama is governing like a partisan Democrat, down four points from last month. But the new finding is still higher than those in surveys during Obama’s first few weeks as president.

Thirty-five percent (35%) believe the president is governing on a bipartisan basis, and 18% are undecided.
Support for Obama remains stable in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? Sign up now. If it's in the news, it's in our polls.) Rasmussen Reports updates also available on Twitter

Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters say politics in Washington, D.C. will be more partisan over the next year, down slightly from a month ago, while 29% say it will be more cooperative.

Most Republicans (69%) and unaffiliated Americans (57%) expect more partisanship. Democrats are evenly divided on this question.

For the first time since Obama became president, however, voters see congressional Democrats and Republicans as equally partisan. In previous surveys, Democrats who control both houses of Congress have been perceived as more partisan than the minority party.

Now, 57% say congressional Republicans are governing like partisan Republicans, while 20% say they’re acting on a bipartisan basis.

Fifty-nine percent (59%) say congressional Democrats are governing in a partisan fashion, although 19% see their performance as bipartisan.

This is perhaps not surprising following Rasmussen Reports’ surveys that delineate the differences between Mainstream America and the Political Class on issues like government bailouts and last week’s “tea party” protests. On many issues, the gap between Mainstream Americans and the Political Class is bigger than the gap between Mainstream Republicans and Mainstream Democrats.

this could hurt.....BUT look at that list and look at what Bush and the Repubs did. And I'm a conservative fella.

Numbers 1, 2 ,3,4,7,8,9,11,12,13.......just take an honest look at what they say and what we as a country have done in the last couple decades is all I'm saying.

Bush wasn't a true conservative, anybody that says he was doesn't know the definition. I agree, he put the "check" next to alot of things on this list. Both parties are full of liars and crooks and the longer we vote them in the longer we'll be in this mess. We need some real "change"......an ELECTABLE 3rd party candidate.

I agree, or a full scale takeover of the republican party, ie removal of the corrupt and replacement with true constitutional conservatives.

we need TERM LIMITS.
2 terms and your out.
Keeps the kennedy's and palosi's and the mccain's out.

Bush was about as much a conservative as McCain is.

i 100 percent agree. :beer;

Let there be no doubt that We will save ourselves!
Though I appreciate the sentiment and really enjoy the thoughts myself, and since we are already on the subject of the parallels between current situation and Nazi Germany; take a look at history. We might not have the capability to save ourselves. Not saying I won't try.

Another good quote that bears repeating is:

"Do not go gentle into that good Night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the Light."

Unfortunately it has become a big money operation with lobbyist and their ilk (cmantle?) slumming it in DC.

Imagine what our government would be like if you put all lobbyists in jail, removed all salary (except just compensation for days lost away from work), and made it a volunteer-only program where you could only serve a maximum of two years.

Glad to see that some of the sheeple are starting to wake up and realize this guy is a tool. I just hope that enough people will wake up and realize that we need to get rid of these life long politians that we have in office, and vote them out!

I think that most agree with you but sadly the educated aren't able to carry the vote. These political pigs simply have to say the right things to the uninformed masses and they get in. Let's see, tax cuts, free handouts, change, healthcare, etc. They know they just need to cheer for free handouts to get a vote. Our country has become a population of entitlement. Everyone thinks they should have everything and do nothing. Health care, a nice home, nice car, good job-that's all the responsibility of the government not the individual in the eyes of the masses. It's no longer about making yourself better and changing your situation. It's someone else's fault. Those who have chosen to work an make something, it's their fault and they should give us some. "WHERE'S MINE??" is the silent deafening scream. It's ****in sad but that's the way I see it. They WANT their government to take care of them and provide everything. It's like the generation/degradation of business. The 1st generation builds it, the 2nd sees it grow and profits from it, the 3rd bleeds it dry and sees it crumble. We have become a nation of dependents that thrive on ignorance. Keep them ignorant and you will be king forever. The politicians know and play it Eddy Van Halen on a Gibson.

So, how do we form a plan to get those out that have the game mastered?

On a side note. I wonder why they are giving out vouchers to get free boxes for the switch to HD TV? So we can all watch the Discovery channel? OR, so that they can make sure the media can maintain a steady flow of manipulated info to their subjects......

Great posts MPS. Just as you said, they take it piece by piece. It's easier to disguise than by taking it all once.
My advice. Don't give them anything.

Here's something that I think is relevant to the topic.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
Then they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me. --Martin Niemoller
