North Dakota Jobs??

HEY NOW....

LOL.....Why would you even consider working chit jobs in the oil fields if you claim you can be making $40k a month selling your hocus pocus??? Seriously, even if you get off the couch and decide to head over there the first job you get offered is going to be swabbing honey buckets for $20/hour. Then after/if they think you are worth training or think you can hack it you might find a job paying $30/hour which is still a far cry from $40k/month.

Everyone likes disagreeing with you because you are a bit of a drama queen and have this huge talk that is easy to see right through and you are easily stirred up.

i have something called an iphone. its mobile. i can log in any time i please. and i have you monkeys to respond to.

please dont call it hocus pocus, it is very real and very prosperous.

these girls are making 30-60k a month. http://www.facebook.com/#!/schneidertwins and have their mercedes benz cars and house paid for by the company. go ahead and tell them how hocus pocus it is.

if they can do it, i can do it. trust me they're not the only ones doing it. its all about drive.

im not stirred up. im very calm with my words. i type with ease, i talk with ease. i just like to respond to everything you guys say, just like you guys like to respond to everything i say. except i do it with positivity :)

North Dakota will good for me either way you look at it. nothing wrong with that, so thats that.

Nobody's trying to cut you down...& you got plenty of advice & info...But it's not what you wanted to hear. You got negative feedback because it ain't the land of Oz where you wanna work.
I can pretty much assure you that every poster in this thread was 23 at one time, & had the testosterone fueled mentality of "Ridin' into town with hooves poundin, guns blazin' & balls slappin leather". That attitude gets you places,,,sometimes good, sometimes bad.
& I know this might offend you, but you came across with the air that you've "been there, done that". Dewd, at your age, you ain't even scratched the surface.

refer to post #48 for my know it all attitude.

and this is what i gathered from this thread:

its very cold:

people are less friendly to migrants.

food may be at a higher cost. i still dont know what it compares to washington, but i shall look that up after dinner.

there may or may not be housing provided depending on the job.

what i gathered on my own:

a good number of companies provide housing.

they cant hire people fast enough.

theres big oppurtunity.

Dude why even ask for help if your not even going to heed advice? You ask for help, yet when you don't get the responses you like you just try and wiggle around the problem and think its going to be all hunky dory. If it was really that easy EVERYONE would do it.

And while your at it, people would be much more friendly if you didn't have such an attitude. No one is going to hire you if they think your an arrogant prick who has it all figured out. I just don't understand how you think you have all these great and amazing people skills when you cannot even get people on an internet forum to see you eye to eye. I'm 18 years old, yet for years I have been a contributor to this forum and for the most part people typically can appreciate my posts.

if you do a little reading, you will see that such attitude comes from others rather than me. my responses are very blunt. thats all. and my responses are in response to people giving me chit. like i said im pretty calm actually... i thanked miko for his friendly advice already.

and look in the fouled plug pure politics section in my wakey wakey thread.. MPS kinda lets you all have it in my defense.

and i do appreciate internet respect. i give internet respect always. if internet disrespect is directed towards me, the internet respect coming from me to those internet disrespecters goes absent.

try to see if that makes sense to you. lol.

So I've been hearing alot about the North Dakota job market exploding.

Im very interested in completely re-locating to North Dakota for full time employment.

The job I am currently in is in sales, income from that follows me wherever i go.

I want to expand my horizons and work in the construction industry since i have years of experience in the field, and i enjoy it.

I am used to working 10-14 hours a day, so hard work is not a problem

I have experience building baracks for the army, scrapping whole entire navy ships ( the USS Mississippi, and the USS North Carolina. Both bought as a whole, and scrapped out by my family's scrap business, Lee's Re-use Inc. )

I also have experience on heavy equipment, boom lifts, and skidsteers, and forklifts.

I am Hilti certified and have operated various power tools, including plasma cutters.

I understand North Dakota cant hire enough people fast enough.

Does anybody know of anyone anywhere in north dakota that is hiring for the oil companies, fraking, general labor, heavy equipment operating, etc?

or know of a contact number i can call?

I have many reputable references upon request, and obviously a well rounded resume. this is not a resume, i am just looking for advice as far as who to go to, or who i can contact.

If i do not know how to do something, i have the ability to learn fast, and do it efficiently.

thank you in advance for any input.

Andrew.

Here is the best thing you can do if you want to go to work in the patch in a boom town and have zero applicable experience whatsoever.

Hire on with one of the big service companies. This means Halliburton, Schlumberger, BJ, Baker, whoever. You will start out as the worm on whatever crew you're on. You stand the best shot at getting hired on immediately on a frac crew most likely, possibly cement. Again, if you have ZERO experience, I would highly recommend looking at a company like Big Red or Big Blue. You're going to start out with ****ty pay working 100+ hour weeks, but if you flat out bust your *** and don't bitch they'll move you up. Then you'll be making slightly less ****ty pay and still working 100+ hour weeks living in motel rooms. Keep in mind, you'll be working so many hours you'll probably at least still pull $70k your first year, if not closer to $90k. Depends on you. You can make supervisor in a year or two if you bust your ***, but you need to understand, its almost like joining the army.

You might also consider relocating to somewhere like Rock Springs or Casper WY and going through one of the oil field vocational certification programs they have. It'd take you 6 months to get through it but you would almost assuredly be a shoe-in for most jobs like I speak above and be started out at a higher pay rate than those guys who are just 'looking for something' or whatever. Also, get the written portion of your CDL done before you apply to anyone ...... please note, I'm trying to set you up here to actually go for a career at one of the bigger companies, not just get a job with a fly by night operation. If you're just starting out, I would definatley say its better to start with a big company and get trained the right way to do **** than with a smaller one that also has no benefits.

Whatever you do, be ready to work work work work work work.

Two thanks for the most helpful and the most respectful post on this thread.

Not really. Your attitude comes from you and EVERYONE can see it. Why don't you ignore the haters if they hassle you so much, then you wouldn't look like such a jerk to everyone else. And I just went to that thread MPS didn't really do anything but spew a bunch of crap about how the government wants to kill us all-Oh and he liked the video you posted and said it was the truth(which it could be i never watched it).

TBH I don't give a crap about your internet respect babble. The fact of the matter is you seem incapable of having a discussion without having people see you as a jerk/idiot/cocky person. Of course its the internet who cares what people think, but at the same time being part of a community even if it is on the internet typically means at some point or other you should be able to integrate and become a part of it instead of being shunned and disapproved of. I call it as I see it and there is no way to deny the fact your probably the cockiest person I've ever seen on this forum and that is more likely than not why a majority of people here disapprove of you and your posts.

You can do as you please, but people aren't going to respect you if you don't come down to earth a little, take advice without being obnoxious, and maybe if your really going to come down off your high horse use the two words "your right"

Unfortunately for us in ND guys with arrogant attitudes like yours are becoming a dime a dozen in ND. Go on thinking that you know everything and being a little worm veterans in the patch don't take kindly to guys with attitudes like you.

You're very similar to the oil guys that tried to show a bunch of us farm guys that they had money the other night in the bar by bragging about how much money they had and that they could afford to buy everyone in the bar a round. Those guys found out the hard way that they weren't as rich or as intelligent as they thought when they were writing the check for their tab.

the person that made that post was hired by your family to try and get ya out of state..lol..just joshing...yea it was great advice...so now the rest is all up to you and i really do have the belief you have all the skills and assets to succeed.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................:bolt:

NOT....

never said i was rich, never said i knew it all.

dont take too kindly? does confidence intimidate you? it intimidates alot of people actually.

and a new guy is pretty frickin stupid for offering to buy everyone in the bar a round in the first place. so no, im not similar. not in the least.

if you read from the beginning you will see that im calm. you will see that the "attitude" comes from others trying to tell me how i wont make it, and how terrible it is. FAWK that! my "attitude" has gotten me out of really bad situations, and has put me in really good situations. so im not worried about what a few cocky internet people have to say about my attitude.

if you read from the beginning, you will see that i have said many times that i dont know it all. cocky isnt the right word to use, but confident is a better word to use.

i have only been confident about the stuff that i HAVE DONE. if i go through with this decision, the only way to make things happen, is go in with the attitude that i WANT a job, and let them know what i HAVE done, and be confident about it. thats what you do with ANY job, and you cant deny that. and exactly. its the internet. if you guys are more focused in picking everything apart, and if you guys cant see my confidence, and my ambition, and act as if its a bad thing, obviously you guys are the type of people i dont need to deal with when im there. should i be like a cute little kitten instead? i dont think so.

and on the wakey wakey thread, MPS never said the government wants to kill us all. when you havent even watched the video, ( its of multiple news stories covering the new bill that just passed that DESTROYS the most important rights that us americans have ), it discredits all the talk you just talked that make it seem that MPS is a looney. he's ex-law enforcement, and is in the military. he definitely knows whats going on more than you. so hold off on the looney labeling.

now before you respond with more smart talk, take the time and read over what i just wrote a few times. and take the time to read this thread from the very beginning. its a good read, i promise you. it will be entertaining for you as well.

First off I wouldn't even head out without a well insulated camper on the back of my pickup. I don't care how much a badazz you might be, sleeping in your car won't last long.
What do you do when all your clothes are soaken wet and covered in mud, but it's -20 out? Run down to the laundry mat and wait in line until 2am to dry them out/wash them and go back to work at 04:30 before your Carhartts are dry?
Second, getting an address isn't as easy as you think, especially in an area with as many transients as there are up there (assuming).
I had a he!! of a time getting a PO box in CO before I closed on my house there, as in they wouldn't give me one. And I was in a much different situation. Owned 2 homes in 2 other states, moved there for work with an establised company that I had tenure with.
Post office wouldn't give me a PO box though until I had a utility bill, rent recepit, something in my name locally.
(All I wanted was my d@mn CO snowmobile registration sticker before winter ran out!)

minot weather report... cold today... colder tomorrow.... high of -5 degrees Fahrenheit on wednesday.

I work for Midcontinent (regional cable company) up here and get shipped all over the Dakotas by them to where ever its busy. I've been in Minot for 6 months now. my 2 bed 2 bath twin home is 2600 a month. its ok but nothing special. I got this because the company was tired of paying 3600 a month for the crappiest hotel room in Minot. Oh and that was the best corporate rate in town. Its a **** show up here and the flood made everything that much worse.

Don't take lightly what people are saying. Its probably as hard to make it here right now as anywhere in the U.S. Don't let the high wages fool you. The streets are not paved with gold here. Hell they aren't really paved with anything. :face-icon-small-hap
