North Dakota Jobs??

It's tough work no doubt. I worked the Basin as a kid in 80-82 before the shut the lights off on that boom. Roughnecking and Roustabouting, covered a lot of shifts. I was young and dumb but I made some cash. That being my only work experience (besides Ranch work), when I went to work in AZ. I thought everyone was lazy. Only to find out that 8 hours is the standard shift in the real world. LOL

im also going to take my brother and his daughter and and wife. his boss keeps dickin him on pay and hes got a family to raise so im gonna help him get his ducks in a row as well.

hmmm...them in your care eh....willikers don;t they have at least a minimal standard of existance they want to achieve??..

get there ducks in a row from the biggest quack is risky...

SMR you better get over here before it decides to actually get cold this
-14 is a great working temp I hope to see some of those -60s like last year for a couple weeks

Most of the locals are too! It helps sort the trash if you know what I mean.

i have my own part of the travel company. i make my own hours, i choose the amount of time that i work. i can make sales on my computer, or i can make sales out beatin the pavement knocking on doors. i can make sales while im at the gym, i can make sales while im out at the bar.

by expanding my horizons, i will come across more opportunities for advancement with the trades, and i will be able to expand my business network from a couple hundred to 10's of thousands. thats what it takes to be making $40k a month. i do what it takes.

the only way to get chit done is to do what it takes.

and perhaps, fellow snowesters should take the energy they're taking to slow down my motivation, and be negative in response to everything i mention, turn it into something positive, then we can all be happy, because i wont have to respond in such the ways i respond. :)

You know where you cant make sales??? Arguing with people on Snowest. If you took all the time you wasted on here posting stuff no one here cares about you'd be in the 30K range with the rest of your buddies and not worried about attempting to go to ND to the Rigs.

im gonna put in a request with my travel company to start a WV fundraiser to build shelters for the people in North Dakota to stay warm and dry. my friend paul and a buddy of his are sleeping over there in a tent right now and i know its more than just then that are sleeping in tents and cars. we did it fir orpahanages in mexico and south america, surely we can do it for the american people who are trying to survive.

No way this is true... I was well below zero up there the other night, if they are in a tent over night in Jan they'd be going home the next day, provided they were still alive.

i make my sales.

i go on snowest.

im not trying to make sales on snowest.

i seek info on certain subjects.

i put things in front of people who might want to take something and run with it.

in ND, i will still be making sales.

in ND, i will also be doing labor.

im not trying to make sales on here.

but on a forum it doesnt matter to me, because most of us dont know eachother, and people like to talk chit online because it makes them feel better about themselves, and no one can deny that fact.

dont see the point in arguing, and coming up with new chit to argue about on a thread where i seek info on ND jobs.

and if they truly didnt care, they wouldnt spend just as much time as me, responding to my threads.

common sense...

lets see how you respond to that one....

are you gonna get angry now?

are you gonna continue in a never ending arguement?

hey look everybody, im starting arguements just like you guys!!!

wanna fight?

huh?

aye?

wow i feel cool. :)

maybe my friends will think im cooler now because of it?

i sure hope so... :)

Well that was a hell of a read. Thanks to all those who posted meaningful information, I know a lot more about the conditions than I did half an hour ago.

So, I'm 20.
A little experience in a construction shop, a little experience running machinery.
If I were to get on with Haliburton or another big name company, can you tell me exactly what I'd be doing for those 16 hour days? I know it could be a lot of different things but humor me.

Not to hijack, it does seem pretty related...

What I posted to you was matter of fact. Your a typical BSer salesman, its not hard to figure out your type. I really dont care what you do either way, although I dont think you will actually go, your just blowing smoke. I find it Ironic you come to ask advice from people that do nothing but bust your balls all day long. I think you get off on the attention to be honest.

As for the rigs, my brother is a driller on one of the rigs out there, he lives in Belfield, ND. My other brother worked most of the summer as a roughneck on the same rig... I know several other people that work out there too on various rigs.... The work isn't a joke, they've seen people loose fingers and toes. Earlier this summer a rig my oldest brother worked close too had a natural gas explosion and killed some of the people working on it.

I was born and raised in Central ND and lived there for 25 years before moving south 3 years ago. The weathers not a joke, it can be overstated how dangerous the winds and cold are in the winter. People die in that too, and not people that live there or were born and raised there. People that come in and think their tough or dont take the weather seriously usually dont make it long. You will see, North Dakota winters proves how tough people really are in short order, you cant BS your way through that.

Definitely not, if I had read all of your bs I would've logged out and taken some aspirin.

X2F, what exactly does a driller on a drill rig do? Is that just punching new holes for the pump jacks to go in?

The driller is the guy that operates all the controls on the rig floor (winches, motors) he is also the leader over the roughnecks. The roughnecks do all the pipe connecting, stacking and other stuff like that.

To try and answer your question from earlier, about working for Haliburton or other big companies. Haliburton is a service company they don't drill the holes, where I'm from they mostly do fracking but do some other things too. If you went and worked for them you would be doing pretty much hard manual labor. Moving pipe around, banging hammer unions, cleaning, getting dirty, nothing very fun or easy.

There are a ton of other companies that do a million other things, I would try to describe them but it would take forever. The best way to learn about the oil field is to go work in it.

lol you dont know my type. and my salesman type? BSer salesman? Not even close. im defintely the truthful type. why bullchit people? thats when people get caught up.

as far as the work, it may be tough, it may be something ive never done before. thats why i learn. the weather? ill have to dress accordingly.

preparedness? well its just a smart thing to do to save 4 grand so i get a place to call home at least temporarily. then my brother and his family and my buddy can come stay if needed.

ive done dangerous work before, i know how to be cautious. to reduce the risk of injury you just have to be cautious and work smart.

i dont care about the people that bust my balls all day long, because the real reason they do so is because theythought they knew about something long ago and immediately came in with insults and assumptions trying to be cool online and i shut them down. some just people dont like that. especially when theyre older.

Its been an ongoing battle ever since. they always try so hard to prove me wrong. why? noone on here knows me or where i come from, or what ive done , so what anyone on here has to say about me has no merit. Which is why i keep going, and going, and going, and going.

whats the point in continuing to engage in conversation with me when yall all just know im NOT gonna shut my mouth?

im not one to play dead for anyone.

I am about half way for you SMR and you can have a room if you dont want to sleep in a car and you can see how awesome this part of the world is before you go all the way to the ND.

X2F, what exactly does a driller on a drill rig do? Is that just punching new holes for the pump jacks to go in?

The majority of a drillers responsibility is basically operating the drilling rig from driller's console doing the drilling itself. Your looking at monitors and gauges and taking measurements of how your running as you drill and making adjustments to ensure that your drilling steady and consistent without binding or creating too much heat. So more or less its touch and go brake, and throttle operations based on the readouts you get for different levels in the ground so your punching through, but not breaking anything as you go.Your also responsible for the hoisting of the pipe out of the hole as well.

Structure of the rig's vary but on the one my brother is on hes basically like the rig lead or supervisor reporting to the tool pusher, he more or less runs the show most of the time on the rig hes on. This includes all of the safety stuff that needs to be followed and all the new hire training. Along with keeping every one on task.

I deleted the part of the your post that had no relevance to what was being talked about just so your clear. I dont care that you don't care that people don't like you. You do what you need to do in regards to that.

Anyway, your a prototypical salesman (not that all are bad, I know some great ones) but you simply belive that if you say the same thing 50 different ways for a long enough time eventually you will get people to do what you want, or think what you want. Sorry dude I don't operate that way, neither do most of the people here that bust your balls all the time.

As for the work its absolutely tough, the toughest thing you will most likely ever do, the shifts are long, the work is back breaking, dangerous, dirty and fast paced.

You can be as safe as you want, but you can never always account for the people around you and thats how most of the people get hurt, but someone else on the rig not themselves.

As for being prepared, having that money is good or whatever but you fail to understand you could have 40 Grand saved... THERE IS NOWHERE TO LIVE... Everything is spoken for or full, housing cant be built fast enough, supply of goods and services cannot keep up with the demand out here at this current time.

Go do whatever you want, honestly it makes no difference in the world to me what you do, however I really think you have no idea what your getting yourself into or what its really going to be like.

On the off chance you do actually go and by some miracle get hired, and you meet a Driller when your out there that rides your A. and makes fun of you every single day of your life for being greener than goose crap you'll know your on my brothers rig. I'll leave which one it is out there as a surprise. But i will be sure to let him know about the possibility of your arrival. I dont think he will have any trouble figuring out who you are.
