Need suggestions My buddy is pissed at me

Well it started a couple months ago I was approached by my buddy's wife she asked if i would help find him a sled for Xmas. I asked a few questions and what we could spend and the search was on. I found a little summit 670 for less than she wanted to spend so had plenty of funds to put it back into extra clean shape. Idsledhead and my self went over it, everything cosmetic and mechanical that needed fixed got fixed.
Well things went according to plan I delivered it and he was surprised as hell, there was enough snow he spend a few days riding it around home and loved it. Then we made our first trip to the mountains. By the way this is his first sled. he did pretty good it wasn't a deep powder day but a foot of fresh, but i could see him getting frustrated because he couldn't carve or some hills he couldn't make it up.
we talked about rider ability and how it would come with practice. He asked about putting longer track on. Its only a 136 2 inch lug. I said yea its an option but learn to ride it first. I told him he needed bar risers so he could get up off the seat.
So he comes home tells his wife to get on the net and get a pipe bar risers and a 151 track for it. she explains that there funding just isn't there and those things are going to have to wait. one thing leads to another and he ends up telling her that's its embarrassing to ride it its the quietest shortest sled in our group. He tells her to call me and have me pick it up and sell the $#@%$# thing.
So what do I do? I offerd to buy some bar risers to help because that's all i think he needs to get comfortable on it and i feel responsible cause i picked it out. If he wants to sell it should i just take care of it or tell him its his sled you do it. Ive tried calling him the last two days and he wont return my calls:(
sorry for the long post just wanted some ideas.

What an a hole! Sounds like he has a good wife and a good friend and he wants to act like a little kid. I'd kick his *** and then show his wife how a real man rides.

Jeez, wish i had more friends like you. Not your fault. Let him sell it himself. If it was one of my friends, i would tell him to kiss my ***. Just an opinion. Have a nice day.:):)

Sounds like a ungrateful idiot to me.Get a can on that thing tell him it got 170 hp now and if it dont go it just the rider and forget about him.

Your buddy sounds like a baby. His poor wife does something nice for him and he spits on it. Sounds like he's got a nice/smart woman that deserves to ride a sled as-well. Tell him to keep the sled for her, and go buy a brand new one off the showroom floor. Let him feel like he's got the biggest/best pony on the mountain, take him up riding right after a huge dump, and when he buries it 30' from his trailer leave him there for the day to dig it out.

Same thing all the others said. He's a freakin pansy! Tell him to stay home....better yet, let him read this thread.

Wow, I applaud what you have done. I rebuilt by buddies M7 after he buckled the tunnel and bulkhead. I wasn't home when he came to pick it up but my wife was. He had the nuts to complain that he had to move something to get it out of my garage where it has been for the last 5 months. By the way, I didn't charge him a thing to do it. Just wanted to get him back on the hill. The more you do to help, the less they appreciate it. Feel good about what you did and I hope he comes around.

to your buddy "suck it up princess!!"

nobody has ever given me a sled! he sounds like a spoiled little kid!!

My suggestion is you put a riser on it and then offer to take him out and you ride it to show him how much that “riser” made the difference. That way when he sees what you did with the machine and he can’t match it, it may sink into his head that he needs to work on his skills before he goes and blames his generous wife and good friend for giving him a “crap” sled. If that doesn’t work, have his wife kick him in the sack and tell him to grow up. Just my $.02.

Exactly what is wrong with the society we live in. Never happy with what you get and always an excuse why something is not good enough. Did he even thank you for the time and effort you put into the sled?

Did anybody jump on the sled and show him how it is supposed to be rode...most likely the same thing needs to be done with his wife !

I did spend a lot of time trying to explain the basics and showed him the sled will do just fine that it takes practice. I traded him even for a while. He was really appreciative and said thanks many times until we got back from the mountain. that's when things went south :(
The sled runs fantastic starts first pull. His wife has never done anything like this I lost a lot of sleep last night over it. I know its not the latest greatest but look at it its nothing to be embarrassed about

Wow... Enough good comments already given. My bud just bought my '00 RMK 700, bone stock, 136x2 track. He hasn't ridden (backcountry) for years so we went out Saturday. Most grateful guy I have ever seen ride a sled. Didn't care that he couldn't carve good, or wheelie over every little bump. He was just stoked that he had a sled again and could get out and do something he loved. I've stored it and got it ready and everything else for him since he bought it. Now he's begging me to come over to the shop so I can teach him how to take care of things. Good luck on your buddy AJ, take him to the shop and tell him to grow a pair or call when he's ready to man up ;)

Have you considered giving him a coupon to the local brothel ? That might straighten out his riser bar.

Fine sled by the way, and maybe before he buys a longer track you might suggest that he buy a beacon.
