My running-board foot-loop injury: Who else has had their foot stuck in the footwell?

Have you had problems with your boots getting trapped in your Polaris ProRide or AXYS

I used to say the same thing. I wear the same size boots and can tell you are setting yourself up for disaster. Once you have ruptured a patella tendon and ACL and you freak out and go into shock from being stuck next to your sled and can't move at all, seeing your lower leg pointing in an unknown, unnatural attitude, pain like you could never imagine, having your buddies have to get you out of the backcountry, your buds and wife or significant other have to go through hours and hours of getting you to the hospital, logistics with rigs, not to mention take care of you while you are healing during one of the best snow seasons on record, then maybe I hope you will see the cons outweigh the pros.

Yeah I think sooner or later the tight toe hold will catch up with you! I know 1000's of people are riding them with no issues however, I've been riding the Pro for 4 years and never did get my boot hung up what so ever until the 1st time this March!
Just the right situation I guess but it did finally happen and the result was broken bones!

The foot-loops, IMO, are still too tight.

Nonetheless... this can part of a solution.... as this WILL keep your heel from falling into the cutout hole... which is also a contributing factor.

The new Summit G4 running boards have ribs similar in concept to Kurts idea.

Eric,
The ribs below the running board on the G4, from the info I have received(from a BRP Mtn. Committee member)
It's designed for the sole purpose of cutting into the snow during a sidehill to keep it from washing out.

Got hung up on my 11 PRO 3 times this winter (had to wait for help to get loose two times) and last one on last Sunday ride but swelling went down and was able to ride day before yesterday, I guess I have been luckier than others here and I don't want any Screws and Pins so, I will fix this problem before next season with either the Everett Ankle Saver or BM or maybe even a new AXYS PRO RMK 800.

Ran the bars from Kurts- and believe it or not they do work for ankle saving- but the down side is they hold ton's ( well More snow) something we do not like on the Axys boards.. Mine rods are gone and waiting on Brian @ B&M Fab's

Earlier in the year, someone was going to build a "kit" for moving the stock foot loop bar up an inch or two. What ever became of that?

Seems like the logical way to solve the problem as opposed to putting the Everett ankle savers on. . .IMO

That's was us. Ran into problems with making it simple enough for most people. The pro ride chassis was much friendlier in this department.

It will come down to 2 things

1 - if you absolutely don't want to drill a hole then it's going to get a little pricey on machined parts and it will lose its structural design.

( it is slightly dependant on these, the tubes are thin and need all the boxing/ triangulation they can get. Cut them off and have a bigger guy jump around on them and watch them move a little....leading to fatigue and cracking over time.)

2- if you could care less about drilling some holes it will be easier.

We get opinions both ways on these. I've talked with Sage Crusher and he would have no problems drilling holes cause it's just a hole. Have other locals that I know personally that have major issues putting a hole or 2 in the tunnel.

Find someone that can weld aluminum, cut off toe holds, reweld at a higher point. It's pretty simple.

What I've found to be the honest truth is that most people that can Weld anything at all can not Weld aluminum....where as guys like you and I who work with wonder metal every day don't think twice about it. Welding aluminum (with TIG capabilities as well) is like a mythical science that most don't understand. I personally love aluminum and working with steel make me appreciate that even more.

Ouch! There is a nice hole in the wall next to ours from a mitre cut that got away like that. Let's see your hand!

SMF,

Hope you heal quickly. After 30 plus years doing metal fabrication as a career. I have more scar tissue than skin on my hands (might be a slight exaggeration) between cuts, grinder bite abrasions, burns, etc.

P.S. IMO and OSHA as well, Gloves should not be worn while operating any rotating equipment.
