Bumper extension

Today I worked on installing the new VE bumper extension. What the heck does Polaris make their tunnel Rivets out of, they have to be the hardest rivets I have ever had to remove. They dulled the drill bits when I tried to drill them. I finally had to break out the grinder and grind half of them to get them out. I finally managed to get the bumper mostly installed after a little bit of cutting per BiggDawgs instructions. Right now I think I need a drink.:face-icon-small-ton

aww it isn't that bad just the part about hacking up a $180 part :boink:

That was easy, I had photos to show how to do it....lol.
I cut it a little more than you did so it sets forward just a tad more and covers most of the hole from the stock rivet on the side.

I just flipped it upside down on the sled and marked where the edge of the cooler was and then took a straight edge and drew a line straight out from the center section.

The hard part was getting those darn rivets out that hold the bracket for the running board cooler. I swear it took me over an hour to get those suckers out of there.:face-icon-small-dis
 
I almost have the bumper done. I'm going to have to drill out four more of those pain in the Ars Polaris rivets so I decided it was break time.

Got a little done today. I ordered about $200 worth of parts, I almost have enough stuff to finish it now. Then I spent two hours trying to get the Fuel tank off because the clip was damaged.

I also installed Polzinhunter's Rider Select Delete. This is way more work on the 05 than I realized. To install it you need to Remove the console, the fuel tank, the oil bottle and the bracket with the exhaust valve solenoid and coils on it to get to the bolts. Once it is in it sure is nice, no play in the bars at all now.

Why did you have to touch the oil bottle? I didn't have to touch it when I put mine in:confused:

Not sure how you did that because the front bolt that held in the rider select sits right on top of the oil bottle screwed in from underneath. I had to unbolt it and move it aside to be able to get a Torx on it

Guess I just don't recall doing that.... oh well, lol.


At least you got it on there. Hardest part on mine was getting the fuel lines unhooked from the tank, very very tight getting the tool in there and engaged properly. My friend's 06 lines were easy to take off for comparison lol.
 
My tool for the fuel lines went right in no problem, but I think the last person who took them off at Polaris screwed up the metal piece that holds it in place on the inside hose. I didn't know if I was ever going to get that thing off. I finally took an allen wrench and unscrewed the clamp holding the hose to the engine so I could slide the tank back a little more. Then I was able to force the next size bigger tool into the hose because it is slightly thicker and get it to release.

Sled is sick Z-man, How did the avid drivers go in, pretty tech or easy?

It wasn't to bad. Robbie at Avid pressed them on for me. I thought it would be a lot harder but I managed to pull the track and reinstall it myself. I did run into one issue, because the 7 tooth 2.86 drivers are smaller I didn't have any clearance over the front arm. I took a few measurements and determined that I could put 7 inch carrier wheels on the back arm and the clearance it perfect now.

One more thing, I almost forgot. You need to cut the front of your rails back and install an anti-stab wheel kit so that the rail tips don't hit the Avid drivers. Robbie has the Anti-stab kits for less than anyone else so if you are getting the drivers from him just ask him for an anti-stab kit too.

Still waiting on more parts and I guess I am going to have to wait till I can get some pistons too. So, I decided to see what else I could destroy, I mean fix.:face-icon-small-ton
