thinking about riding out of deer mt. this weekend. how is the snow depth down there compared to diamond

Diamond's got to have more... Rode Medicine on Sat and only 6ft at the snow marker.
I haven't ridden Deer Mtn. since xmas but it has to have good coverage. The problem with Deer Mtn. is it gets a lot of use and areas get tracked up very quickly. We haven't gotten any new snow since last week, so it may be difficult to find untracked areas.

went up to castle lake and then up to the old ski bowl today, they have the lower gates closed, but the roads and melted down to bare pavement!!! is this just some sick way of keeping us out?

Keep you out of what?, You have a sled and its go anywhere time right now! It doesn't get any better.
very true, but we we're all doubled up on the sleds, we wanted to get up to castle to do some snowboarding

Good stuff. Now you've experienced why I rarely go to Deer Mtn. Pm me with directions you went and I'll give you an idea of the areas you were in. The one jumping pic is the Fawn Creek area.
We need more snow. Lots of tracks but still hit areas that have not been ridden since last storm.
My computer is down, so I will post pics later this week. Silvertip will recognize them.

to 4 PM PST Sunday.
A storm moving into northern California this afternoon will bring
heavy snow and gusty winds to south central... north central and
southeast Siskiyou County. The snow level will be around 3500
feet. 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected tonight... and another 5
to 10 inches will fall in snow showers Sunday. The snow will
diminish Sunday evening.
In addition to the snow... south winds of 10 to 25 mph gusting to
35 to 45 mph will develop this evening and continue through
Sunday morning.
The combination of heavy snow and winds could pose travel hazards
for Interstate 5 near Mount Shasta... Highway 89 between Mount
Shasta and the Shasta County line... and Highway 97 from Weed to
Macdoel.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Kale's not going to be happy but we tracked up his place twice this week. Both days I got to see what I call "professional" riders. Day one with the Rev's of the Rouge Valley and day two with a few fellow Kfalls boys. Got to see AS and SuperDave3 pull a nasty chute and 2dabar save his sled from a complete total. AS pulled the chute on a stock D8. He made it look easy but this hill was vertical. Trust me. Enjoy!
