Here's the most recent of our testing after two days of great riding!
My sled, stock primary spring, 8Bu's loaded right up (might have to washer it yet), stock secondary, 162' track, 19 top gear, rpms staying pretty much in the 8700-8800 with the odd 9000 showing up. Rod turned out 7.5 turns and boost is pretty much where it should be as per the charts.
Bruces sled, blu/whi/blu primary with 8BU's loaded right up, stock secondary, stock 153" track, 20 top gear, rpms staying 8600-8800 and boost seems right on. Can't tell where his rod is because the threads have been "ground" down from the factory for some reason so can't turn the rod all the way in?
Couple things to watch for: (1) that hose that vents to the atmosphere drips gooy oozzy white crap that makes a mess of everything! Just moisture with an oily residue but, messy. I attached a bottle to the hose, put a couple holes in the bottle and budda bing, no more mess. I also question having this hose where it is because it will no doubt suck up clutch dust from the interior.
(2) the waste gate valve body rubs on the heat shield (at least mine does) to the point where its almost worn a hole right through. That means tension on that valve so I buzzed a slot for it to sit in so theres no weight on it. (3) those steel braided lines are torture on aluminum stuff! Even though I dressed mine up with rubber hosing in spots where it touched stuff, I missed a small area and it rubbed clean a spot on the valve cover! (4) best for last, almost had a cataclismic disaster! One of the bolts holding the exhaust manifold came out (yes, I torqued them to spec!) and that allowed exhaust to exit out under the heat cover that sits over the pipes. However, enough heat still got out to cook the valve cover gasket (no damage to cover) which caused it to leak, which I spotted while doing my usual inspection after each ride. It also partially cooked the 2 wire lead that goes to the turbo compensator valve! This wiring harness, from the factory, is not long enough to route anywhere other than directly to the valve,so, I will rewire it with more length and run it outside the turbo heat shield and along side the tunnel.
Thats about it, both sleds ran great, Bruce will have to have that smile on his face surgecally removed now! The biggest problem we have with both sleds is keeping those 2 stroke guys off them! Thanks for the help Sly........Sherm
