I'm really not a fan of either team. But MHs behavior is not out of the norm between these two schools. I've seen it played out the other way. This is just history repeating itself. over and over.

Facts mc800. A big difference between a stupid comment and, not once, but twice, to go on a tirade. On the field you may excuse it as a stupid comment "caught up in the moment", but to have this venom continue in the news conference is inexcusable. So, please post facts about "I've seen it played out the other way. This is just history repeating itself. over and over." Back this statement up with facts, quotes, references, etc. I don't think that you can find a comparable situation on either side. but willing to be proven wrong. Not hearsay, verifiable facts. Bottom line, this was way over the line and a very, very poor example of sportsmanship. Max Hall has demonstrated his emotional immaturity time after time, which is a big reason that he struggles under pressure and/or in big games. Let me tell you what one of his "close associates" said, privately, who happens to be a good friend of mine. "His actions are inexcusable and I am embarrassed for him and for the shadow cast upon our program".

Obviously...I CARE, because I started the damned thread! As I've said already in other posts, this is NOT about the Utah loss to me! Frankly, I think BYU has the better team this year. But, I do care about Hall's venue to vent his frustration. I can care less if he likes me, the UofU or anyone else. However, probably better to keep his feelings amongst his friends and family and off the air. This is a sportmanship and example issue to me! Quads...Welcome to the Utah section and I hope you hang with us, if you want. But, don't punch me in the mouth and expect me to be happy with it!

edit: let this suffice as my response to your pm!

Easy there sunridge, my comments weren't directed at you personally. I was making a broad statement to the collective forum. sheesh. If Utah had won and their QB had said something similar, the BYU fans would be saying the same things as you are. Like was stated, this is all just history repeating itself. Don't let it get the best of ya. Max Hall wasn't put in as the starting QB because he was the best example on the team, its because he had the best numbers amongst the QB's. He's just a football player....don't put him on a higher pedestal than needs be.

I'm not trying to excuse his actions at all. The guy was wrong OK. I'm just saying it's gone both ways. My memories not good enough to quote but I remember. Maybe not identical situation but close enough.

Dude....just realize this....most of us here are friends, good friends! Some of us are best friends and talk to or see each other often. It is not that you are not welcome. It is just that this is not the open forum to us. In fact, we all used to hang out on a private topic and it was just us! So, it is still hard for us to get used to having everyone and anyone hanging out here. Just a little history to help you understand us a little better....

BTW.....Hall reprimanded by the Mountain West Conference today. And, I guess some dudes were trying to take pics of Whittingham's family upset and crying after the game. A scuffle between other family members and the dudes taking the pics ensued.

Duly noted!

Wow we really need snow here in Utah don’t we. :D
I was never going to say anything about this but I am fed up. Not that I am defending what he said, just fed up with how immature all of you are being about what someone said. I mean really get over it.

I can’t believe how much people on here really give a crap what he said. So what if he said it. It is your job as a parent to discuss what is on TV with your kids and teach them between right and wrong. Who cares if he said something wrong? Tell your kids he was wrong in saying what he said and teach them to not do what he did. Sounds to me like too many are relying on the media to teach your kids what is right and wrong. Just have to ask how many of your kids watch youtube, get on facebook and look up any other stupid crap on the internet that you would not think is appropriate?

If you really took offense to this statement then maybe you need to look at yourself and see why his comments hurt you so bad. Not to get religious on everyone here but I do want to say one thing about it. I can't exactly remember who said it and which conference it was but I do remember that they said if you are offended by someone for something that they said to you, before you get upset with them you might need to look inward and see why it is so offensive to you. Maybe there is something wrong with your actions that you need to change.

Honestly, I am a Cougar for life but while I am a fan of BYU, I am a student at the U. It’s more economical for me to be there than at the Y living in Salt Lake. Did I take offense because he said he didn’t like the university and everything associated with it? He included me in that comment by the way. Do I really give a crap? NO. I don’t care. That is his opinion and he was asked how he felt about the U and didn't sugar coat his feelings. Personally I am getting sick and tired of all the stupid questions that are asked from these stupid journalists. Why don’t we get mad at some of these stupid questions that are asked from the idiots that call themselves journalists?

I know for a fact that if I ever was good enough to be on TV and interviewed I would not be able to control all of my words. I would offend someone or many people all at one time just because I will tell you how I really feel about stuff. If you can’t take the answer, then don’t ask the question. I mean, seriously what do you really think he was going to say. “Oh I love the U they are a very classy people I would love to be friends with all of them, even though they threw beer on my family, screamed vulgarities to them and made it so they had to get a police escort out of the stadium.” He told you what he really felt like. Those of you that got offended by what was said maybe you aren’t the problem and therefore should not even care what he said.

Just one more thing, as I am currently attending the U I can tell you from first hand experience that most of the people up there have more hatred toward the Y then the Y does toward the U. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard offensive words from the “professors” toward the Church, BYU, and anyone that associates with us. Have I gone to the dean and cried to them and said they offended me they should be punished for what they said. NO I HAVEN’T. I am not a cry baby about it. It is their opinion and they are entitled to it. BTW my sister goes to the Y and she has never had professors put down the U like the U does to the Y. You know I used to respect the U and say that it was good for the conference and good for the school if they won in sports but after being up there for a few years I wouldn’t have a problem if they never won another game in any sport. Not that it will ever happen. Just saying, that I have lost a lot of respect for the U and many of the people that are up there. I used to think that it was just a rivalry and all in good fun but have come to learn that it is being taught by the professors to hate the Y and make fun and ridicule anyone associated with them and the church. But nobody makes them apologize to anyone in their class. They call it a holy war and I got to say they are more right then they think. This is more like LDS vs ANTI LDS. I am not saying all fans are this way and I have many good friends that are U fans but there sure are a lot of those that take it way to far and personal for a freaking game. On both sides.

Wow, I hope you feel better now. Just a thought for you. Just because peeps are expressing their opinions does not have anything to do with how they raise their children and whether or not they were offended. Personally I could care less about either team. My brother in laws love the Y so I give them a little crap just to get them riled up, but when it comes down to it I don't really care. I didn't watch the game, but I did see Max Hall on his rant on the news later that night. My opinion is still that it was lame, unprofessional, unsportsmanlike, immature etc, etc. Was I offended? No way. Did I think it set a bad example for my kids? Nope. I can revisit that one maybe when it is more relevant. But the point is, sharing an opinion with others on a public forum does not mean that people are super offended and or think the media is responsible for raising our children right. Trust me, it would take a lot more than Max Hall running his mouth to offend me. Now start talking trash about my sled and I might get offended!;)

Honestly, I am a Cougar for life

Nuff said! LOL!

I, like you, went to the U, and for the record did not have a good experience there! Any athlete who speaks in the way Hall did has little class or self control in my book! Judging me, or any of us, as a parents??? Really??? LMAO!! Not sure of your age, but I would guess you are young and definitely not a parent? I must also assume you have not coached a group of young boys who might think someone like Max Hall is a superstar?

Yes....we do need snow!

For the record. I don't get offended very easy!

Unless you take my Snowmobiling areas away!

Bla bla bla bla freakin bla. Can't believe I just read all that. I'm so sick of people justifying what he said. We are simply pointing out that Max Hall is a MegaDouche! There's no way around it. I have yet to meet a " I am a Cougar for life" that has said "Man, I can't believe Max said that, what was he thinking?"

hahahah

Now thats a funny video. I'm a Cougar and a Y alum, I think that Max was an idiot for saying that but I don't really care. I get a better kick out of the reaction everybody has had. Like pouring gasoline on a fire....people just exploded! haha

PLEASE SNOW!! PLEASE!

PLEASE SNOW!! PLEASE!

There, I just met one.

about being an example to younger athletes (like my son) who read, hear and look up to some of these guys!

This is where the comment about the kids come from. Yes they might be an example but it is up to you to show them good and bad examples. Who really cares what he said and what actions BYU takes. That is up to them.

It all boils down to Utah lost and they want something to complain about.

Here are some classless momments by the utes and why some people HATE the U.

"In the early 90's at a BYU/Utah game at the Y, a group of Ute fans screamed all the way through the prayer. Having not grown up here, I was shocked by the behavior. I haven't been since, but surprised multiple times."

"1. 2005 - utah wins games. And utah band plays during the ENTIRE senior blanket ceremony. Classless.

2. 2009 - game today. BYU player hurt down on the field. Utah band plays utah fight song. Once again, classless."

Oh and here is one that comes from kids my age. I played Baseball with them all in highschool and shows just how stupid some Utah guys can be. They all went to the Y on the mountain and painted red U's on it. They then took pictures of it and took it to a photo printing store IN PROVO. Needless to say they were caught and charged. Just a funny story of how these Utah fans are just as stupid as anybody else. Oh ya that example is classless in my book.
