Wish you would have made your poll votes viewable.

Didn't know I had the option!? Not sure if I have ever started a poll before...
Oh well... I did read Hall's scripted apology. Of course, he would be forced to do such a thing. I would hope if any high profile Utah player had done the same thing Whittingham would bench his *** in the bowl game! He clearly crossed the line and should be reprimanded....IMHO! Sounds like Mendenhall is not doing anything about it, in fact, he says he can understand it! Respect for Bronco Mendenhall lost....Check! Will wait to see how the school handles it....???

Neither_is_PJ (Just thought the whole story to be funny)

You should have made the poll so you could see who voted which way, more funner.:beer;:beer; See if Dunatic can fix that for ya.;)

I must admit...I am shocked that any of you support what this douche bag had to say! This is NOT a BYU vs. Utah thing! It is about correctness or not... about being an example to younger athletes (like my son) who read, hear and look up to some of these guys! It appears he is obviously young, hot headed, doesn't handle pressure well, and let his emotions get away at a VERY inopportune time! I will now sit back and see how the BYU football program and its' governing university and conference react????

had quite the conversation with devin about this today? its just screwed up.

Those who assume Sledguy didn't know the outcome of the game need to reread his post.

His point was, yes it was stupid to say, Get over it.

I am neither blue or red on this. His comments haven't changed my thoughts toward the fans or institutions on either side. All of us can get over emotional when our family has been wronged.

BYU or not he is NOT the first athlete to do or say something stupid.

Some athletes are just stupid. They don't think before they say things. Look at Carlos Boozer, Alan Iverson and their big mouths and the trouble he gets into! IMO true athletes can control themselves on and off the field / court what have you. Max Hall was VERY unprofessional about it. My dad used to always say to me growing up... THINK BEFORE YOU SAY THINGS!

Dude.....this is what Dan said, "Funny how the losing team says that the winners are always classless winners!" That was the reason for my comment! Re-reading it, I understand (I actually thought he meant "whiners," not "winners" as the last word in the sentence. BTW, Dan is a good friend of mine and whether he likes or dislikes byu, Utah or Maxipad Hall has no bearing on that friendship! ;)

First of all dont confuse Football with the mormon church. we all know the church turns a blind eye to football because in order to be competitive they have to. Football is a war, especially a game like this. Second of all, in a game like this you must psych yourself out to the max with hatred towards the opposing rival. This game is won on emotion and not skill if the teams are even close, uhh 9 an 2? So for the last few weeks these guys have been forcing themselves to HATE the other team. The game is totally dirty which fires them up even more. So his emotion carried over into the press conference, its understandable. We all knew a gratuitous apology would be coming but fact is, BYU won and he threw the smack down on Utah. So say what you want about him, hes the one wearing the smiles on monday morning unlike the Utes ;)

and you should have had a couple other options in the poll SS....

Im just a bitter Ute fan so im focusing on MH's comments because of the pain of losing

I understand that max let his emotions carry into the press room

I neither support nor condemn MH for what he said

I dont care I HATE the Utes too!

:)

Not a Y fan, but still funny

That's funny!:beer;(applebeer for you freak)

This has NOTHING to do with who won or who lost to me! Frankly, my team is likely playing for a national championship! It is about SPORTSMANSHIP!!!! I played football for plenty of years, at multiple levels, and never did I have to psych. myself up through hating my opponent. In fact, I believe I, and my team, played better when we respected our opponent. I believe his comments were assinine and anyone who supports them is displaying poor judgement!

But how do you really feel?? :D I am just dissappointed TCU won't have a shot at the National Championship!!

Amen bro!!! TEXAS!!
But it really sucks that such a good game is overshadowed by the stupidity of ones mouth. Tim and Colt had a whole different respond to their instate opponent, And those games are allways full of imotion, so Max has no excuse for his comments. My .02

Kim I understand what you are saying but Im just putting myself in max's shoes. Utah and BYU are BITTER rivals where low blows are the norm. He was hyped up and the game was dirty and raunchy. They disrespected his family the year before..... I understand why he did it, I dont think it was the wisest choice of words, Im just cutting him some slack. There is an interesting dynamic between these two teams that even most rivals dont have. Its the contrast between good and evil basically, good mormon boy image school vs liberal rebelious school amongst the mormons. It creates a large amount of animosity and finger pointing from both sides. Cut both sides some slack and you will get less worked up over it, unless of course you enjoy the drama, which many do.....

Max Hall sux as a QB but after I goth the whole story I certainly understand his frustration and brief lack of composer, Id probably get my butt kicked but I would want blood if my mother wife and kid were abused the way they were at RES. They needed a police escort to their car? Kyles wife gets punched in the face by a guy? WTF it is a game and all the posers sitting in the seats have about as much effect on the out come of the game as a dimple on a pimple on a piss ants a$$? Where are the men who should put a end to the BS right now! What the heii is wrong with people to allow such nonsense and do nothing? Yeah he picked the wrong venue to air his frustration, but as for him being a bad leader of his team? I dont think anyone on that team ( other than the towel boy) really thinks he's a leader? Just mho.;)

If its true his wife got punched in the face then all gloves are off. That man has a free ticket to say whatever he wants and you are wrong about him Kim. Sorry, I would go ape freakin ****t on them as well and i wouldnt be using the word Hate.

First, it was Kyle Whittingham's wife who was "allegedly" punched in the face. True story is...I guess she was gathering her kids to protect them when the byu peeps were storming the field and someone accidently elbowed her in the face or something.

As for Hall....sucks that someone jacked with his family. Unfortunately, comes with the territory if you are in the spotlight. Absolutely not OK for such a thing to happen to anyone anywhere, however! The best athletes seem to know how to channel their emotions, keep their poise and leave it on the field. Mike Singletary, now coach of the 49ers and one of my favorite athletes, was a good example as a player....intense and would rip your head off on the field, but a gentleman in a suit with his brief case in hand off the field. Men are warriors and protectors! That is in our DNA! However, being a successful warrior requires emotional control, deep thinking and careful planning! Half of the kids I coach are big byu fans. I surely don't want them to think this kind of nonsense is ok.....that's basically what I'm saying!
