I just had to start this thread because i cant believe the prices on some of these turbo kits out there now days some kits cost more than it has cost me to push my cummins over the 700 HP mark i know that there is alot of R&D work out there and the kits produce good power and work very well (at least most do that i have seen) but 6000 to 8000 for a turbo setup is just ridiculous especialy when you still need to spend some extra bucks to finish out the package of stuff that is needed to run them safely
Just my.02 worth

Later

I am not just talking about the 4 stroke kits but any of the kits out there

ya they are expensive. My buddy has a right hand drive nissan pulsar and it cost him at the most 3 grand to turbo it and it is the same turbo used in sleds.

Buy a sled with a kit on it already. There is super deals.Guys taking 25 thousand dollar losses im sure.

One thing to keep in mind is just how small the market is for the turbo builders. If they cant make a living, then there wont be any turbo builders.

Now, divide the market by the number of builders, and the market for each one gets even smaller.

You really cant compare the sled market to the tuner car market. I would bet the SoCal car market alone is bigger than the entire sled market.

If you are looking for a tried and true setup ready to go I am considering selling one of mine

$4500 www.yamahaturbo.com

best priced kit, and only kit that SOLVES the cracking header...because they spent the money to build a cast ductile iron header and downpipe....

VERY good kit, not the highest boost, but they focus on the entry segment up to 12PSI...

Toyota tundra 5.7 supercharger W/ fit kit, injectors, mapping, complete setup.
$5,150. Maintains factory warranty

Is that kit sold by Toyota? Manufactures are getting to the point if you don't turn your blinker on in time they will void your warranty.

I do agree that the market is small but i think by having the kits so high priced it is keeping it even smaller IMO it is just hard to shell out the big doe for these kits knowing that there is in some cases a 100% mark up from what it costs to produce

It's all about volume produced, 1 sled kit sold for probably 500 truck kits. Also try buying one for a Porsche, you will then think the sled kits are cheap (15K+ just to upgrade a 911tt)

I am just saying that for the bang for the buck there is no more reasonable priced motorsports activity you can participate in than snowmobiling, I had more in my heads and intake for my drag boat than my entire sled cost. Thats why I like sleding so much.....:D:D:D

Made by TRD, the kits can be bought at toyota dealers and also installed by them as "dealer options" covered fully under factory toyota warranty. However TRD is in no way owned by toyota.
