Future of Snowbikes

I gotta say, the Panthera PM-09 motor is looking more and more promising. The things that separate themselves from competitors are the following:

600cc vs 500cc
Servo powered powervalve
EFI w/two injector locations (base and TBI)
Exhaust temperature control
Estart plus kickstart

I am going to watch how their first customers do with their engines and make a plan after that. If they prove reliable and make more power than a 450, I’ll buy one.

Check out 999Lazers build here:

I have two predictions: nothing changes Snowbiking seems to be a dying trend. No more camso, no more yeti. Used snowbike kits can be had for a song. People will still do it but the original plans of cat enterting the market with a purpose built bike seems unlikely. It's just not a big enough market for that. Especially in the tough state they are in right now.

My second prediction: a beltless CVT drive bike.

Yeti is back and will likely have a new model out next season. However it appears that Timbersled has completely given up which is concerning.

This seems like it has potential to change motorcycles and especially snowbikes. My biggest gripe about snowbikes was shifting gears. Even with a rekluse it was just too easy to loose momentum.

The hardest part is making things light enough. An IVT or EVT is more likely. Those are a power-split transmission so they would need hydraulic, cvt belt, or electric motor drives, but could be done with a simple planetary design. With a set of capacitors on an EVt you could get a boost situation where the motors could dump power into the system if needed.
