It's snowin like a biotch right now......I have stuff to do tomorrow, but I will be up there on Sunday......supposed to continue snowing tonight and tomorrow. I guess the new pistons and rings will have to wait for another weekend
OK, so I should look outside before I post....sheesh, was a friggin BLIZZARD when I came home from work at 7....just got back from the store and....what the hell???? WHY ARE THE STARS OUT?????
Anyway, I went to the parking lot for the fireman trail, 4"-5" at the trail head....not gonna drive out to Primrose tonight, but I will be going to Soldotna tomorrow....I was planning on checking on my way by anyway to see where I want to go up so if there hasn't been a report, I'll give one tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Fire trail sux. Ice and ice, but is manageable if you have studs or a rope and several of you to pull. 2 to 3 inches of new snow on top of tracked out snow every where. Was snowing fairly hard when we left at 3:30 pm. Hope it dumps alot, cause it aint no good right now.

Don't believe the Avy Center. Just a couple of inches on the ground here. Looks like a little more may come in the future. Will need a good dump to get onto the trail & cover up the ice

Looks like I am going to look at firemans, then probably go to Primrose.
I went by Primrose around 2pm and there was only a couple of sleds/trucks/trlrs in the parking lot....doesn't look like the trail is torn up. Was snowing pretty good when I came back thru around 9pm tonight.....only looked like 4"-6" of fresh by the parking lot.

Primrose trail is a total ice chute. Went up yesterday and if your going take straps. Youll need em to pull sleds up.

Went up Firehouse trail yesterday. Took 3.5 hours and 4 people to make it up to Lost Lake. Snow was good up top, flat light, and snowing really hard. Started two small avalanches so be very careful. First time there, had a blast.

Went up Firemans today....I've never been to the cabin in 10 minutes, did today. I was (I think) the 3rd or 4th one up this morning, trail was very good....best I've ever seen it (we got about a foot or so of fresh snow yesterday evening, last night). Whe we came back down at the end of the day there was some icy spots, but I would say not too bad.
Visibility wasn't too bad most of the day, until we got back by the lake, very flat light. There was about 2'? of fresh snow (to my knees and I'm 6') wasn't the light powder,....more of a slightly wet powder. Riding was good, had to watch for pits.....wasn't epic but it was the best day of riding I have had at LL.
BTW....it was snowing like chit when we left the lake, and has been going back and forth snow/rain in town.

Is there anybody (from north of Anchorage) who is planning on going to LL during week? 2 days would be my preference, but since I don't have a truck anymore and somebody would have to pick me up from Palmer, I dont' really care for how many days...
Im planning on heading down thursday or friday...not sure which yet depends on when it decides to clear off
...with Dvarmit (doug) and his son....i would have room for one more. 3 on the trailer one in the bed.

hey maybe I'll come tag along friday if you guys end up going and if I can get my sled running a little better. I went to hope today and it was awesome. Quite a bit better than turnagain pass.

yep..I could get sick friday as well..course I need 2 days to know I am getting sick....
WOW! If it keeps snowing I'll have to start loading up on the Geritol for a Friday ride at LL!!! Dasha, If you get a group together I wouldn't mind tagging along if you can tolerate an old guy! If old guys are an issue I could also stay back a few lengths so people didn't think I was with "The Crew"!

That would be awesome! Is it "maybe" trip or "just about for sure" trip? How many days?
We learned not to make your plans according the forecast completely... If it says "partly cloudy, scattered showers", chances are it'll be good.
AKM7, I am not in a mercy of people who own trucks and have extra space.... so "my crew" is pretty variable right now, and I have never met AK800RMK151 or DVarmit, they might be older than you, or younger than me, but who cares?

Well do a day trip and its pretty much a for sure deal....i think by wednesday well know for sure if we need to "adjust" to the weather....im just riding on the break later this week
