go off plugs and piston wash before you look at an EGT. egts are good for keepin an eye on things, they should not be totally relied on when tuning.

Ok Ill X3 it then and leave it off for now. Not sure on throwing the thingamajigger in the fire just yet! :face-icon-small-hap

The avenger 2 is a good gauge setup but they are prone to circuit board failure if or when the batteries are left in them over a long period of time like all summer. The batteries will sometimes start to leak acid out and around them and then eat away at the circuit board. Check out Exhaust Gas Technologies web page and or contact them to see if they can repair it if it becomes more then just dead batteries.

Send the Avenger back...they will refurb or go through it.
I'm due to send mine too.
Got it back in 2002 and now discovered this fall that the unit won't run unless I'm on the pipe. LOL.
Needs a battery check-up.

hey, anyone got or anyone know of someone whos got an old sled sitin out in the back field that dont run(but could) that they would like to get rid of? im lookin for an oldie to get runnin to dick off on and ride the piss out of...possibly do some hard core trail ridin up lolo or somethin lol. pretty much a ****s and giggles ride lol

2XM3, curious did you machine the brake disc to fit the avid chain case because I machined the avid chaincase to fit the slp lightweight brake disc as the hub offset is different than the stocker disc.

Don't anyone let Winger kid you. I've witnessed perfection from him also. :face-icon-small-coo

forgot to reply...yes I had to machine the chaincase to clear the hub...went for a pretty big gap set it at .005 clearance...lmao :boink::boink:

Well got both of my trailing arm brackets built today..and painted..made a couple of spacers and a nice rock shield . all the new bearings and stuff pressed on so I think i';m finally going to end the mockup process and use real rivits...lmao....:face-icon-small-coo

fought my D8 damn near half the day. took twins off last week so its all stock now cept for a dobeck gen 3.5 fuel controller. sled idled great most of the morning but then it wouldnt idle, gauge pod and lights would flicker or shut off until RPM was increased. sled ran good for about half the day then decided to flip **** and go into limp mode and the check engine light was constantly blinkin(no pattern)...woudnt come out of it so we figured the box confused the ECU or some ****...so we hacked away and unhooked it and the sled ran ok for the rest of the day on stock ecu. wouldnt pull over 7700rpm again with 59gram weights. ran ok but it is rich(plugs black as hell). rode it the rest of the day and on the way back to the truck it decided to go back into limp mode. i stopped and shut the sled off and restarted it and it went away but every once in a while on the way down the check engine light would just blink once or twice like it was sensing det. but EGT's would not get over 1080*-1100* pinned and we had about 3 gallons of av gas in it cuz i was gunna be ****in with the fuel settings today but that didnt happen. never felt or heard like det at any time and plugs were showing rich when i got to the truck. anyone got a clue as to wtf is goin on? oh also did a compression test and got 90 on both sides...this seems low(might have been how i was pulling it over) but they were both the same. pulled rave valves and looked at pistons and they looked tits from what we could see.

ragincajun, I don't have a clue but some things I would check and I bet you already have but - Being you just switched pipes check the o2 sensor and wires.
Check all wiring harness connectors to be sure they are clean and dry. Check to see that all of the pins inside the connectors are of equal length and one isn't pushed in (or maybe should say starting to push out of the connector). Be sure all connectors are making a good connection and pushed in all the way.
Check the harness to be sure no wires have rubbed against anything (frame, bolt, etc..) and is shorting out.
90 psi compression seems low to me. It would be nice to see about 125 or so.
Is there any chance there is water in the fuel messing with you?

Lost Trail=tight boondocking and broken stuff. But better than sitting at home.:face-icon-small-win

I had to keep moving because when there was mention that we may be lost everyone turned and looked at the fat kid.

I was happy with how the new sled ran. Couldn't find anywhere to really open it up for any period of time but all in all things seem good.

I wasn't laughing "AT" him as much as..................OK! I was laughing at him until 10 seconds before loading the sled in the trailer I ripped my Klim coat.:face-icon-small-con
That was the first time we were able to keep track of Westmont during his strange excursions in the trees. Just followed the hacking noices that could be heard even over the sleds. :boink:
I tink it maybe close to time for a little boost!!:face-icon-small-coo

Seeley was 3' feet of crust and a few inches of fresh on there.
We didn't get past the warming hut at Elsina. I had to tow out a broken recoil rope. :)
