Locks cut on trailer at RE on 4/10

I was at RE with some friends from the Denver metro area and when we left our 4th guy noticed that one of the levers on the back door was off. Upon further inspection we found both of the padlocks on the back door had been cut off. In looking through the trailer nothing was missing but a few of our bags we opened and probably rifled through. Funny thing, no tools were missing, and there were no spare sleds to scavange parts from. We were in the muddy creek lot and the lot was full. We were in the white 07 chevy crew cab with a black 7'x27' american hauler trailer, the truck is pretty hard to miss since the owner washes and polishes it sometimes twice a day. The other guys in our group were dragon12, tracksvs2wheels and one other guy. Not sure what to think, but one of the other guys in the lot had some comforting words, that stealing that lot would have been pretty dumb since most of the guys around him had a gun.

That's crappy. Dave already posted this though. I really like Dizz's idea of a sting. Catch the phukkker and then have a beat down party.:yell:

Saturday I was in the West end of the lot at Bushy's place from 2:45 on. I didn't see anything, but I wasn't looking either.

somebody needs to mount a webcam on a pole and catch those bassturds.

PJ, I posted this on the other site but not here. I posted it more or less to let everyone know that someone is doing stupid stuff in the lot. We were pretty lucky (I think), but I hope no one else goes though it. Hopefully they slip up and someone catches them in the act and this all stops now. Doesn't seem right to steal from anyone, let alone a fairly tight knit group of people like sledders. It could also be some jagoff driving by the lot and waiting for people to leave so they can do their thing. At this point anything is possible. I also heard that someone else was broken into a few weeks ago and it sounded similar to this one. Let the speculation begin.

Random thoughts by dave not necessarily put into a cohesive paragraph.

I only wish they would have got caught as the neighboring fellas would have done right by us and hung them little biatches from the flag pole and we all could have took turns whipping them with our worn out $100 skidoo belts, cuz hell I had 3 of them in my tote of spare parts and it would have at least made me feel better.

Dude you could totally hang one of those from your camper and since you always park in your spot you would have a good view of damn near the whole lot ....

:)

They make those nifty little digital game cameras with the infrared flash so they are pretty much undetectable unless somebody is looking for one. A helmet cam is not a bad idea either, since they are so small.

Even if you did get a picture of someone, it may be hard to find them unless it is someone from the community we would recognize. Would be nice to find out who the numb nutt is though.

we are going up this weekend and will keep an eye out, thanks for the heads up.

the frenchies used to steal from us all the time when we went up to quebec. guys with brand new rigs were getting the whole thing stolen because they would take the VIN to their "parts Guys" on the inside, he would make a key, put a little duck tape over the onstar and you were screwed.

Has the routte county sherriff been notified?

County Sherrif was not notified because they didn't take anything, but I agree...maybe I should have reported the incident. Guess I was just feeling lucky and that God was on my side being they didn't steal anything and that I didn't get a speeding ticket earlier in the day when Mr. Officer of the Law asked me to step into his office on the way up the hill:)

Either way, sucks that it has started to happen up at the RE lot. I know they have this issue in WY at Greenrock, but never felt it would happen in good old CO...expecially with the General (a.k.a. Bushy) a mere 15 yards away:)

P.S. I resent the comment about washing and waxing my truck 2 times a day...it is only two times a week, at most!

Track~

OH MY!:embarassed:

FYI, the Muddy Creek lot falls in Grand County. Routt won't respond. Just for your future use. The number is 970-725-3343 Press 1 for Dispatch.

General Napolean will keep an eye out;) lol The way rigs are packed in down the center it's pretty easy for someone to slip in between rigs and not be seen, even with people in the lot. Thieves are bold! and people don't really look for or notice suspicious activity unless they have a reason. I did see a white, chevy astro van tooling around about 9 am on Sat (not the van with the XP in it). Probably just a lost twig pig, though. Keep your money on you is the best advice I can think of. Call the sheriff and file a report of breaking and entering. That's a pretty serious crime right there, even if they didn't get any money. It's a serious enough crime that you can unload some lead into them for just doing that. Though probably not in CO...

I wish I lived closer to the ears or I would be up there just to sting these M.F.'s! I would sit in the lot or just away from it and watch all day. Oh the fun we could all have with them once caught. I think a severe beating, tie them to a sled, blindfold them, take em out to BFE and let em fend for themselves. Hey we would all be unknown with helmets on etc.. Oh what fun!!!

Only if they break into your home and you feel that your family or self is in danger. So follow the rule of S S S. or just maim them, tie em to a tree and let all of the peeps parked in the lot do a modern day stoning.

If you catch him in the act of stealing in YOUR vehicle, wouldn't YOU feel threatened??? I sure would....4-6 rounds of .45 ACP would make me feel a lot safer though.

Yes, but unfortunately that law only applies to homes. You would find yourself behind bars for defending your property in a vehicle, hence the SSS theory.
