Island Park Snow Conditions

Were getting ready for our first winter trip up to The Big Springs area ( old fransin mill site). 10 years strong. Were lookin at being there from the 30th to the 5th (of Jan). Im hoping for a couple of good storms... Hopefully you Local IP riders will keep us in the loop and let us know how its going in Paradise.

The snow is dumping!
You still have to be careful on some of the south facing slopes! Where the wind has hit some of those faces, the sharp and lumpy's are lurking! Not alot of base to it yet, but it makes for an awesome SUPER POW DAY!

Woke up with 5 more inches of powder here in Rexburg over night and still comming down. Cant imagin what they got up there. Weater man on local news 8 says snow every day on this eight day forcast.

new snow report cookie-eater-- there is about 24-26 inches of new snow on Bills Island and still snowing pretty heavy with no signs of stopping. Life is good up here in the mountains :D

too bad my sled wont run :(

Be careful when ya head up that way. There has been lots of new snow, almost 3 ft down low, so its going to be pretty dangerous up high. Be prepared and safe and have a good time!

Snow conditions are sounding sweet!!! Can I ask what do you guys have for elevation out there in IP??? Theres 14 of us coming out there so we need to know what to get the sleds all set at. Thanks alot!

Just talked with my buddy who has a cabin in the Shotgun West area (approx 12 miles west of Hwy 20 on Yale-Kilgore) and they have received over 40" of new snow in the last 36 hours.:D Bottomless, no base, pretty hard to play in, very light snow. They had a hard time in meadows and couldn't make it up any hills at all (boondocking), all three are good, experienced riders.

Some of the local elevations are: Island Park 6290', Sawtelle 7710' and Black Canyom 8170'. Enjoy!:D

Spent the last 5 days at the cabin on Henry's. Didn't get to do much riding other than the hills around us (too many little kids, and family things), powder is crazy deep, definately no base, I would say probably 4 feet +, snowing pretty heavy when we left at noon today, wind was picking up pretty strong. Definately worth a trip from whereever you may be, be careful up in Jeff./Sawtelle though, all this new snow on top of a little crusty=big time avy danger.
