Island Park Snow Conditions

When we were up there two weekends ago the snow was deep up top of the loop just crusted from the wind and warm temps, but it still has to be decent to ride in..... and hey it is definatley better than not riding!!

We went today on the black Canyon loop. No snow down low and about 20" on top. We could have, and maybe should have driven our truck to the warming hut at the two top black canyon loop junction. It was really bare until the the warming hut and then it got decent. They got a few inches of snow last weekend.

Where is the warming hut?? I was planning to drive until i was 3/4 stuck and then unloading....

Just an update...... we went up today and rode blacks canyon, and two top. The snow up high is getting better but still not enough(2 feet or so). It is still pretty sparce down low I recommend parking at the powerlines if your making the loop, it will save a little wear on your sled.

I'm kind of new to the area. I'd like to head up and kide blacks canyon but that map is kind of hard to read. I can get to IP okay but that's about where it stops. Do you go past macks inn? What road do you turn off of from the main highway?

Mile post 394.5 going north, turn right at chevron station on big sprs rd. snow park is about a mile out if there is enough snow to unload there.

What is the latest for IP? Weather report is calling for snow all week.

I was up there for thanksgiving and there was only about 4-5 inches in the under the trees.

Suppose to get snow pretty much all next week, should make for some better riding. I think I am going to head up next friday if they get the snow they are calling out for.

Went riding again today.

We went up today. We went blacks canyon. We unloaded at the warming hut. The snow sucked but it beats staying at home... It was solid snow from the warming hut on. I wouldn't unload any lower than that until they get more snow. They got a little new snow since last week but you not enough to get off of the trail.

It layed about 2 in. in Rexburg overnight. storm headed up to IP. I'm sure it dopped at least 2 in there, probably more. Weather reports snowing all week...could winter finally be here??

We headed up to IP today. They didn't get much more than we did here in Rexburg. We rode blacks canyon loop. There was about 2 ft. up high so we were able to get off the trail a little bit. I've heard snow all week especially this weekend. We'll prob head up again next weekend.

looks like the storm went west instead of going north. Togwotee got about 8 in from that storm. if it doesn't snow again looks like I'm headed out that direction thiss weekend

I need a little advice on what to do. Theres about 12-15 buddies and we have a trip scheduled out to Island Park with a cabin in January the 4th-the 8th. I dont know if I should give the lady my credit card yet for the cabin because if it doesn't snow I think we still have to pay for the cabin. What do you guys think is there going to be snow at that time in the year?

We have a cabin on Henry's lake and I've never been unable to ride in Jan. Some year's there will be less snow than others, but there's so much terrain you'll be fine. Weather forecast tonight is calling for snow up there pretty much the rest of the week, with a pretty big storm heading in on Fri/Sat.

There is always plenty of snow by this time in IP. You'll be fine. Have a good time, that sounds like fun.
