Island Park Snow Conditions

It was a cool 56 degrees in Island Park yesterday. With the rain over night you might want to bring your waterski's.

I was planning to ride this weekend but I am gonna ditch the sled for the CRF this weekend!

nonetheless

Sold the CRF last year, so the sleds are comin. If the snow is chitty, we'll just eat drink and be merry.. We got a cabin at the Pines, and we're just bringin the sled deck, so we can travel a little to ride some better stuff...

Never been there before so I'll be kinda lost, but that can be fun too...

There is plenty of snow to handle a few days of this. Try riding Taylor creek or Willow creek. Just go west at the Elk Creek Station and keep driving west. Go till the road is not plowed anymore and park in the lot. You can head straight north from there or kinda northwest.

I would also try riding Black Canyon to Fish creek. Grab a trail map and you will be golden. Oh and dont forget your beacon and GPS. You never know what IP might throw at you.

Good Luck!

Lots of snow

We left IP this morning and had been there 4 days. In the last 3 days we had about 2 ft down low and 3-4 up high. It should be great for a week or 2 until it warms up again.but it was awsome other than having snow every day. Sure beats work though.

Looks like the snow will be setting up

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. North northwest wind between 3 and 5 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 13.

Saturday: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.

Sunday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38.

Sunday Night: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Monday: A slight chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a high near 41.

Most places down low got around a foot of new, up high like Jefferson, Black Canyon, etc. got 2 feet +, it's not supposed to get really warm this week, and this time of year there won't be too many people up there on the week days, so this is really the best conditions so far this year. There are always places to stay, there are quite a few hotels scattered between I.P. and West, I've never stayed in them because we have our cabin on Henry's. I do know that there are many cabins for rent as well, check out www.rainbw.com and click the tab in the left column, I would guess at this time of year you might be able to get some good deals. It will definately be a good week to ride.

Cabin rentals

Check out Island Park Idaho.com and go to cabin rentals. They have more to offer than anyone out there. We have rented from Rainbow and Outback over the years but this website has more cabins for rent than the other 2. As far as snowit should be awsome and hopefully you see some sun. We were just there and saw sun one day and snow the other 4 days.
Have fun and be safe.
