Island Park 20/21 Snow Conditions

To be clear Ww, liked your warning it’s too early, shallow to call in the masses, not your misfortune.
Yeah.. it's a sickness. Pretty sure we all contract it, gotta roll the dice from time to time, came up with snake eyes this time :poop:

We were up all weekend, had a couple mishaps, will be fixed tomorrow night but it was a very good weekend. Sunday was a bit of a struggle with the 1/4" of ice ontop, and freezing rain, thought we could get out of it with increased elevation but no luck. left around 3 and headed home.

Glad you were there before the rain came and trashed it.
I swear.
Why does it always WARM UP around here.

We are going back up on Saturday to test another sled.
There was plenty of snow and more coming down all day long
The higher we went the better the snow was

Visibility was 1/8-1/4 mile most of the day with minimal wind

Snow was thin in west Yellowstone and you could still see brown grass coming through.

Didn’t look like any groomers had yet hit any of the major trails, but there were few or no whoops anywhere.

Two tops was utterly untracked. We broke trail from west all the way over the mountain.

Same for black canyon.

The whole complex was just deserted on Thursday and for the most part we had the entire mountain to ourselves.

Another foot or so and I would say we will be golden for all off trail buried surprises. As it is, there had been some bold adventurous riders who had dared fate and left a few deep cuts that could be seen.

But our goal yesterday was to start the breakin process on two new turbos, so all we wanted was a pipe of miles and no broken sleds.

Is that tunnel bracing OEM or ???

Have to take off the rear grab rail? (bumper?)

How the riding in Island Park now? What weather reports do you all use to see snow conditions and forecast?

Snows settled but rideable, rain crusted top, 8-10” soft under out in sun, some great spots in the shade.
My girls and I had a gorgeous day up on top today.
3 degrees getting into trailer....

Heading up on the 27th. Spend the night in SLC the 27th. Island Park West Yellowstone 28th thru the 2nd. First time there in a decade. Started with 8 in the group. Down to 2 after others going to Lake Tahoe area. Not wanting to sleep in a trailer of 8 guys for 4 days ... cant rent a room in California. Happy to take my money and rent a room in Yellowstone.. I hear you can even eat at resturants. Hows to snow?

Found a great spot today, fantastic snow in shaded areas, still needs more depth over rocks and trees for go anywhere, softer deeper snow than yesterday’s, higher we’ve gone last two days harder the snow.

We did opt to unload at lots the past two days cuz low meadows are shallow, typically don’t trailer from cabin.
