is a 600 big enough

I have a 17 year old, he is 6'2'' 160#, currently he is riding a 2002 rmk 700 and he rides real good. i have a chance to buy a 2007 600 h.o. 155 it has a bikeman pipe other than that it is stock. i want a 700 rmk on the iq chassis but cant find one very close, will this 600 be big enough

I have an 08 600 ho 155 that is my 18 yr old sons..if he likes the steep stuff..its not enough..but for everything else..its great...I have ridden it in 3-4 ft of champayne powder..did great only time it was a problem is when the hills got steep........

that was what i was thinking that the mountains wouldnt be to good on it

but..if it is a smoking deal..you could get it...then go thru carls cycle sales and buy their 660 kit for it..(most say they run as good as a stock 8) and the kit price isnt to bad(about 2 grand) and it is reliable.....

I ride nothing less than 8500' and mostly 10-12k ft and it does awesome unless it is real deep and steep. I've been able to ride it just about everywhere that the others in my group go with their 8's. If it's meant for nothing but hillclimbing, then it will fall short of the 8's.

In most conditions my 660 goes where the 800's go, but when it gets steep there is no comparison. If it were me and I had to do it over again I would get an 800.

A very good buddy of mine now rides a 2007 600 HO with a SLP pipe. He is 6'3" and 220. He goes everywhere. Sure yesterday he could not climb some stuff in a single pock that I could, but...... Great sled. Like AK stated, 660 or 685 kit from Carls will wake that 600 up big time when the time comes.

I got a 07 600 155 last year and was very surprised. It has avery solid motor and should out climb the 02 700. IMO it would a great sled for him! Its a great carver too! Some of the hills it might not climb he shoudn,t be on anyways. Good shopping

i think that probably 90 percent of the time it would be just fine, he keeps up on the old 700 real good and that new chassis is unbeleivable to boondock with. another thought about it is he is only 17 he might grow pretty fast. pros and cons to everything i think i will make an offer on it
thanks for the help

Here is a pic that shows a little of what a 6 can and can't do. The tracks on the left show 2 600 tracks that had to cut a little bit to get up, the 8's went straight up. The tracks on the right, behind the trees is where only one 800 went up, the rest of us, including other 8's had to come down and to the left in the photo before coming up.

Ya he should be fine on a 600, it will go a heck of a lot more places than what he is on right now...It will keep up with most new sleds today...Good LucK:D

Looking at the very right side of the peak, just right of the rocks, there are some ridges that has one of the best natural jumps I've ever ridden.

This is it, and the 600 likes to fly.

The partially treed slope to the upper left of my rear bumper is where the peak pic was taken.

The 600's are sweet.

I'm 6'0, and 220 fully geared up. My "lil six" has never been "out funned". I've always been able to get where I needed to go, but as Skibreeze illustrated, you might have to cut a bit where an 8 would go straight up. I came off an 02 800 VE 156, and I wouldn't trade my 07 600 for it ever. I ride the same areas that Skibreeze does, 9-12k. Here's another pic of the same peak in Breeze's photo.
I'd say he will be stoked on the 600.

The 600's do have a tendancy to get airborn.....

First, he'll be able to get alot more out of the chassis then the 02. Second, the "lil six" will out shine his current 700. Third, I would change out the track before anything else on the 07 model. I have and 07 600 and an 08 700 and the only complaint I have about the "backup" (also known as the wifes) 600 is the track trenches more than the 5.1. But, the 5.1 sucks also compared to a Camo extreme or a powerclaw. So, to summerize, get the 600HO put a Camo extreme on it and he will love it.

This picture is a perfect example. One of those switchbacks is mine and the others is SkiB's 600. I have a 660 and had a hard time making it up that hill as well as SkiB while the other stock XP's / M8 made it straight up no problem. There really is a difference. With that being said 90% of the time my sled is all I need. I just want more :D I weight 75 pounds more than SkiB so he may have been able to take mine up

75 lbs different? Thats a huge horsepower loss compared to your buddy. No comparison...you need to divide the weight and horsepower...calculate the power to weight ratio

If i was you i would buy it for him and if he dont like it leave him home it will out run the sled hes on now i have a buddy that runs a 600 and he boondocks and climbs a little bit not this time of year though snow not right but he boondocks way better then the M8s do witch that could be just from the rider too but he can climb pretty good for a 600 i would buy it for him
