if you were not on a pro which sled woudl you be on? i'm keeping my 12 pro 155 but want to unload my bcx 800 etec and buy something else. i'm thinking of a pc8 snopro or a new summit. please don't give me answers like "neither, i will only ride the pro." i know how my pro is and i love it, but would like to have something else in the fleet. maybe hear from guys who demo'd the new summit?

Cat?

I really wanted own a Pro Climb this year. I had the chance to ride one last spring in bad snow, but it wasn't an "aha" moment for me. Then I spent a day on one in more "normal" snow conditions, and it just didn't do it for me. We have a good local Cat dealer, and it would be far easier for me to take my sled in when it needed service. The things I noticed most about the Cat I rode were that it trenched more, and required more effort to ride in off camber situations. Did it feel like it had more power? Yep, when it finally got up on top of the snow. Did it feel like 20 more hp? No way. I am impressed with their power plant, but that is about it. The folks I know that ride them have put a fair amount of cash into them to get them to handle like a...you guessed it. The other great thing I have noticed about my Pro RMK is that it is unarguably easier to get unstuck. I am intrigued by the new SkiDoo, and I think the Cat is a good sled as well. Pretty tough to go wrong nowadays I suppose.

A 12 summit with the 800 etec. If they get the ergos right and weight down I will look again. I was close to buying a Doo but the options on the Poo for the same money as a cookie cutter of the box Doo got me to turn the corner. If I sell the Pro I will look again at the Summit ad maybe next time I will pick that one. They are both very close IMO and both sleds will do what I want them to do.

I considered a cat, Like them but have a thing about first year sleds. I have rode one, I like it just not sure if I like it as much as the other two at this time.

If I had no other choice then It would likely be the PC8. Simply because they handle similar to the pro, IMHO. The ETEC handles very strange for my riding style. No bashing, I prefer the build quality and the motor of the ETEC, but prefer the handling of the cat. I just think it would be easier to jump off the PRO and get comfortable on the cat, rather than redefine my riding style to ride an ETEC. Anyone who says the new 13 ETEC handles as the same or similar as the PRO, is on glue. I rode the 12 and it has ZERO handling characteristics of the RMK, so there is no way the 13 is that much different, looking at the subtle changes they made.

And as for yamaha, I would need to go to the gym more often, and who has time for that.

we rode the 13 xm this last weekend, i had found the older xps big and hard to sidehill compared to my m8, but the new xm is a different animial, i have a felling that new skid will be the future, it climbed much better than the pro

the rep was saying that the weight of the pro compared to the weight of their new xm is less than 20 lbs once they are full of fuel, not that big of difference

i personally like the proclimb, but the belt issue is a major issue

My second fav sled, after my pro of course.. 09 RMK 700 155. Awesome sled!

X3 on that one, that's what I traded in for my pro. It didn't get around near as well as the pro, but man it was a blast to ride, I would say easier to lay over and sidehill, but the pro gets around a lot better on its side
