If you wear an "ABS Bag" or "Similar" aren't you part of the problem ?

The velocity of the airbag crushed her internal organs. She had NO external cuts or bleeding at all.

but is it not undeteremined...i mean she still could have recieved fatal injuries and visible cuts and bleeding had the bag not deployed..???..how is one to know the outcome of the other possible situation had the bag not deployed..???..

The experts tell me that external cuts and bleeding is caused by broken glass. The FJ Cruiser windshield did not even break. it only cracked. Todays plastic cars are designed to break away. The FJ's frame and internal rollbar did it job very well. As i said the windshield did not break while the steering wheel by design snapped in half doing it job.

The velocity of vehical airbags are being litigated all across the globe. Experts will tell you the airbags are designed and tested for 200# males 6'0" or taller.

OT, sorry for your loss..that would be a terrible thing to go thru...but it is a known fact that small framed drivers run that risk(my X was a small person as well and I always tried to get her to slide her seat back)but even you must admit that by and by safety equipment does more good then bad...there are accidents that do happen..there are things you cant plan for..but overall the best you me or anyone can do is be as informed and prepared as we possible can be, and be observant of the position we allow ourselves to be in...again..I am sorry for your loss...

Yes and No to the safety equipment..... There are plenty of folks who survive and many folks who survive in a "vegitable state of mind" or life long health issues after these types of crashes.

Started like a good natured dig discussion but the more I think about it,

To slam thought-out engineering (car air bags)(avi-air bag devises) etc, as lure
of death for only profit and as irresponsible application, HMMM

An ax to grind maybe OT for your situation, but I do not feel rubber stamping sled sport individuals who buy, study and practice that tools use, turn into pimply faced, wild eyed acting 14 year olds the mome they strap on?< I resembled that remark 33yrs ago ;)
Good to get the constructive eyes up on the hill bud, but I am willing to bet you
that the devises of topic have way better survival ratio with users with all the mentalities applicable to the general public. Possible we should all be in five point harness, but most would just let the equipment dangle due to the extra effort.

No 100% for much now days, but heck that does not mean we should not shoot for close to the pin if it saves even 15% more than without.
I know that after I heard about the accident, I put my rig in 4x4 for others sake and not just for that of my sheet metal.
I want an avy air bag.
Wish I had saved more from summer, I vow not to change to Jeckel and Hide
when I get one..

Are you Serious??

Clearly, if your an owner of such a bag you admit to taking the risk on potential dangerous slopes during snowmobile activity.

OT

Unless you ride flat land or lakes you risk being in an avalanche. 35 degree slopes can be the most dangerous!!

Why wouldn't you want every tool and chance available to save yourself, be saved, and save others ??

I don't know why you would even post a thread like this? I'm assuming you are now going to buy the latest and greatest flat land sleds because by your mentality you would also " admit to taking the risk on potential dangerous slopes during snowmobile activity " Because you own almost every new " Mountain Sled " every year and write up your reports....

Avalanche safety gear is responsible!!! Some of us live in the mountains so don't make us sound like the bad guy for using proper safety equipment....

What were you really thinking posting this and what are you trying to prove?

After reading this thread...

Lots of pro's lot's of con's

I think I'll do a controlled test and cook bacon naked... But I have a hunch that my superman boxers will protect my hootus from the unwanted splatter,
or will it just seep through and hurt anyway

Lolz :beer;

Snowmobilers, Skiers & Snowboarders some knowingly and many not knowingly play on "avalanche prone slopes all the time". Many run out and purchase the latest in devices only "masking" there riding habits and slope choices on any given day.

Well i never ever considered one ,,ever..usually extreme boondook instead of avy terrian...but now i will...when i can afford it..not just for me...but just in the slightest slightest chance that i get in one...and the slightest chance that it does save me just once...then its worth it...NOT JUST FOR ME...but for the other guys that might be with me...just maybe if im selfish and save ME...i just might be able to save one of them...and i think they should expect that of me...as i should them...we try...we live...we die..we cry...truth be known that we are all eventually forgotton...takes a few generations but we are forgotton...so we really did not exist...so does it matter..??

The day is coming when the entire backcountry will become regulated and everyone will have to change there riding habits.

just got done pulling the brakes off my truck

people who need brakes while driving are just plain unsafe! If you need brakes you've already been driving too fast and should have planned ahead a little better.
