If you wear an "ABS Bag" or "Similar" aren't you part of the problem ?

You forgot to add your "crystal ball " and advice you received from your "rabbits foot"

OT

Unfortunately my crystal isn't used for seeing into the future, I use it to converse with mythical beasts known as trolls over the internet... Sadly though they never really give you any relevant information, they just kinda poke and prod and try to set you up with loaded questions, and for some reason even when you tell them they answer they want to hear they don't say correct..they just resort back to poking and prodding.. strange beasts they are.

Clearly, if your an owner of such a bag you admit to taking the risk on potential dangerous slopes during snowmobile activity.

OT

Have you considered giving him a coupon to the local brothel ? That might straighten out his riser bar.

Fine sled by the way, and maybe before he buys a longer track you might suggest that he buy a beacon.

OT

gee OT..that second quote is yours from a different forum..so i don;t understand..???..what gives...the second quote of yours supports 99 percent of the people who posted on this forum that disagreed with you....it really discredits all your input on this thread...and supports all the others..later OT...remember dinner is still a go ...spaggetti..you bring the wine...slick may show as well

There is "risk" and than there is "putting a revolver to your head". How many shots will it take ?....Remember the movie Deer Hunter when Danny was playing Russian Roulette with a 6 shooter and lost.....

Moa !!!!!

OT

I don't know, why don't you try it and we'll see. :face-icon-small-win

Quoting fictional movie characters to make a point. Help me please!

This one is right up there with the weather man saying, "Avalanche danger is high, so stay out of the back country".

I guess we should all be circling that tree out in front of our house, all day. That'd be fun...

Thanks for the invite. I'll bet it would be interesting and fun to meet OT and you for dinner. I actually live not far from you. I like white but I'll bring a couple Red for you.

PS, you spelled spaghetti wrong. Poor spelling is something that shouldn't be tolerated IMO.;)

There have been some comments here that airbags don't work in major avalanches and this is incorrect.

We’ve been doing a lot of testing of avalanche airbags for the past 6 or 7 years and they do work in large slides. The amount of snow coming down the mountain does not affect the ability of the bag to lift the user to the surface, and airbags stay on top of both small slides and huge slides. The airbag doesn’t sink into larger avalanches because there is more snow. The airbag rides up and on top of the slide, and not out in front of the slide. Most airbags are found about 2/3 of the way down the avalanche and off to one side of the slide.

We find airbags on top of avalanches that run a mile or more. The airbag floats near the surface of the slide the entire way down the hill, and this keeps the user from being killed by rocks and debris on the face of the mountain. Just because you are in a major slide does not mean the airbag won’t work. They work more often then they don’t in big avalanches.

We will be in Invermere, BC at Panorama doing some testing next week. Stop by the bar and we'll show you the pics.....

1. Can your avybag save others during an avalanche ?

2. Can your beacon save others during an avalanche ?

Which is the better tool....1 tool that might save yourself ? OR 1 tool that might save yourself and your buddies ?

OT

Here is the dummy looking uphill after the avalanche. We found him in a seated position completely exposed above the surface.

Hmm I donnu, lets see if my and my buddy are both buried with beacons and shovels can we save each other? If me and my buddy have beacons & abs packs, and one of is lucky enough to stay on top due to the abs bag and then able to dig out the other....by GOLLY.. I think I just figured something out OLE bean.. By putting my self in a position to less likely be buried I'm putting myself in a position to more likely be able to help my buddies. Who would have thought of that.. Wait wait.. I know your going to say if you didn't cause the slide in the first place blah blah... ...yes yes we all know but we are talking hypotheticals here.

Why a test dummy if it works ?

OT

Because, we lost your phone number. ;)..but most likely because nobody said the abs pack is going to prevent any sort of injury (ie dislocated shoulders, broken bones ect)..while it may help keep you alive it's not going to keep you uninjured...who in there right mind is going to volunteer to get a shoulder popped out to prove something you can do with a test dummy.

Did you just say that?

Why a test dummy if it works ?

Are you serious OT? I mean really, are you serious?? That is just an ignorant comment no matter which side of dangerous ridding you stand.

Chain Yanking

It is so obvious that OT is trying to work everybody up here and he has succeeded! People have died over this topic and it should not be taken light hearted.

You know Karma's a biatch OT....go find some fresh over glare ice and "go play in the street" so to speak!
